Heart Stones
Mike Hauser Jun 2018
You treat your heart like skipping stones
Tossing it out on loves lake alone
Counting off one, two, three
Trying not to skip a beat

The problem in this you find
Yourself always on the shoreline
Instead of dipping your toes
In the lake of love you'll never know

It's hard to throw when you have
A handfull of broken hearts from the past
Where all you do is toss your stones
Standing on the life's shore alone

Body Parts
Mike Hauser May 2018
I use my eyes to gaze on beauty
My mouth to say hello
North and South my teeth bring a smile
A wink to let you know

I use my shoulders when I'm shrugging
Both my arms for might
These two hands help me grab
When I need to hold on tight

My ears are here to listen
To other noises people make
A heart that beats forgiveness
Though not as much as I would like

A belly that often grumbles
Until it's satisfied
And if truth be known the same thing goes
For the inner workings of my mind

Then there's my knees that bend with ease
When my backside needs a break
And last but not least here come my feet
As I move along my way...

It's Hard
Mike Hauser May 2018
Where life can seem half empty
In a sandbox missing sand
In this land of plenty
It is still full of demands
You can follow along the playbook
Do the best you can
But it's hard to fight what's not right
When you're a fighter with no hands

You can star in your own movie
Play the highlights of your life
Show it on the big screen
A sensation over night
But when it all is said and done
I'm sure that you will find
It's really hard to convince anyone
When you're an actor with no lines

You can strike up the band
With Rock and Roll the pleasure cruise
Have the upper hand
In everything you do
Find the perfect song
Make all of the right moves
But it's hard to get the crowd to sing out loud
When you're a singer out of tune

Loving You
Mike Hauser May 2018
Some go through life never knowing their meaning
Of why they are here or what they should do
Yet the moment we met you're the way I've been leaning
When I found my meaning is in loving you

Some struggle with choice in the choices they're given
Thinking there must be more to life than this
Circling about in self doubt is how they are living
But I knew I'd be fine the first time we kissed

When something feels right you stop, going no further
Anything beyond that are just steps of a fool
There's no looking back when you find your wonder
Knowing my meaning is in loving you

Some paint in a fog, never seeing the picture
All black and white where no color is found
Early in life I can attest that I've been there
Until the day I found myself on your solid ground

Some go through life not knowing their meaning
With no idea of what they should do
Lucky for me from the beginning I've been winning
When I found my meaning is in loving you

Salvador Dali's Cat
Mike Hauser May 2018
His mind is know to roam
But he's not one to rat
With very little known
About Salvador Dali's cat
Whips his tail back and forth
Fourth dimensional for all it's worth
All this time sitting in
Salvador Dali's lap

His thoughts are known to wander
But he's not known to talk
Purring like a cosmic generator
On Salvador's melting couch
Electric fur stands on end
Grooms himself surreal, immaculant
Whispers in Salvador Dali's ear
Never hear the doubt

i lost yesterday

and there's no way to get it back

i let it slip out of my hands

before i even had a chance

to learn from my past mistakes

that i could have corrected yesterday

now it's to late to have my say

when...

My History
Mike Hauser May 2018
What has been my worth
While here on this earth
Have I paid my way
Since my day of birth
Have I taken advantage
Of what's been given me
What has been my worth
In this my history

Where's my time been spent
In the black or red
If I had it to lend
Would there be any left
And if there's any left
Would it come back to me
Where's my time been spent
In this my history

Have I given enough
And asked none in return
Can I truly say
What I have is what I've earned
All that is around
Everything I see
Have I given enough
In this my history

Suicide
Mike Hauser May 2018
What if you tried suicide
And by mistake you up and died
Would the demons laugh while God cried
If you were to take your own life

If you think, things aren't running right for me
Do you need to step out that drastically
Wouldn't it be better if you could keep
From doing  harm to the one you call me

Doesn't tomorrow bring another day
A chance to better the come what may
A chance to act a chance to say
There's more to life that I can make

Suicide is not a step that's light
It's the short end of the rope, the snake that bites
The loss of the string on the kite of life
The mistake you make you make too late to find

It's the cowardly way in which to say
I can't make it through another day
Come what will, come what may
You need to live this life before it's too late

Because what you find with suicide
It's also the ones you leave behind that die
Where the demons laugh and God cries
When you can't take anymore and you take your life

Chalk Life
Mike Hauser May 2018
You wrote the note upon the wall
Hoping for permanent but all you have is chalk
Could that have been a Freudian slip
Knowing sooner or later that you'd be back

