Mercy
Mohd Arshad Jun 2014
How softly snow falls
In the woods, on the walls,
On the leaves, down the lanes,
And like the moon slowly wanes.

The trees bear silver fruits
And silver water makes its routes,
Earth is silver in full bloom,
Life is beauty without boom.

Heat: imagist poem
Mohd Arshad Sep 2015
The furnace spills over;
The leaves burn to chips,
And in its thickness we cough!

O cool showers!
Dive from the high fountain
And swim across the field!

Obsession.. .. Imagist poem
Mohd Arshad Oct 2016
At shimmering glow,
A beeline flies do make.

Oblivious of
Piercing ******
Of carcass night,

They hover,
Mesmerized by
Sparkles, brimming.

No melody,
No promise,
No window,
For tomorrow!

Dead bodies lie
In its shadowy shade.

Resistance
Mohd Arshad Jun 2016
Build a huge wall
Against these, so puissant:
Ripples of laziness
And flow of procrastination.

A greater achievement
Can't wade and to its taste
It does walk
On a lush dream.

On the way,
To maintain the momentum
It pines to sit
Under dense passion.

Most often,
Brambles of lust recreations
Scatter and raise
Their forky heads to its feet,

But, as curious,
Nonchalantly, it jumps over them.
Finally and as always
It comes out victorious and gets the prize.

Oh! I am an Indian beggar
Mohd Arshad Mar 2015
Oh! I am an Indian beggar!
Are you not proud of me?

The traffic of the roads!
The lamp of the streets!

Come to sidewalk, my plush villa,
And stay here for one or two minutes!
You will feel blessed!
The most comfortable home!

Taste  crispy bread,
My sumptuous and favourite dish,
And I am sure,
You will say;

This is a good piece!

At night I will offer you
The timber, my holstered couch to sleep,
And your exhaustion will die forever!

Pavement is my address
And it is valid for all seasons
For I am an Indian beggar,
Your brother, younger or elder!
Are you not proud of me?

Noon
Mohd Arshad Feb 2015
The noon,
The prosaic scene in the theatre,
No thrill for the audience
Save the moaning of crows on the branches!
An old man chanted his beads in sleep,
The street hawkers looked round
Like children in the dried up well!
They pined for the change
Till the hero and heroine
Were seen walking hand in hand
In the golden glow!

Snow
Mohd Arshad Jan 2015
Rain of full-blown spring,
O snow, I call thee, O snow!
Thou trumpet thy coming
As softly as moonlight
Step down the earth,
And as silence sits on lips
When death is at the door.
O snow, thou camouflage
The delicate newly-born buds
And those who are in their prime,
And they lie as corpse in coffin
When there is no one to claim,
And life is as still as still water at night,
And its spirit, though alive, choked,
And thou don't pity them
Who are not subversive
And those who are only images!

Friends are heroes
Visible and invisible
Sung and unsung
And some of them
Like stars,
rise out of the blue
I find mine in
the compartment:
Long in the tooth
Undressed, untidy
And subject to stitches
Our loya guards
keep a tab
On our movements
Laughter and gossip
Our relatives
Blow our perspiration away
Our cemented roof
Streathens our shelter
Forgotten, abandoned,
Still our best companions.

Sweet snow
Mohd Arshad Oct 2016
In the yard, something squeaked,
But music was softer, and sweatness
Blew, and at the window it was sweeter
I saw the source of it, hugging the glasses.
In the twinkling of a star
The whole blue was white, very white.
The cat left the bone, licked her whiskers
And crept through the hole to the yard.
Oh, amazing!  She danced, cupping her legs
To catch the fluffiness, falling in a fashion.
Mesmerized, I, too, hit the floor soon
To taste the feast, Awash with bliss,
Winter had laid down after swan summer,
And were there like leaves in the rain.

An Entreaty From The Womb
Mohd Arshad Feb 2014
I dream to have glimpses of
                         your wonderful earth
             Where nature your presence claims.
                       I dream to balm wounds
                             Of your humanity
                     Which is mired in miseries.
I dream to show the strayed souls
                    the virtuous path to paradise.

