Tiger: An Imagist Poem
Mohd Arshad May 2015
O tiger!
Break up thy sharp arrows
And not shoot on the emaciated bones!

Don't set the woods on fire,
Stretch thy body under leafy roof
And welcome the lamb
To shake the hand!

Moral Values
Mohd Arshad May 2014
Lies pass away
Like rainless clouds.

Dishonesty is crushed
When it turns into a dictator.

These are moral values,
So pious, so perpetual!

They are the young moon,
Glittering and giving light
When the world is in darkness.

The Full Moon.. Imagist poem
Mohd Arshad Jun 2014
The gentle breeze
played guitar
Struting the greeen strings;
The jolly rain
did ballroom dance
To welcome the glowing moon.
I lingered in the meadows
to drink eternal ecstasy
as she shook away her scarf.

Laugh
Mohd Arshad Oct 2014
Laugh
if you lose the game
among the spectators in the open!

laugh
if you fail to catch a falling star
when there is only gloom in the sky!

laugh
if a piece of apple slip from your hands
and then nothing is left for your belly!

laugh
if meet with a mishap
as you are on the road for an evening walk!

laugh
if coins stop clanking in your pockets
and your children don't leave your fingers!

laugh
if your wife is not contented with her dress
to charm the guests at a beautiful ball!

laugh
for you are alone
and others will jeer at you if you grimace!

laugh
for life is a pool of sadness
and balance it with laughter!

On Gallows
Mohd Arshad May 2014
There
Is philosophy
In the hives.
The snakes
Hiss to throw
Their rage
Over the
Soft soils.
They said
Not more than
seven hundred
On gallows
This time.
There
Is philosophy
In their verdict.
A scheme to
Spread massacre
Of brotherhood
peace and harmony
There
Is philosophy
To chew bones
Of their own.

Her And My Life In Delhi
Mohd Arshad Feb 2014
Lying on the couch  I said, "I am fed up.
The room echoes jazz and draws
The picture of the noon.
I step out; the drab screech overflows,
With the shallow crush.
I beat a retreat; i chant.
Alas! The jingles playdown my beads."

She retorts, "bunkum, only bunkum.
They are rugged and rusted.
You are the fly in our cake.
How can we breathe easily?
What blessings can we get?
It is invidious nowadays,
Only annihilation on the hills!
Look at the new ones, how amazing!
Go on; i have to attend the ball."

We walk on invisible path;
something  hidden that hangs there
pushing us towards the door of life
that was open in the begininning,
we call it time and time calls it death

Doors
Mohd Arshad Jun 2014
I heard a knocking at the door;
It kept resounding.

May be, a man wearing white was there,
Or an old man in disguise.

I didn't open it;
I fear this ghost,

For we don't enter,
We only exit through them.

Obedience
Mohd Arshad Sep 2015
No star asks the heaven about its shimmering on an aphostic curtain
No raindrop ever puts its case before the clouds

No flower swiftly shuts its door too see the bees
No branch goes up when fruits are pregnant

Obedience is nature by birth
My father's soul bid us goodbye cheerfully

The Almighty wants this from all human biengs
Parents from their sons and daughters

Teachers from their different pupils
And we from each other in society

This laces us in sync and a new relation is built
That accommodates humbleness and honour

Children must develop this habit and this be inveterate
Like their luscious breakfast at each reddish rise

And plant this in their schools and homes
Where juniors will smell this and crave to do more

prayer
is the coins to buy bread
and it is upto the shopkeeper
to giv us without.

prayer
is the school going child
to get cognizance by opening the books
and sometimes without them too.

prayer
covers the distance
between heaven and earth.

prayer
makes God happy
and removes His wrath upon us.

The Refugees' Camp
Mohd Arshad Feb 2014
In the deserted rented homeland
Are strewn the dust-painted awnings.

No sun peeps out but hovers the fog.
No wind blows save the constant chill.

Here, the wounded souls are dwelling
With much comfort around the clock.

Their sleep is composed with no shrill.
The roaring and growling bring tranquility.

They are intact, along with well safeguard;
Only the ***** intrudes to bruise the memories.