You set your bags out by the walk
Thankful chalk is the only time these walls talked
For there's no telling what they would say
Keeping more secrets than they give away

You wipe your life and chalk dust from off your hands
With both being blue, was that also the plan
Yet still looking for something more permanent
But in your life chalk is all you have

lost alice
Mike Hauser May 2018
finding no rhyme nor reason
trying not to give into fear
is this just a passing of season
the reason you're no longer here

only faint memory graces these pages
long gone song filled our hearts and our minds
time slipping away with the ages
lost alice...i'm still hoping to find

              ...lost alice
        once stood on this corner

                                   ...lost alice
                                laid open her scars

   ...lost alice
threw caution to the wind

                          ...lost alice
do you know where you are

you stood in your whirlwind of poetry
often letting the demons give you a ride
did they come back to pick you up
are they now in the front by your side

"this is what happens when i step off the path"
the last words you tore from life's page
if i knew what door i'd let you out
or are you lost alice...the rest of your days

Mike Hauser May 2018
Who would have thunk
Who could have guessed
That we'd all end up
Dressed like this

Here on this stage
In cap and gown
With tassels tossed
Frowns upside down

We'll say hello
To new found life
When to old friends
We say goodbye

And also to
The ways of youth
As time moves on
Without a clue

We'll run the race
Beyond all this
In hope's and dreams
That life is blessed

Where some will lose
And some will win
While others make
The best of it

Who would have thunk
Who could have guessed
That on this day
We'd be graduates
To all my friends graduating! Congratulations!

"Time To Kill"
Mike Hauser May 2018
Come what will, come what may
I often hear others say
They must not have a lot going on
When I think of me, is there something wrong

Being as busy as I can be
Like a hungry ****** in search of the next tree
I'm now pulling the stakes up on my demands
Swimming away from this lake leaving behind the dammed

I'm going to rectify all my mistakes
Buy my weapon of choice whatever it takes
Shoot out all the lights at will
In my search of "Time to ****"

I might even buy myself a boat
Whatever I can do to keep myself afloat
Sail from here to wherever is there
And wherever that is I won't care

Or I might just stay in one place
Pull out a hammock and call it a day
Make a down payment on my mind getting lost
And if I think of something it'll be nothing at all

I'll do all this and more before it's too late
Cook up this scheme along with the cake
I'll be at the ready to fit this bill
In my search of "Time to ****"

Pocket Frown
Mike Hauser May 2018
I have this pocket frown
That I keep around
Just in case I'm in a place
Where things head quickly South

I pull it out and slip it on
Over my silly grin
Where it helps to rearrange
Any cheerful mood that I am in

Because life is not all giggles
With a face full of shiny teeth
You sometimes need a break in the middle
To bring on some relief

And while my grin is permanent
I at times can still be found
With it in hand on demand
My handy pocket frown

she says...
Mike Hauser May 2018
i know where the path is
and where it leads

she says...

and how the garden grows
in its search for hope

i have seen the sun rise
in a mothers eyes

she says...

and i have seen the moon
in her smile

i have heard the calling in
the blusterous wind

she says...

and taken what i have
to task

if there is anymore
it's not in this world

she says...

for i have stood on the edge
of its ledge

i have seen inside the dream
and what it means

she says...

and it's not in what you have
in what you've kept

but in the seeds you sow
as you move along

she says...

and what you give away
with what is left

secrets kept
Mike Hauser May 2018
on this forever journey
in search of who i am
with blindness as my vision
and me the secret kept

with waves of daylight dawning
in every move i make
my silence is the awkward sound
that has much more to say

am i too late to find the early
too odd to even up the score
too far down to see over me
recognizing nothing at all

any path that's on this journey
will take me to where i am
with blindness as my vision
and me the secret kept

We All Shall Change
Mike Hauser May 2018
When the last here on Earth hears the word
The skies will part as they give way
Ushering in the coming of the Lord
That's the day we all shall change

All darkness then will disappear
As the Mighty Lord gathers up his Saints
Where we shall meet eternity clear
As Heaven shouts out Jesus' name

As those asleep pour forth from their graves
Oh darkened death where now is your sting
The Bride of Christ shall mark this day
Bowing down before her King

Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and Heavenly Host
Will welcome in those with no more sin
Where we now stand on that hope
Then face to face to be with Him

