Poets Corner
Mike Hauser Oct 2013
I've been drawn in deep
These strange rhymes that beckon me
I have no need to escape
As they invade my dreams

Since I've arrived here on this corner
Where all these wonderful poets converge
I've been enlightened, enthralled, and captured
By the wonders of their words

Some so deep and darkened
I'm saddened by the pain
But the pain somehow calls out to me
For I return time and again

Where I find a soul lighthearted
With a festive carnival of words
I step onto the path they've laid for me
And walk with them inside their mirth

So as I'm standing on this corner
With my lot of new found friends
We'll step onto this winding path together
On a journey to suit our whims

Part of God
Mike Hauser Oct 2017
What part of God's love
Do you not understand
Where is your compassion
For your fellow man
Why is it that you hate
The way others might live
When excuses you continue to make
For your very own sin

What part of God's grace
Do you not get
The mere fact it's clearly here
So that you yourself might live
He knows the moment where you're at
And where it is you've been
Where all that you have when all is said
Again is your sin

What part of God's mercy
Do you not show
Do you help the lowly
And the widow alone
Are you there for the poor
Who call the streets their home
What part of God
Do you fail to show

Sealed With A Kiss
Mike Hauser Oct 2013
After all this

Has been sealed with a kiss

And the future is next in line

We'll talk to the deaf

If there's anything left

While we take our sight back from the blind
Mike Hauser Nov 2015
In the middle of the night
With sleep still in my eyes
I stepped into my kitchen
And received quite a surprise

As I reached out my hand
And flicked the light on
There were balloons, confetti, party hats
With a banner that read -WELCOME HOME-

I'd caught thousands of roaches
In the middle of song
They all turned and looked at me strange
As if I'd done something wrong

I heard a scream from the crowd
A foreign language to me
The next thing I know
I'm knocked down to my knees

As I'm being dragged
Across the linoleum floor
I see a little red button
That opens up a trap door

I started getting real nervous
The deeper we went
If I was a cat with nine lives
I think eight I just spent

They took me before the king
King Ralph Roach was his name
I only knew that
Cause that's what his name tag displayed

I was assigned a public defender
But that did me no good
He spoke Roach, I spoke Human
Each other we never quite understood

"GUILTY!"  Came the verdict
I hollered what was my crime!
"Interrupting a roach in the middle of having a good time"
Came the judges reply

Squishing to be my death
The day after tomorrows last night
I said that doesn't make any sense?!
Hey, we're roaches....we're not known for our timely insight

So here I sit in my cell
Wishing I could take it all back
If I had just not gotten up
For that late midnight snack

Wait....is that a tap, tap, tap
(You didn't think this was the end did you?)
As my hours getting late
A roach we'll call Chester
For anonymity sake

Told me to stop all that blubbering
I've come to break you out of here
I stood and we hugged
Which would be strange if it wasn't so weird

We slipped past room after room
With all kinds of parties inside
One thing you can say about roaches
They know how to have a good time

When we reached the surface
All I saw was blessed heavenly light
I went straight in and packed my bags
And gave the house to my Ex-Wife
(Okay, now it's the end!)

MEANINGLESS!
Mike Hauser Sep 2013
MEANINGLESS ALL OF IT!*

Every bit of life
All for which we do
All for which we strive

The sun comes up, the sun goes down
Every single day
We work our fingers to the bone, but why
If not for more of the same

The wind blows and blows and blows and blows
North, East, South, and West
When it makes it's way around
It starts all over again

The rivers flow into the sea
And the sea is never filled
It gives itself back to the rivers
Just so it can be done again

Wearisome beyond description
Man is never satisfied
With what we have we're not content
Always wanting more in life

History again repeats itself
What you see has all been done
There is truly nothing new
Under the scorching sun

We may have new gadgets, new contraptions
But we're still victims of the past
Repeating all that's been done before
As our simple memories lapse

There will be future generations
When this one tragically bows out
Where they will repeat our same mistakes
Not remembering the ones we're making now

