The Mob
Mike Hauser May 2019
Not sure what I did with it
Could someone help me find the BIC
Could be mine or could be yours
We need something to light this torch

We already have the mob
Angry bunch of sorry sods
Saddle the horses, grab the reigns
Riding out to place the blame

Playing off of the town's fears
Whispering into their ears
Our own version of the truth
What you don't know will not hurt you

Don our hats, the men in white
At least we are in our own eyes
No one is above the law
Unless it is us of course

Somebody Has A Crush On You
Mike Hauser May 2019
I know somebody
That has a crush on you
They may deny it
But I know it's true
I've seen the way
That they look at you
When you do
Those little things you do

I know somebody
When they hear your name
They can not help
But feel that way
Every single minute
Of every single day
You're the single thought
They can't toss away

I know somebody
Where you are all they think
And the crush on you
Has them in a vice-like squeeze
The thought of you
Will not leave them be
I know this to be true
Because that somebody is me

this life
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
when we are young
we dream of this life
fame and fortune
everything right
from top to bottom
side to everlasting side
youthful endeavors
we have in this life
as we grow old
with the passing of time
reality steps
in in its prime
gives us notice
with the dimming of light
makes the truth
easier to find
the push and the shove
with all of its might
the dirt on the glove
that used to be white
the joy you once held
the dreams you once dined
life came along
and opened our eyes
now we just try
our best to survive
in what we have
left in this life

the fool in me
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
i try and keep him out
while he brings me down
always is around
the fool in me

not about
to shut his mouth
must love his sound
the fool in me

no lessons learned
while he takes his turn
with nothing earned
the fool in me

always first
with the dirt
but not the cure
the fool in me

like a hound
chases his tail around
too many times to count
the fool in me

runs his mouth
with no thought about
what comes out
the fool in me

Saturday
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
I woke up this morning
Before the rooster started crowing
Without even knowing
What the day held out for me

Turning on the lamplight
Wiping sleep from my eyes
Waving my bed goodbye
As the floor reached for my feet

Two or three cups of coffee
I'm thinking ought to do me
Right about now justly
As I ready myself to leave

With the keys in my left hand
The right attitude of yes I can
Take this world on like a man
Just you wait and see

I bring with me my 'A' game
It's a lot like 'B' but less lame
Otherwise they'd both be the same
Which doesn't make sense to me

I stumble out to my car
As I no longer walk that far
Used to but not anymore
The age of modern day conveniency

Into traffic I merge
Under other drivers select verbs
Most of them 4 letter words
That cause my ears to bleed

Make it to the job on time
Earlier than expected I find
Somewhere along the line, lost my mind
As it is Saturday
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
you're the figure in the window
with secrets hard to keep
double paned fogged over
turning up the heat

makes it so hard
when you can hardly see
all that you have done
why do you do this to me

you would think that you'd know better
with your reflection glimmering
that it really matters
in word and in-deed

life isn't always
always what it seems
a fault line runs through dreams
why do you do this to me

in way too deep
with my own company
with friends like me
who needs enemies

closing of the curtains
so even the fog you can't see
in charge of my own keep
why do you do this to me

"Thought Police"
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Did you just think what we think you thought
What we think we thought you thunk
Well you, my friend have just been caught
Thank you very much

As we go through what we know of you
When you're awake and when you sleep
You might have made a grave mistake
We shall see say the "Thought Police"

Did you think to do what you shouldn't do
Then in the Queue change your mind
At the slightest clue, we let the Hell Hounds loose
You'll think better when you think next time

We're reigning in the cranium
Flatfoots on the beat
Try and think that thought again
You'll think twice around the "Thought Police"

When you think to think you better think
Long before you do
With us nearby monitoring
We've got ears and eyes on you

Have you ever thought to turn yourself in
Tell us what you think
We're bound to find out eventually
After all, we're the "Thought Police"
Coming to a city near you!

broken love poem
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
there's a broken love poem
lays beside my bed
won't leave me alone
dreams of words unsaid

i wake every hour
inside every wakening hour
to its constant whisper
with its need for closure

this broken love poem
will not leave me be
this broken love poem
that whispers in my sleep

There Will Come A Day
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
There will surely come a day
When all of this shall fade away
Fade from mind and fade from view
When all that's left will be in you

No more worries, no more tears
No more regret of the lost years
No more pain from words been said
Where all is you in all we have

That day the captives will be free
To live in Christ's perfect harmony
The lion laying down with the lamb
Just the way God had it planed

On the shore of heavens bank
We will unite with all the saints
Who have ventured on before
In the Glory of the Lord

I am praying for that day
When all mankind will see the way
No more yielding of the sword
As we lift high your Holy Word

Yes, I am praying for that day
Where all of sin shall fade away
And all that's left will be to sing
Forever praises to our Holy King
Happy Easter my friends!

