I watched as the son and mother walked up to the gastation
Dressed in goodwill clothing
The mother pulls out a bag and shows the boy what to look for
Cigarette butts in the trash can ashtrays

He was only three or four
Not old enough to know any better
But I'm sure that will be the first real memory of his mother
And he will loathe it as he will loathe her