We all shall meet on that Heavenly shore
With tears dried in the coming tide
Peace, love, joy ours forevermore
As we arrive in the Sweet By-and-By

When the last here on Earth hears the word
We'll also hear God say open wide the gates
Where all shall be free in one accord
As we all change in Jesus' name

in my frame of mind
Mike Hauser May 2018
i'm painting a picture
in my frame of mind
a little bit abstract
outside of the lines
hoping it looks
like what i find
the thoughts in my head
i've colored over time

i'll sign my name
so i'll know who i am
for later in life
in case i forget
i'll paint the view
on the back of my hand
so if i lose a clue
i can wave where i'm at

with my mind blowing free
as i'm passing the time
painting a picture
in my frame of mind

~The Question Of Why~
Mike Hauser May 2018
Feels like forever
Though she's only five
With a purpose in life
To ask the question why

A tiny Shakespeare
To be or not to be
The reason she's here
Is to make me think

Why is the sky blue
Why is the grass green
Why when birds clearly whistle
They say that they sing

Why do frogs leap
And bunnies hop
Why do dogs and trees
Both have a bark

Why do bees that sting
Make honey so sweet
Is there a man in the moon
And does he like cheese

Why are Summer's so hot
And Winter's so cold
Why do cat's get nine lives
And do dogs have souls

These are just some
Of the questions that come
My way each day
As I try and answer them

Feels like forever
Though she's only five
With a purpose in life
To ask the question why
Wrote this last year and today it popped up in my Facebook memories... It's it okay to say I love this poem? Thought I'd repost it.

a horse called heroin
Mike Hauser May 2018
you keep running a losing race
with the white horse that gallops
inside of your veins

continually placing bets
but how long you'll last
is anyone guess

all the running you choose to do
out of the starting gate daily
is with needle and spoon

with those in the stands looking on
watching you on this muddy track
before your window is closed

running with your pack
of what started out
as all thoroughbreds

numb to the junk in the future you face
as the white horse in your veins
continues this losing race

*We Are America*
Mike Hauser May 2018
The backbone of America is broken
But that doesn't keep her from finger pointing
In her judgment and her blaming
And all her self-righteous shaming

America once stood strong and tall
Clearly hands above them all
Too much pride can lead to shame
Tossing humbleness in the grave

America is walking with a limp
Tripping on the dark secrets she has kept
But all secrets eventually come to light
Have we all signed on Satan's dotted line

Has America lost her sight
Now that we find her justice blind
Finders keep and losers weep
Have we lost all humanity

America needs her mouth washed out with soap
From the words that she lets go
With much to do about nothing
She really thinks she's on to something

Can America get back on her feet
I believe that's up to you and me
Put a love brace on all that's broken
And stop with all the finger-pointing
This isn't about our Government... We all know how messed up that is! This is about us as a people... We need to come together and stop all this bickering

stereotyping
Mike Hauser May 2018
you type me in stereo
of how i should be
how i should sound
to whom i should speak
where i should live
in or outskirts of town
what circles to mix
who to hang around

are we not unique
in our own special way
why then look at me
when i say what i say

yet you think i should walk
the same steps as you
learn how to talk
just like you do
eat at the same table
be a part of the crowd
wear the same labels
as you're wearing now

i'm my own person
not out on a loan
can't think of much worse than
typing me in stereo

~Changes~
Mike Hauser May 2018
I've seen my childhood memories
In broad daylight come and go
What ones didn't fade away
Away they were thrown

From Granddaddy's Carolina farm
To the old country store
As progress keeps on moving on
While opening and slamming doors

What used to be roaming free
Home on the range
Is now a giant discount store
Open 24 hours a day

Where you can go and buy yourself
Most anything you need
Don't forget and leave your soul
Somewhere in aisle 3

And what was once neighborly love
Is now behind an 8 foot wall
With no idea of how they are
When we don't even call

With the fruit of our existence
Rotting on the vine
We should have picked it long ago
The minute it was ripe

I could go on with this forever
As each day brings a new change
Some are good, some are bad
Some should have stayed the same

But the biggest change that I've seen
From every thing that tends to leave
Is the bitter change
That I often see in me

The High Road
Mike Hauser May 2018
Heard they're getting ready to close
Down the high road
As no one they know
Uses it anymore

In desperate need
Of major repair
Because no one out there
Really much cares

A once solid road
Well traveled on
The shoulders now soft
The pavement worn down

And with the low road
So easy to take
Just don't read the signs
That point out the mistakes