MEANINGLESS ALL OF IT!
Taken from Ecclesiastes 1:1-11
And loosely put into rhyme...
Mike Hauser Jun 2017
the only thing these days i do
is watch my reflection in a junkies spoon
turning away before i go too deep
yet crawling back as hell's urge hits me
i've watched more friends come and go
living fast while dying slow
waiting for the monkey on my back
to draw the last card from out my deck
i've bought this farm for milking blood
just so i will have enough
where i'll do it till the cows come home
or at least until i'm dead and gone
a partial shadow follows me
being only half the man i used to be
where the only thing these days i do
is watch my reflection in a junkies spoon
The ****** epidemic is so sad and out of control these days, my prayers go out to those and the families of those caught up in this hell.
May God have mercy on their souls...

Grab Your Wings
Mike Hauser Mar 2014
Grab your wings
And we'll sail away
From the secrets held by darkness
Into the brightness of the day

From the moments that hold us captive
And have kept us down so long
Hanging by a single thread
To an old familiar song

Hold on tight as we prepare the flight
In which we'll be leaving soon
Over brightly covered mountain heights
Underneath a crescent moon

We'll find answers to the questions
As we float gently on the breeze*
Flying low over fields of flowers
Skirting the tops of Redwood trees

Visiting ancient ruins
From the Palisades of the past
Where we'll find a future awaiting us
In the die that has been cast

With all that is just, set up just for us
In colorful array
So grab your wings, no need for other things
*As we'll be leaving here today

Silence
Mike Hauser Aug 2013
There's an emptiness to the silence

That invades the soul

Putting a burden on the heart

Beyond all you've been told

A closely guarded secret

No ones willing to disclose

Afraid that if it's spoke out loud

The empty silence will grab ahold

And into it's darkness you will fall

Goodnight
Mike Hauser Jul 2016
I sat down
To write a poem about
The way things used to be

But I can't remember
Much before dinner
So that thought's eluding me

Then I thought
A poem about
The life I'm living now

What came across
Was one big yawn
Perhaps a bit too loud

Then it occurred to me
Maybe the poem should be
Set in the near future

Before I even began
That light grew dim
So that path I didn't venture

Now here I am
With pen and paper in hand
In this conundrum of what to write

Until that time
The poem I find
I'll just kindly say goodnight

between her breast
a vile she carries
of a blind child's tears
mixed with the dust of fairies

giving off a warmth of comfort
in her time of need
a magical glow
that intercedes

her favorite time to go outside
is when she hears a storm approaching
she loves the feel of rain upon her face
reminding her of nothing

and that's something little missy needs
to sooth her longing soul
she would gladly trade all in life she's saved
if for a moment true love she could hold

Happy Galentines Day
Mike Hauser Feb 2015
Here's a shout out
To all the Ladies out there
Who want a boyfriend so bad
But haven't found him just yet

Don't worry girls
It's not a hopeless cause
The man of your dreams
Hasn't found you yet is all

You see he's out there
And he's searching  too
Looking for the perfect women
And that perfect women is you

When it does happen
You will know this is it
Because both you and he
Will be the perfect fit

So go out and enjoy
Galentines with your girl friends
Because this time next year
You may all have boyfriends
There was a episode on Parks And Recreations about the single ladies celebrating Galentines Day instead of Valentines. That's what my daughter and her friends are doing today and doing it proudly!

The Illusive Poem
Mike Hauser May 2017
I've walked up and down these city streets
Left my prints along the beach
Searching for that which I need
But seldom is it within reach

Every nook and cranny in my home
Climbed high the mountain top alone
Never sure of where it's gone
The illusive poem

Day and night I will not rest
This poem to find I've made my quest
I've laid it out at my behest
There's nothing needed more than this

I've called up everyone I know
Rang the Vatican in Rome
I will not stop my on the go
Until I find this poem

I've trudged the jungles of the South
More places than I dare to count
And still have yet to figure out
How all this came about

I'll keep on with my keeping on
Never bowing to the loss of hope
Because deep inside one day I know
I will find this poem

