When the arrow pierces another
The bowman knows what to give
I never knew of you before we met
Though in my heart you lived
When love is born
What once lived as a mystery
Now lives in the tip of an arrow
But she broke it because of pride’s misery

He knew he could never hold her
She would cry of hunger
Rather than accept his gifts
For of a debt she would never wonder
He wanted to tell her
She had defeated her insecurity
But her defiance was all too real
She didn’t want to be his ego’s charity

He blew out candles and laid them to rest
He wanted no shadow to witness
He wanted to protect her fears
So she could stop hiding her sweetness
She knew she would fall in love
Because she had already reached the bottom
As they parted with another wistful goodbye
She once again pretended what she had forgotten