Heard the high road
Is soon to be closed
With no one they know
Using it anymore

with the hanging of icicles

it's best to bundle tight
in frostbitten fear
wearing winter coats
whenever you draw near

with the coldest of cold shoulders
you bring to light a freeze
that makes one want to order
up an early spring

in a bank of snow linden cold
you drift in alone
that is when i've come know

the road
Mike Hauser May 2018
Driving on the road to so called happiness
Trying to stay off the shoulder of tears
Doing our best not to give lifts
To others who's welfare we hardly care

9 to 5 we most often drive
Down a one way street
With the only signal that we use
Is the one that blinks, it's all about me

Then it's off to Church on Sunday
To smile at those we weekly pass by
Shredding Jesus into pieces
Keeping the parts out that we like

We think we know the best roads
To take to where we're going
In road rage mistrust we scream and we cuss
By passing all the signs of love

Stuck in this daily traffic jam
By impatience and bad habits
We see something better in another lane
But we're too far off to grab it

Then it's back to Church on Sunday
Trying to ease the pain of the coming Monday
Again shredding Jesus into pieces
In search of happiness along the way

they've done enough
so everyone

The Making Of A Mother
Mike Hauser May 2018
The making of a Mother
Is not only about the birth
It's more the light that shines so bright
That gives a Mother her worth

It's the wisdom in the knowing
The gentle guiding hand
That guards a child from the wild
How only a Mother can

It's the ear that gives a listen
To the secrets that she keeps
The value in the lessons
That only a Mother can teach

Being a Mom happens
Over the course of time
The most important job you can think of
On the side of life

It's the silence in the moment
When nothing need be said
The fact that she's a woman
That is there above all else

A Mother above all others
Is not only the one that gave you life
No, a Mom is the one
That stands strong by your side

The Dr. Said...
Mike Hauser May 2018
The Dr. said
I've got 6 months at best
So I best
Get everything met

Get my house into order
Find the nearest crying shoulder
Enjoy what I've got
Before I lose the whole lot

Make my amends
With whoever I can
And if they won't accept
Wipe the dirt from my hands

What was of the utmost import
Has suddenly changed in its course
And the mirror doesn't like
The way I look anymore

Crazy dreams fill my head
As I lie in this bed
I dream that I'll live
But I wake up to death

When what the Dr. said
About having 6 months at best
Continues to ring
Inside of my head
Need to mention this is just the poem

I'm starting to get the tan back
Where the ring used to be
Losing the reminder
But not the memory

I'm sure that too will makes it's move
To fall off my minds grid
But we two both know the truth
Who am I trying to kid

I might have forgotten your birthday
Or at times our dinner plans
And our anniversary often escaped me
As I blamed it all on being a man

But I do remember the good times
If I remember anything
Even as the tan line
Fades from my fingers memory

This Is Me Missing You
Mike Hauser May 2018
There's a picture in my head
Of what I looked like then
The way I did the day we wed
Is all in the expression

You can take it or you can leave it
Whatever you find to do
The point is now you see it
The is me missing you

For what we had together
Let no man tear apart
You change your mind over time
Which in time turned your heart

What we had wasn't meant to last
I now know that to be true
Still that doesn't change the heartfelt fact
This is me missing you

Whether one or lopsided
Aren't they both about the same
A marriage in route misguided
No matter who's to blame

You might have changed the beat
While I still hum the tune
Since our words we failed to keep
This is me missing you
I've been happily married going on 33 years.

But where in the world do I flick it

Maybe if

With my daily pickings

Guess this is
Just what it is
As I go back to digging
Picked this one out of my oldies! Thought it would be fun to toss it your way!

Reaction Hero
Mike Hauser May 2018
He thinks he knows the things you think
Can read your mind in every blink
And when you use that tone of voice
It sets him on his life long course

He is a Reaction Hero
Faster than a jerking knee
On a scale from ten to zero
Jumping to conclusions at lighting speed

You might think it's all okay
To go and live your life this way
But he has different plans for you
He knows what's best before you do

He is a Reaction Hero
Off the handle fly's at the first sign
Will burn a bridge faster than Nero
With no way back to change his mind

He doesn't like your attitude
No matter what you're going through
Doesn't follow along the party line
Only takes his own advice

He is a Reaction Hero
Faster than a speeding train in placing blame
Who needs action when you've got reaction
From a tiny spark to a burning flame