I've looked up among the blinking stars
Telescoped Venus and Mars
Held up signs to passing cars
But failed to look deep in the heart

You'd have thought I would have known
The one place I failed to go
That's where it was all along
The illusive poem

It Is What It Is
Mike Hauser Nov 2013
With a landscape that's ever changing
So many different tunes this man has hummed
I juggle life and rearrange it
I am what I have become

If you'll kindly throw me a lifeline
I'll do my best not to drag you in
This thing called life, I should have it down in time
If you'll allow me to begin again

It comes and it goes
It goes and it comes
What it is I held onto once

It goes and it comes
It comes and it goes
What it is that I used to know

This life has become a pass time
That at times I only dream about
If I could I'm sure that I would
Dig out from this mound of doubt

What looks familiar to me now
Tomorrow, the wind of change
A complete 180 turnabout
I can only try and save

It comes and it goes
It goes and it comes
What it is I held onto once

It goes and it comes
It comes and it goes

"The Inch Of Two"
Mike Hauser Sep 2013
I sometimes wonder what I would do
If I were only as tall as the inch of two
Would I dart and dash amongst the feet
Trying to avoid them from squishing me

Would my home be a hole in the wall
Like Mr.Mouse, who to me is pretty tall
Or would I snuggle up underneath the fridge
And eat what little food is dropped to the edge

I could take soda caps from out of the trash
And turn them into little party hats
Paint them all in colors bright
Then hand them out to the pantry mice

The bedroom dust bunnies and I
Would hang out all the time
Each of us light as a feather mind you
As we run from the house keepers evil vacuum

If I go out during the day to play
I'll make sure it's a place that's safe
Away from swooping birds and killer bees
Just in case I'll take dust bunny security with me

We could open a park that's safe for us
Where little people can play from morning to dusk
At the end of the day we would head for home
With fingers entwined so we're never alone

And when we do make it back home
I'd gather all the dust bunnies I know
We'd sit in a circle underneath the bed
Where I'd tell of the days adventures I had

I sometime wonder what I would do
If I were only as tall as the inch of two...

The Other Side Of The Blues
Mike Hauser Jun 2013
You can find Old Blue Joe down on the corner every night
Playing his guitar like he's picking a fight
He'll play your request but it's the blues that run his life
In fact the blues is the only way that Old Blue Joe gets by

He's gotten used to it but he still don't like to lose
If he had a choice it's not a choice he would choose
He knows that he's one of the unfortunate few
That's been on and seen the other side of the blues

The other side of the blues...
Takes a bite out of life

The other side of the blues...
Darkens more the darkest night

The other side of the blues...
Doesn't care if you like

The other side of the blues

Old Blue Joe's on the corner he's always been on
Still playing the saddest of the saddest song
Through the blues, the youth he feels he should warn
Not to make the same mistakes the same way he has done

It's raining now as he plays but he'll never stop
The drive to keep on strumming is all that old Joe has got
Growing the bitter blues is this blue mans crop
Fertilizing it daily until this life is naught

The other side of the blues...
Doesn't care what is lost

The other side of the blues
Knows the price and pays the cost

The other side of the blues...
There is something that is wrong

With...

Who am I Lord
That you are mindful of me
A tiny drop of rain
In a wide expansive sea
What could I ever give
That you could ever need
Who am I Lord
That you are mindful of me

Who am I Lord
That you should bless this wretched man
In all the scope of time
I'm but one single grain of sand
After all I've put you through
You still take me as I am
Who am I Lord
That you should bless this wretched man

Who am I lord
That I would ever deserve
All the mercy poured on me
In the power of your word
Why did you choose these ears
To be the ones to have heard
Who am I Lord
That I would ever deserve

Who Am I Lord
That you could want this heart of mine
It's so rough around the edges
It's been hurt so many times
I know that if I give it to you
It will be forever thine
Who am I Lord
That you could want this heart of mine