I'm Not Religious
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
You say your not religious
Well neither my friend am I
It was man that made religion
It was Christ that came for us to die

He came to earth with a purpose
And that purpose was to set us free
From the guilt, the sin, the daily shame
All chains of captivity

It was the religious leaders of his day
That used their power as a tool
It was Jesus that came to do away
With all the man made rules

Rules that held the people down
The same as they do today
Invite Jesus into your heart right now
And let freedom have its way

You say your not religious
Well neither my friend am I
It was man that made religion
It was Christ that came for us to die

words are made for keeping
best you write this down
figuratively speaking
unique in their sound

colorblind in black and white
spilling off the page
different as day and night
on what words have to say

words, when they join forces,
go from door to door
charting out their courses
in the use of words

~Dietary Blues~
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
My body is way bent out of shape
From years and years of abuse
That I might just make my own wake
If I don't soon enough figure out what to do

I've tried this and that, all the fads to be had
The hidden secrets to the fat burn
I've climbed mountain sides talked with gurus passing by
And still I've yet to learn

I'm setting all the wrong free as skinny keeps escaping me
It's a master on the fly
If only one time it would find time to light
Right around my inner thighs

I'm now thinking my fate is more Shake 'n Bake
Than that of long and lean
Any ideas please feel free to call on me
On my direct line down at Krispy Kreme

Play Days
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Some days I'd say
Life is a breeze
Other days
The breeze blows me
From what I've done
To what I've seen
Days they play
Hard for keeps

When what I hope
To be golden roads
Come paved in tar
For all I know
From borrowed times
To times I've bought
Days they play
Hard to own

Cold and windy
Days of rain
Feeling empty
Pretty much the same
From where I am
To where this began
Days they play
Hard to win

The Ghost of King Kong
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
If you look up at night towards the bright city lights
I'll tell you one thing you might see
The Ghost of Kink Kong swinging along
Between buildings like jungle trees

In search of the girl who shattered his world
Before that world shot him down
Tossed in the Circus they chained him to work it
But this monkey wasn't clowning around

You might see him at night with gallon tears in his eyes
Crying for his missing babe Fay
This Monkey's Uncle refuses to let go
Swinging his way back from the grave

No way am I kidding when I say he was smitten
Haunting this side with the hope
That one day he will find her and the world will be kinder
To lonely Ghost of King Kong

Slow Down, Relax, Move On
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
I've had a good life
It's time to move on
The curtains coming down

Remarked the old man
Who sat next to me
In the park, in the center of town

So much life have I seen
In my share of up's
Along with my share of downs

I hear death's whistle blowing
His trains a coming
And there ain't no slowing it down

We talked of the past
The traps of our youth
All that we had done

The last words before he left
That he passed on to me
Slow down, Relax, Move on

So I took his advice
And slowed down in life
Relaxed when things went wrong

Now I look at this life
Through different eyes
As life keeps moving on
Always a good reminder!

fragile heart...
battered, bruised, and broken
you've done your best to hold on
to who you wish you were

fragile heart...
love can be so fleeting
you took a brutal beating
when you tried to play the part

fragile heart...
excuses in the making
to overcome the aching
where X marks the spot

fragile heart...
daily in the dealing
with this constant empty feeling
hidden in the dark

fragile heart...
barely holding on
empty and alone
never really sure, who you wish you were

Ask how I am most anytime
I'll tell you that I'm doing fine
Whether or not that is the truth
That is what I always do

All my walls crumbling down
Shaky feet on rocky ground
Death knocking hard at my door
My day is fine, how is yours

Feet in the fire, heart on ice
Struggling just to get by
To tell the truth forget the facts
Doing fine now that you ask

What do I hope when asked by those
And do they really want to know
Don't they answer much the same
When they're asked how they are doing

Whether fried, boiled, broiled, or baked
I try not to give too much away
If you don't dive in too deep
I am fine if you ask me

Tail of the Years
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Hold on my dear
To the tail of the years
Don't dare let them go

Although they will try
To wiggle outright
Do your best to tightly hold on

They'll slide and they'll slip
Right out of your grip
Before you even know

It will battery and beat
As it to and fro sweeps
If you're prone to blink don't

Your hair will turn gray
As the tail wags away
And it certainly won't be slow

So grab a-hold tight
Hold on for dear life
Don't dare let the years go

I found a pair of Blue Suede Shoes
Behind the main gate
No need to say I just knew
I had landed in a state of Grace

I turned around and headed out
To where only the king knows
With every step up and down
Elvis tickling all ten toes