The Change
Mike Hauser May 2018
The change wasn't all that sudden
It didn't happen overnight
In fact I didn't feel a thing
Whether or not it was wrong or right

With a wrinkle here and a wrinkle there
A little off the top
What didn't fall out turned to gray
As my memory of it all was lost

All the mirrors I used didn't have a clue
Or in cahoots they didn't let on
If they had, not sure what I would do
Except *** along little dogie, *** along

I can no longer blame cloud cover
For the dimming that old age has made
Somebody's got my number
And is counting down the days

I'm sure in this I'm not alone
If I'm sure of anything
This is not a new phenomenon
In what the changes bring

I just hope my hearings well enough
When life hollars out last call
The change wasn't all that sudden
In fact I didn't feel a thing at all

On the mats
Running circles
Doing laps
Short of breath
Losing bets
I go to the internet
And Google cats...

I see water colored
Cats as art
Cats with wings
Swinging stars
Cats that sing
Cats that bathe
Dressed like Pirates
Sailing lakes
Cats that bark
Just like dogs
Cats with friends
Playing cards
Cats that jump
But not that far
Catching air
While missing marks
Cats in Charlie Chaplin hats
Using credit
Who's got cash
Cats that eat
Silly String
Freak out when
The doorbell rings
Cats that talk
Like babies do
Where their meow
Sounds like goo goo
Cats in color
Black and white
Chase other cats
Run from mice
Where my kids say
That's nothing new
I'm sure some of you
Have seen it too

But like I said
When life gets bad
Where sanity
Is barely kept
I close my door
And lock the latch
Go to the internet
And Google cats...

There's something about a girl
That makes a mans heart race
Helps the world to twirl
This side of outer space
Takes the hand of the mind
To the front of the line
There's something about a girl
There's no way of denying

There's something about a girl
That's like a roundabout
Spins you round in circles
Trying your best to figure out
Causes many a traffic jam
From the corner of her smile
There's something about a girl
Mile after wonderful mile

There's something about a girl
Muddles up your thoughts
Where you gladly pay the price
No matter what the cost
In the upside of this life

Speaking Your Mind
Mike Hauser May 2018
Where went the time
Where we could speak our minds
And not be afraid
We'd be threatened for our lives

What's good for the goose
Is not the gander the same
How tight or loose is the noose
On which they have us hang

When you say what you want
When you speak your mind
They tell you what to do so you don't
Step out of the line

As long as your point's the same
As their point of view
You're allowed to do and say
What they want you to

Can't have you out on your own
Giving others rays of hope
When they've kept them in the dark this long
On the things that they should know

When you go completely rouge
You'll find they do not like
While trying to tarnish your halo
When speaking your own mind
I find it very disturbing the way people are attacked these days for having their own opinion... This is not going to turn out good.

a man with much to say
Mike Hauser May 2018
long ago
and far away
lived a man
with much to say
if you don't know
let me explain...

he'd tell the time
so you're not late
and weather of
the coming rain
with calendar
he'd say the day

he'd tell the girls
that they look nice
and all the boy's
to watch their eyes
cross your "t's"
dot your "i's"

he'd tell you where
things you could find
over there
and look behind
if you don't care
then nevermind

brought before
the king and queen
who needed meaning
to everything
the sky of blue
the sea of green

explained it all
with all his might
well into
the late of night
wisdom and knowledge
he did recite

the king and queen
were both impressed
they made the man
an honored quest
much to much
to tell the rest

so long ago
suffice to say
far away
let me explain
lived a man
with much to say...
Just having fun rhyming!

lights out
Mike Hauser May 2018
my brain i'm afraid
has shut out the lights
the powers that be
are out for the night
they only show up
sporadically
hardly in want
never in need
like wind to a kite
does what it likes
the hair of the dog
both barks and bites
with circuits cut short
in how far they reach
a bit out of kilter
a little off beat
from little or not
to the very thought
in the processes of guesses
with all that's been lost
in the middle of this
what i now find
is somehow my brain
has shut out the lights

~Crazy Love~
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
How can love
Lift you up
To the highest heights

And then
Just as quick
Kick you over the side

How can love
Hurt so much
Where all you do is cry

And then in
The same instance
Break you into smile

How can love
Be more than enough
And yet still question why

If only love
Could be understood
I wonder what we'd find

~World Police~
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
We don't like what you're doing
Let alone what you have done
If you continue this quest to bring us to ruin
We'll blow you all to kingdom come