It is only by the blood of Christ
That I know exactly who I am
And only by that precious blood
Do I now have the power to stand
The power in your blood poured out
To justify this sinful man
It is only by the blood of Christ
That I know exactly who I am

If you wouldn't mind helping me look for it
You remember what it looks like

I woke up in an English Garden
With the Lavender in full bloom
My thoughts unconsciously keeping time
To a psychedelic tune

While a caterpillar that looked familiar
Asked about his friend
Who crawled into a blue cocoon
And was never seen again

That's when a butterfly flew to my side
Landing on a mossy rock
Looked at me quite knowingly
And asked me what I thought

I thought about the present
I thought about the past
I thought about the question
The caterpillar asked

I thought about the butterfly
I thought about it thoughtfully
Till I crawled into my own cocoon
Where it is I sprouted wings

Now I fly about English Gardens
Mostly in the Spring
Asking people quite knowingly
What is is they think

Not so sure it's good
In the choosing of the sides
Where my brain convenes
With the left and right
While one stands up for yes

Which way this mind will go

Not so sure it's good

The Beauty of You

In the moments that most matter
In the space of tried and true
Like a hunter of pleasure I'm here to gather
In the beauty of you

I have searched beyond the seasons
Rode high on the rhythm of rhyme
Given thoughts to all the reasons
That point to the many signs

As I focus on what's before me
With nothing else this heart can do
I find over time I'm blinded by the light
That is the beauty of you

Being pulled along in the wake
Of the oceans you command
The purest of love will have its say
By any means it can

Imagine here right now forever
Never will this time be through
I do not take light holding with all of my might
All the beauty of you
Mike Hauser Dec 2016
Well son...

It all began in Fairyland
In the lab of the mystical toads
As trash throughout the land had gotten way out of hand
Along side of the pixie dust roads

The system they had wasn't working
Leaving empty all the garbage cans
And everyone of the Fairies backs were hurting
Bending over picking all of the trash

In an off the wall guess Teddy Toad thought of this
Something the Fairies all liked
A horn on a horse as a matter of course
Then the trash men could go along for the ride

So they took a horse and Duct taped a horn
Cause we all know Duct tape works wonders
But it never fit right in its slip and its slide
In the taping of over and under

Science soon prevailed in the cell from the horn of a cow
Mixing it up with one from a horse
Purely by accident they just happened to chance
Upon what is now the Unicorn

Who's very first job was giving litter a nod
In helping to keep the streets clean
But before too long the Unicorn evolved
In the preforming of different activities

From the up turn of nose in sneezing rainbows
In the prettiest of sunny weather
To giving kids rides as they grew wings to fly
The ones mixed with birds of a feather

Or the burping of clouds when they opened their mouths
That only know how to rain Skittles
That sometimes floods the streets in candy knee deep
Running sugar sweet straight down the middle

So if you're ever confused on how Unicorns were first used
Or had any doubt to how they came about
You can set your mind at ease
You now know they were created because Fairies all hated
Bending over picking trash off the streets

Goodnight son, sweet dreams...
Wrote this for my friend Sally A. Banyan because she likes Unicorns...

When did life become the new Hollywood
and us actors playing a part
Who's directing what used to be a blockbuster
Which is now quickly becoming a flop

Who wrote this screenplay anyways
Possibly Stephen King?
Who taught us how and what to say
All these lines of make believe

Who holds up the Cue cards and hollers out action,
quiet on the set we're about to begin
Who chooses the leading ladies
and picks out the leading men

When was it most of us became stand ins
filling up space and time
Not even mentioned in the credits

No matter the part we play
When did life become the new Hollywood

The answer is Love

In the proposal
Asking for a life partners hand
To the young couple
Building castles in the sand

The answer is Love

In the open
Where there's nothing to hide
In the heart that is hoping
It'll all work out in time

The answer is Love

When a father
Disciplines a child
When a husband or wife
Go the extra mile

The answer is Love

When tears
In a passing are wept
In the years
Where a promise is kept

The answer is Love

Not out of duty
But a pleasure whenever it's done
In the beauty
That comes from a simple hug