I walked around all over town
Stirring up the dust
Visiting all of the old haunts
Elvis must have loved

Even sat in the back of a pink Cadillac
Took the shoes off for the ride
Next to me is where they sat
Smiling the whole time

Saw a lot of Memphis that day
In those Blue Suede Shoes
I now see they were wanting me
To help set them loose

That's when the shoes turned and move
Taking me back to the place
Where I now stand where this all began
In the land of Grace

Took off the shoes just as soon
As I entered past the gates
Placed them there exactly where they could choose
Who next would take them for the day

Connect the Dots
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Did you teach yourself to freckle
Or does that all come natural
And do they cover more than just your face

The game that I like a lot
Is the one called connect the dots
Would you like to come back to my place and play

I have some colored markers
From light pastel to darker
As this work of art makes its tender way

If we struggle with the guessing
I could pull out the florescent
Then we could pull down on the shades

If you let me know your secret
I promise I will keep it
A friendly game of connect the dots, what do you say

Martin Luther King Jr.
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Daddy somebody shot that man
I heard this eleven year old say
I didn't really understand at the time
I just knew a man was dead

But with the years that followed
I came to learn how much he meant
To this world in its great need
And how well that time was spent

He preached of equality he preached of peace
As he spoke of man as one
He marched his way down city streets
Facing adversity with the face of love

He was done with all the hatred
That fills so many lives
To him color was a vision
Of equality in his eyes

A life so young a life cut short
By the wickedness in us all
Will you stand with me and follow him
Will you heed his righteous call

To call every man your brother
The way Martin Luther King Jr. did
To keep the vision of this visionary alive
A reality in which all mankind should live
I've posted this several times and will probably continue... Truly miss this man.

This Time
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
Does this strike a cord that life is short on adventure
Does your old age tend to get in the way
Well here's some free advice sister or mister
Take all you care to use then give the rest away

Do all you can in life to make you happy
Demand that a smile stay on your face
Try and learn a thing or two from the things that you go through
And underneath your suit wear a hero's cape

Always answer back with a please and thank you
It's sure to make yours and others day
Say grace before every meal with a heart that's still
And if the food taste bad don't make a face

Don't try and buy your happiness with money
It's too often easy come and easy go
There's more to this life if you'll just take the time
And you may find it's best to let things go

So if any of this gets in your business
And knocks on both your noggin and your heart
I can tell you what to do before this day is through
There's no time like this time for you to start

~Day Trade~
Mike Hauser Apr 2019
I woke up today
to a brand new day
The sun was gone
the moon in its place
They both got bored
and decided to trade
Figured it'd be fun
to do it that way

Before too long
the trade caught on
The East went West
and the West went along
Then they both disappeared
when here traded with gone
Though it all happened slow
because short is now long

Night went to day
and day went to night
Tried to trade back
but day was too dark to find
Decided to stay
when decision changed its mind
Sat back to relax
When it traded with time

The North went South
looking to trade
But who could blame
The South for staying the same
They took it out back
which is now front
Sat down to have dinner
when it traded with lunch

If you ask, yes
it was a tradable day
If you haven't already guessed
in quite a tradable way

Part Time Jesus
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
You're banking on the blessings
As you make your way
Through the blessed assurance
You count on every day

You may stop in wonder
As you wonder about it
Wearing high your hip boots
Being knee deep in your sin

You love you some Jesus
But only part of the time
You'll end up falling for it all
If you don't fall into line

You move to the motion
Of the day to day
Tossed out on the ocean
In all you give away

Never learning from the concept
They call sink or swim
With flailing arms, you move along
As you go down again

Battling the burden
That is tossed in life
Which wouldn't be such a worry
If you didn't love Jesus part of the time

~Seventeen~
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
When we were seventeen
Filled to the brim with hopes and dreams
The world was our oyster that we knew held a pearl

We had ahold of so much hope
By the long end of the fraying rope
Every day a crazy ride on the tilt-a-whirl

With no way to stop this moving train
Chugging on these rails of fame
Sure that we would all meet at that station

But some trains fly by too fast
And the train we planned most of us missed
On different rails of time, we were taken

Time to me felt more free
When we were seventeen
The innocence of it all well worth saving

But life soon enough lets you know
Who really is in control
And the uphill climb your train is facing

You can hold tight to the hand of fate
But it'll still give your past away
Leaving your memories short and lean

Thinking back now to the day
And the frame of mind that gave it all away
When we were seventeen filled with hopes and dreams

Digging a Hole
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
Been digging this hole
For far too long
My pickaxe and shovel
I've about worn them down

Wish I could say
They've been put to good use
But when digging a hole
That's not always the truth

