I Ask Nothing
I know of our struggles
but I’m not a communist
or a hipster
I know there’s a soul
but I’m not a evangelist
or an atheist
I can’t change the world
but I try not to harm you
or my children
I am aware of many things
but I’m also ignorant
and full of perception
I loved you once long ago
but I still love you today
and I know it’s true
I have felt much pain
but I know my weakness
and my vices
I have heard you speak
but I have my own mind
and it’s my choice now
I am a deep thinker
but I should be a doer
because that is best
I do not judge culture
but I once did
and I was wrong
I am not chosen
but neither are you
we are all the same
I will honor your rights
but I can’t be you
let’s honor each other
I ask nothing of you
except your respect
and my freedom

#perception
#introspection