I dream; I dream, I dream to fulfill my dreams.

They don't want my journey in your land.
Oh! I am a girl, a curse for them.

                                  My lord!
                              Call me back
Or mould me in another form.

Party poppers
Mohd Arshad Sep 2017
Epigraph:

Spoiling the fun is getting fun

Sandwiching oneself
In a crammed place
Is piling ***** up
Or glomming grasshoppers
As it testifies one's
Strength and stamina
That one needs
To spend ample time there
Jostling and finding
A suitable seat
A neck to neck competition
Though only for standing

Party poppers
Are connoisseur in this field
No card carved for them
They trespass halls
With panache
And strut like a special guest
Who gets the cynosure
And add candies to the celebration
Here, instinct does the work well
And it drives and drags them
To beautiful bashes or pow-tows
But simultaneously
it be controlled and switched off
If strikes once, twice or thrice
Allured, they fall into oblivion
That lounging much longer
In the pools of joys
Gathers gatherings
And some of them
*** amok to mop the mess
And they had better learn
Entering the banquets
with no invitation
Is mounting on monkeys
And climbing up the trunk.

Do you want to succeed
Like a little sparrow
That learns how to fly indeed!

Her wings she ***** and this goes on
Movements lead to further actions she knows
And you know she gets won!

Success is the passion to rise
Watch the bees garner nectar
And their hive greater than their size!

Success is not a magic
That takes place out of blue
It is sowing of seeds, not terrific!

Success needs water to grow
Water it water it O friends
It will blow you will glow

October morning at my house
Mohd Arshad Oct 2016
Ashes, scattered
On the roof,
Make their way
But roll back!
The wind hibernates.
A solitary kite
Is taken aback,
And too depressed
To lie down.
A host of pigeons
Coo in low
As they wait
for the sparks.
Something is amiss.
We know
How life begins,
But don't when,
And between them
We float,
Catching zero!

A gibbous orange
In the sea!

No leaping,
No splashing!
The mood of playing
Hide and seek!

A wish to smile again
With its holy splendour!

Time to muse on
Its own extinction
Again and again!

The burning candle
And gradually dying like us,

And again a new skin,
A new soul,
A call from the hanging umbrella!

The Old Lion
Mohd Arshad Dec 2015
On a day of smog-compactness,
And when I, in tunic, on planks stooped,
Through the clumsy cluster of logs,
Like an arrow out of a bow, ricocheted he,
The warrior, the dictator, the vampire!
His manes, I bet, golden silky threads,
Dangling on his thick and flabby neck,
And like straight standing swords
In the naked sun, uprit, his fangs!
The persons, crouched, and the cattle,
Out for fodder, stuck in stamped,
To the dichotomous ways, scuttled!
His prey, he telescoped, oh! Unfortunate dog;
Yes! Galloping was in a jiffy, and
The old king was on his throne!
At the crevice I, in tremors, thanked God;
And he,  the victorious, eyes smouldering,
Trekked, roaring, growling and howling!
Though dreadful, how jolly moments,
For them too, I am sure, yes, so sure,
Met the lord of the forest, lord of the beasts,
And in thickness of bushes, he vanished!

Upon the bough of a bride birch
Perched two doves, their lips pursed
The leaves rustled, they made no lurch.

Glistened the golden glow, rolled their eyes
To break the ice his desirous palm he crept
And hers she withdrew but he liked the rise

Let's go back the evening is widely sable
Anon, the night will open up its massive jaw
And the devils will petrol and we're feeble

Squeal, mumbled she, adultery so heinous,
Irrimissble, frown-fetcher, and then I'd muse
If again living with you forever isn't outrageous

I admit, I bow, I seek your fervour-forgiveness
He stood up, cried and closerly inched to her
followed she, but moved on with unfriendliness

The confession carried out with much remorse
Won her heart, humble, and hugged each other
And flew to nest optimistic of no further woes