Takes it out of the light tosses it into the dark

Where it eventually eats at the soul

Making it hard to live out our lives
Bringing on shame that we all try to hide

From gurus to voodoo and all schemes in between
But only the Cross of Christ can cure the virus of sin

What comes next
For the hedonist
When the pleasures in life are gone

When happiness
On its own behest
Quickly moves south in the pond

When all but your name
In life tends to change
Replaced by the aches and pains

Where what used to be fun
All comes undone
And is barely remembered in dreams

What happens when
They lose the bet
On how long happiness sticks around

When they open the door
On no more than bored
And they are handed a rusty crown

When the pinnacle of pleasure
Is feeling under the weather
No longer on the A-list

Where you thought all was fine
Till the day of your dying
Goodbye fun to the hedonist
Listening to a guy on the radio speak of Hugh Hefner's life as a hedonist... I find it very sad.

Knows that it's time

Of this ugly bitterness
Wouldn't it suit you better
If it were buried in the past

Then you would be free

That can only come to someone
When bitterness is released

It's like acid in the heart
That burns the tinder parts
Forming you into something you

Better to take the bitterness you have

Felt the need to spread her wings
For a simpler place to lay her head

She left the city far behind
Not really sure of what she'd find
Not even sure of what she had in mind
She only knew that now was the time

So there she stood at the edge of the woods
Breathing in the beginnings to a whole new life
She dropped the bags that she had packed
Leaving behind.... She stepped inside

Where she was swept away in wonder
By the sound of joy and laughter
As nature took ahold and lead her
Through the forest of happily ever after

Searching for the perfect pair
Enjoying the trip as he went there

But alas the Prince got bored
With the toes 1, 2, 3, and 4
Although pinky #5
For awhile kept the romance alive

But soon enough he ventured out
To find new jam about the town
And that in a "shoe box" is the reason why

Tears greet me in the morning
I turn my thoughts to the auburn sky
Paying no heed to the storms warning

Hard to sit on a day like this
My baby's brown cheeks gleaming
Raven hair in a tangled mess
Still she's the one I'm needing

Her cold front chills me to the bone
A winter of a lover
In her forest deep but not alone
She'll thaw me out come summer

When April's warmth changes the scenery
My baby's mood will blossom
Like daffodil's in early spring
As birds serenade their loved ones

Till that cold chill wind blows back around
My baby's mood remembered
Black raven hair with a chocolate frown
As we bundle up for winter

Ready to lend a helping hand
Not be so inner focused

Wait a minute...is that who I am

Showing others what is of most value
In loving kindness and in truth
Giving them something to live for

Wait a minute...is that what I do

Making the most of every opportunity
Tossing worldly cares into the sea
Throwing caution into the wind

Wait a minute...

At any given time
It's hard not to let that happen
With a head that's filled with rhyme

The hardest part about it
Is keeping the words straight
I know if I were to mix them up
It would be a huge mistake

Don't want a line of death and destruction
Next to a simple I love you
Or a phrase that talks of the best of times
Followed by we're all *******

Keeping all these poems straight
And in an even flow
Is a whole lot harder
Than you will ever know

Anyone with a lick of sense
Would work on one poem at a time
Creating piece by piece
Writing line by grueling line

But me in my insanity
Would go out of my mind
If I worked on only one idea
And left the rest to wait outside

So I bring all of my thoughts
And toss them in a pile
I pick and choose which ones to let loose
In hopes the end result isn't to insanely wild

A Tragic Love Affair
Mike Hauser Apr 2016
Well I'll be a monkeys uncle
If that old King Kong
And the lizard Godzilla
Did not one day fall in love

It was the wildest looking of all affairs
One of the strangest scenes
With all of that burly bristley hair
Mixed with all that slimy green

They both met on the corner
In The Big Apple downtown
Amid all the screaming heebie jeebies
Of people running around

Between the two of course you knew
It would be love at first sight
And what love story isn't tragic
Without a few squished passersby...
This actually was a lot longer piece but when I got into them getting married and having kids it just got too weird...
Even for me!