With a peace through strength solution
We ready up the tanks
As we bow our heads thanking Jesus
For blessing us this day

Did someone call for the World Police
To straighten out this mess
Here to beat you senseless
Knock around a few heads

Whether or not you know it
We know better than you
As we send our men into foreign laands
With our own brand of the god awful truth

With liberty and justice
We'll spank you into place
All the while with heads bowed
Continually saying grace

And once we've solved that problem
We'll move on to the next round
Set you up till we've had enough
Only to knock you all back down

Old Folks Home
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
Here we sit...
On the front porch of our twilight
Losing savings to our daylight
Sometimes forgetting who we are

Placing bets...
On who death holds up his sleeve
Being the next one to leave
While counting our lucky stars

Where we've been...
Flashes in the background
Further back than right now
As the morning is a blur

Being kept...
Alive on pills and promises
And what little money we have left
Before they show us to the door

And with that said...
We might say it all again
With who, what, where, and even when
As our minds commence to rust

Happened so fast...
Like a 3 minute pop song
Blink too fast and it's gone
Ashes to ashes dust to dust

Lessons Learned
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
Life is one big lesson
Be it easy, be it hard
There's no sense in guessing
You'll know soon enough when it comes along

I can tell you this from experience
With everything I've seen
The hardest lessons that you learn
Are the ones you most likely keep

Mr. Fancy Pants!
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
You're passing by the window
Of a fancy clothing store
Eyes popping in surprise
As your jaw drops to the floor
All you've ever dreamed of
All of this and more
More than enough can't believe your luck
As you hit the revolving doors

You've found a pair of Fancy Pants!

You do a happy dance
Cause you know this is your chance
To fulfill the dreams you've dreamed of
As a gullible young  lad
You have the widest grin
You have ever imagined
As you slide one leg then the other
Stop the presses this is it

Hello Mr. Fancy Pants!

These being the fanciest pants
Anyone has ever seen
People stop and stare
With eyes that can't believe
Flashing pink and blue and yellow
Orange, red, and green
Not skipping a single solitary beat
Strolling confidently down the street

Look out world it's Mr. Fancy Pants!

Some people have minor dreams
Of being kings or queens
Others wish their names
To go down in history
Struggle all their lives
To perform some awesome feat
But as for you
You're just happy

Being Mr. Fancy Pants!

House on Fire
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
Some say don't fear while others fret
On all of the happenings
We've struck a match to our past

"Now the house we've built is burning"

Our forefathers built with blood, sweat, and tears
The foundation we have here
Well into two hundred years

"What lessons are we learning"

The contract in which they wrote down
Constitutes sacred ground
Flick the Bic and burn it down

"Not worried over who we're hurting"

Generations yet to come
What will we be teaching them
That hard work makes great kindling

"Does anyone else find that disturbing"

Overtime it was bound to run its course
Now we know why Miss Liberty carries a torch
We tossed a molotov cocktail onto our own front porch

"Now the house we've built is burning"

The Closest of Friends
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
Close friends forever
Standing on common ground
In the knowledge we share
In the faith we have found

In our love for Jesus
Which removes any doubt
In the importance of friendship
And what it's truly about

Finding strength in each other
As iron sharpens iron
Being the brace and the bracket
Should one of us ever tire

Living this life out completely
The best way that we can
Placing the trouble and strife
All in God's loving hands

With no condimnation
If for a moment we lose
Or sense of direction there's understanding
In what we all go through

Knowing when the time comes
That we both must pass from this life
We shall soon enough meet again
On the other side

Where eternity beckons
Both of us to no end
Together in a lasting forever
The closest ever of friends
Nothing better than a friend in Christ Jesus!

Time is...
Mike Hauser Apr 2018
Time is a tiger
With you as the meat
Prowling your forest
Baring its teeth
Moves along quickly
Not skipping a beat
Only to stop
When it's done its deed

Time being a wave
Pounds at your sand
Till it deteriorates
Every inch of your land
And brings you into
Its ever present demand
If you think time is a bully
Please raise your hand

Time is a storm
That blows in your face
The wrong end of the pencil
Set to erase
The grandmother on edge
With a can of mace
A Sunday prayer
Without the grace

Time brings to mind
What it wants to be
The officer in charge
With you the parolee
Making sure that you do
What it wants you to
Taking into account
You haven't a clue

Time in its haste
Brings you along
Sings harmony
To your 3 minute song
Comes with a debt
You'll never pay back
By the time you figure that
You've already left