Blessed Is The Man
Mohd Arshad Jan 2015
Blessed is the man
Whose son and daughter
Keep his room warm
In snowy winter

His cup of coffee for office
His blanket for night
And his longing to be beside
When his heart needs delight

Blessed is he always
If they don't make him feel
The loss of his lost partner
And he finds solace in their meal

If he is contented
And murmurs and chants prayer
May God shower his mercy
They are my son and daughter

Temptation: imagist poem
Mohd Arshad Jun 2016
O Temptation,
Why are you so musical?

And walks like an elf
And sometimes a little bit ******.

Don't you struggle
To strip from head to toe?

I know We are lost
The very next moment.

After you are gone
We are fettered in deep wounds.

O dear O friend O dear
Stop visiting us all the way,

Or be religious and be holy
To stay along with us no end.

Think of the heaven
And its blaze on our heads

That burn if we hail you
And you will face the same hereafter.

The virtuous Deeds
Mohd Arshad Feb 2014
They keep distance from the paupers;
Jeer at their mucky places and patchy attires.

I live among them; their things are praised.
I know from the pedestal they can be raised.

Their visits at hom and words they voice blight;
Push them out and feel proud of their own might.

I welcome them with open arms; provide seat,
Give them whatever I like to drink and eat.

They call me fool and laugh at me as well.
These are virtuous deeds to them i will tell.

inside a big beautiful box,
pencils held a meeting.

one of them spoke
in a voice, so strong,

"they peel our skin away,
they peel our skin away."

then expressed its wrath
another one from behind,

"time for rebellion,
time to sntach our freedom."

an old one, with wrinkles on its face
and on the verge of its last days said,

"my children, my sons!
nothing change is possible in nature.

if it were so,
the ants will sit on the throne,

and the tigers in the iron cages
and we in the pockets of the great."

Look into mirror
Your rose has faded away
And skin time has much bruised

Do you think
injustice has been done to you?
It was to be; it is inenvitable after birth

Only our virtues reamin intact
So much divine power they contain
Time never lashes them for decay
And God and angels take care of them

They are our immortal gold
And with them our soul goes back to its place

Onomatopoeia
Mohd Arshad Jul 2014
children!
this is me, Onomatopoeia!
I never surprise the waiting eyes;
I only fall into the echoing ears.
Children!
I patter in the ground,
and on the roof around.
children!
I do buzz when the bees
fly to and fro, over the trees.
children!
I sing something sweet
when the birds play upon the flute.
children!
I rhyme in the meadows
when the crickets chant under the bushes.
Children!
I am Onomatompoeia,
the sound, the chime, the melody,
all like me, I am a flapping butterfly.

White Man
Mohd Arshad Feb 2015
He, lived with me, white man,
Dancing, skimming, swinging,
And his body overstretched on primroses!

On the dandelions he climed,
On the walls he skidded,
On the grass he slumped,
On the boughs he slep,
In my orchard, my guest!

With stealthiness-footfalls
He peeped in through windows,
And my drowsy-drunk body caressed!

He welcomed butterflies,
He whispered to birds, passing by,
He made my Bulbul, the nightingale, his buddy,
And lost in her mellifluous lyrics!

He hugged the world,
He hugged my soul too,
He loved apples,
He kissed the lilies!

Ah! Things are bound to farewell,
As time scratches their beauty,
And they slide into nothingness!

Oh! His journey is over,
He is going to the house of the moon!

Only I, with sobs smearing,
Is in the lawn to see him off!
O butterflies, O birds, O Bulbul,
Play the requiems,
Winter is going, dying,
Our friend is going, dying!

In The Dazzling Light
Mohd Arshad Jun 2014
In the dazzling light
Of the street eyes,

A teenager, full of dreams
For a glorious tomorrow,

Is ***** and *****.
People huddle,
Sirens echo and
Slogans are raised.
An old beggar,
Lying under the sidewalk,

Chanted and chanted.
Nothing happens here.

Nothing happens here,
And then spoke slowly,

He is gone.
Only her charred skin

Is left and her
Maimed heart.

Mohd Arshad Jun 2014
There is a new leaf
in my garden,
And summer lingers.

It will grow along with me,
Facing the sweltering days,
And the lashing wind.

It will grow along with me,
Waiting for spring,
Our surviver forever.

But it must a lesson
That growing is natural
And going through hard days

Lies in our palms
That always pick up
The choice of our deeds.