Carved Out Faces
Mike Hauser Nov 2013
I'm a man of many faces
I've carved out over time
I carry them around with me
In a leather bag strapped to my side

Usually I'll leave it up to others
How it is they set the mood
The way we interact
To what face it is I choose

I have a face I use for concern
One I have that looks deep in thought
I'm still working on the one that looks like it's in love
But I'm not sure I'll use it a lot

I've got one that's fairly happy
It's taken years to carve it out
Five different ones in stages of sadness
Two that are riddled with doubt

I hold onto one that no longer fits me
I haven't worn in quite some time
It's the face that I was born with
The innocence of a child

One I've carved over and over
Cause I wear it out all the time
It's the one with the look of disbelief
When it gazes on the state of mankind

I have a face with which I greet strangers
One I use with friends
Also a face that says I'm sorry
If I need to make amends

But there is one I don't carry with me
The face I leave at home
For when I lock my door at night
It's the face I call alone...

We stood on this side of the fence
Two boys just biding our time
There was a job that had to be done
That job lay on the other side

I brought the pick ax and the shovel
Bobby the tarp and the twine
We synchronized our watches
Both read a quarter past nine

With the fence now far behind us
We used the cloak of the night
To reach our destination
Behold, such a heavenly sight

So as not to wear ourselves out
We both shared in the work
While one kept steady watch
The other was shoveling dirt

Bobby was the first one to hear it
That glorious heart throbbing THUD
Both of us working the tarp
We rolled our jolly friend up

Wondering if we'd made a mistake
As sirens and flood lights filled the night
For regrets it's much to late
In our rear view the Memphis sky line

The moment we pulled into the drive
There was a great sigh of relief
A job that was well done
The King smiles from the back seat

Can anyone actually blame me
Or even call it a crime
When my Granny just wanted to see Elvis
One last time before she died

* The Song *
Mike Hauser Apr 2013
You sit down to write the perfect song
To the tune that is lodged in your head
You just need the right words to go along
But  most every thing has already been said

You could write about unrelenting love
Or a love that's no longer there
To tell the truth hasn't there been more than enough
And does true love really care

The lyrics have to be more than can be seen
Words that envelop all space and time
So your search dives deeper into the abyss
Trying to capture the perfect line

It doesn't have to be a song you can dance to
But one that still moves the heart
The rhythm of language will replace the hearts beat
That is at this moment where you find you are

You decide to walk down the road of life a little further
Hoping inspirational words fill your head soon
Knowing full well this song will explain what all life is for
Until then you'll continue whistling the tune...

dreams
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
sometimes my dreams make a living
sometimes they barely make out
sometimes it seems that sometimes my dreams
are more than just riddled with doubt

sometimes my dreams dream me
that's when i have to pinch myself
is this all a dream or mostly reality
and at what point do i find that out

sometimes my dreams take a minute
sometimes they go on and on
feels like i've seen it as they all have me in it
sometimes with strangers, sometimes alone

sometimes i dream in slow motion
sometimes i dream i can fly
sometimes it seems that sometimes my dreams
are just a long drawn out dream in the question of why

sometimes i dream in color
though i'm told it's all black and white
and with that being said it's all in my head
as i bid you all a goodnight

He told what he thought, a funny joke
She got mad with that Uncle Sam bloke

His sense of humor was awry
So she smacked him in the eye

Jesting lies in the art of delivery
To get it right Sam needed smart livery

But smart these days doesn't seem to be the way
In America or any other place on the planet's lay

For Sam's joke to translate well to her funny bone
He should've employed a Marcel Marceau megaphone

But what occurred instead was the sound of thunder
From the bad joke from America to the land down under

Laughs didn't abound in a generous supply
Her tempest did storm with an endless cranky cry

But in the end it all turned out right
Poets through it all and friends in a genial light
This poem was brought about by a bad joke I used to comment on Elizabeth's Facebook page...
It definitely got lost in the translation! But amends have been made and as a result we were able to write a poem together about it. Poets through and through! Thank you Elizabeth!

My Stopped Watch
Mike Hauser May 2016
I have this watch
That long ago stopped
When it grew tired of telling time

It so often felt
Keeping up with itself
Wasn't the best way of living life

So day after day
My watch planned its escape
And when the time had finally come

It did something quite odd
What most would consider opposite
Decided to stay but no longer run

That's where we now are
With my watch on my arm
Stopped in mid Tick Tock

If it had the chance
To run once again
I'm thinking the answer is not

As most watches find
Keeping up with the times
Will drive you over the ledge

That's why I keep it
Strapped to my wrist
As a reminder of that if nothing else

My Conscience
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
I catch it knocking nightly
On the center of my mind
This thing they call the conscience
Letting me know wrong from right

It gives me room to wiggle
As I preform my daily feats
Although most are rather simple
It still keeps an eye on me

It helps me in my comings
And goings both the same
To keep at bay the dreaded face
I've come to know as shame

My conscience serves a purpose
In all the do's and don'ts I find
Floating on the surface
Of this crazy thing called life

It keeps a watchful eye on me
In all my ups and downs
This thing they call a conscience
Thankfully always hangs around

A Brand New Suit
Mike Hauser Feb 2014
My family is taking me out
In search of a brand new suit
One in which they can bury me in
I'll be leaving here real soon

You can tell it in my walk
You can see it in my eyes
If I last more than another month
Even I will be surprised

You can hear it in my rasp
You can smell it on my breath
Not a whole lot of need to ask
Who it is that's kissing death

That's why they feel the urgent need
To go out and buy me a brand new suit
Something that will match my casket
Something in a baby blue

King Of Dreams
Mike Hauser Sep 2013
Clouds breath in and out in paisley
In a colorful world of black and white
Skating across a lake of crazy
On any given night

In a crowd your standing naked
No one knows or so it seems
You find yourself inside the thrown room
Of the King of Dreams

Women in crystal ball gowns
Flying faces like they were kites
As the clocks bark off the seconds
In the slowing down of time

Above a field of purple daisies
Butterflies with rainbow wings
As you slide into the presence
Of the King of Dreams

You suddenly find that you can fly
You just think off of the ground
A train passes by in the sky
Filled with circus clowns

Standing before a crowd of thousands
When you realize you've lost your speech
At that moment is when you wake up
From a night with the King of Dreams

she has a thingamajig
Mike Hauser Mar 2015
she kept it all from us
she kept it all well hide
but once we all found out
what she had and what it did
it popped all of our tops
blew off all our lids
no one could have even guessed
she has a thingamajig

we called the t.v. stations
we called up the cops
when we heard what she had
and how much that it cost
half the town said no way
the other half said it's a must
when we all sat down and saw
what it was and what it does

it brought us all together
it gave us all a lift
lovers, friends and neighbors
now never would they miss
every other saturday
with picnic basket and the kids
all head down to central park
and watch her with her thingamajig

with no need to start it up
it's always on the go
though it may seem odd at times
there's always an even flow
no one saw this coming
no one could have known
nor would they believe it
if they hadn't seen it on there own

it keeps breaking all the records
like it's nobody's biz
bringing together the left and right
where all they now do is hug and kiss
never in a million years
would i ever thought it'd come to this
and all because we all found out
she has a thingamajig

~sleepwalking~
Mike Hauser Jan 2016
as we move on through our day to day
heading who knows where
the hustle and bustle of the there about
seemingly without a care

the ups and down in this show of life
the taking of the offering
if we could see i think we'd find
that we mostly are sleepwalking

we slip and slide the routine
one foot in front of the other
along the way we eat and breath
so as not to blow our cover

making sense in all of this
mumbling as if talking
doing it like nobody's biz
the artful art of sleepwalking

wheeling as we're dealing
faking savoir faire
the sleepy path that we are on
is filled with our nightmares

we make our way through drowsy days
no hesitation in the balking
all we have made in this display
effortlessly sleepwalking