The pickaxe is my mouth
The shovel my mind
In the digging of deep
I've worked both overtime

The handles I break
As I can't handle it
You'd think I'd learn from mistakes
And finally, quit

But quitting's not easy
When digging a hole
And how long I'll go
Lord only knows

Cause I've been digging this hole
Longer than I care to count
My pickaxe and shovel
I've about worn them both down

"The Well Of Poetry"
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
I've dipped into this well so many times
Expecting any day now it's going to run dry
Trying my luck, tossing my dime
Hoping against hope it'll work one more time

Being high on ambition, low on ideas
If you care to listen then listen to this
Whether it be a hit or it be a miss
Each poem that I write I send off with a kiss

But alas a kiss is not all they need
To make it or break it, help it succeed
Can I let you in on a secret between you and me
Poetry can be freeing but not always free

So here I am at the well again hoping to find
The inspiration needed with the other poets in line
Some say they don't need this but that line I'm not buying
We're all individuals here but still one of a kind

We all live on the edge afraid of that day
The words up and leave us with nothing left to say
And through all this I wonder if that will make
Me happy or sad for sanity's own sake

So could someone kindly lend me a dime
Seeing as through all this I've misplaced mine
Up one end and down the other steeper side
Till I've finally reached the end of this rhyme

The Story
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
There's a story we all tell
Bits and pieces of ourselves
Remembrance of the times that stayed
Forgetting that which blows away

While most of all it all rings true
It still holds tight to the lies of youth
The ones that said it'll be okay
If you hold on just one more day

But one day turned into more
Hell-bent to even up the score
Where life must feel we've done it wrong
In all our comings and our goings

Not here to say it's been a breeze
Performing feats with the greatest of ease
Learning trades along the way
In the shape of give and take

A story where we can relate
As we make our merry way
All across life's seams and folds
This story that's so often told

With the friends, life helped us find
Also helped lose some in time
This story we all know so well
With this story about ourselves

Daydreaming
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
If light is out shining
chances are that I'm dreaming
Isn't that what dreamers do
during the day
My body is here
but my mind is out wandering
Can't stay in one place
in its runaway

It could be the sun
in its daylight of dawning
Chewing on morsels
that keep my mind entertained
Caves and crevices
in its searching and finding
Where no two places it's been
have been the same

Anywhere that I sit
is not where I'm at
You can tell right away
with eyes set a glaze
Just me and my mind
off most the time
Spending that time
dreaming the day away
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
When it's all said and done
As it rolls around again
Think I'll make a run
For president

From the fiasco I've seen
Of all those in the ring
They all make it look easy
Cheesy breezy

I'll promise them this
While giving them that
And never admit
When I leave out the facts

I'll wear an American flag pin
So I'm not penned communist
While promising that
And giving them this

I'll scream at some
At the top of my lungs
And when asked of my past
I'll play it dumb

I will promise to free
Those in poverty
If they would just kindly
Give a donation to me

I will shake all the babies
And kiss a few hands
Wait...can I have a do over
On what I just said?

I will kiss all the babies
And shake a few hands
There...that's more like it
**** you auto correct!

I'll promise it all
Without skipping a beat
The straights will say Yay
While the gays dance in the street

I'll perfect the one liners
Like, it's the economy stupid
Then ship jobs to China
When no one is looking

When asked what I've done
I'll avoid the question
Until eyes start to glaze
And boredom sets in

I'll go to war
If one need be fought
Or take out a loan
If peace can be bought

Then in another four years
When all this goes bad
I'll run with the slogan
Let's forget about the past

Cause if it can be done
By all these morons
Then it can be done
By most anyone

Mistakes
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
I'm getting bored
With the same old problems
Getting tired
Of the same old way
Look around
Everybody's got one
Day after day
After day after day
Starting to feel
I've hit rock bottom
I've turned the last card
On this silly game
Smoke em boys
If you've got em

Hoping to find myself
A new mistake to make

I need to mash these
Potatoes Au Gratin
Stir this day
Into a souffle
I need to iron
And press out these problems
Do my best to keep
The Wolves at bay
Hopefully soon
Drink youth from the fountain
And watch as
The old wrinkles fade
Shine a light into
My darkened cavern

Hoping to find myself
A new mistake to make

~Why Poetry~
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
When you ask of me, why poetry
I'm not sure you understand
That it's the center of my universe
The very depth of who I am

The molecules in the air I breath
Oxygen pulsing through the veins
The storm brewing beneath the surface
The pounding of the rain

It's the timeless anticipation
Of the thought that's yet to come
The tearing open of life's seam
The beating of the drum

The first peak of the desert flower
When it feels the gentle touch of spring
The smile in the eyes of a child
And all the joy it brings

The in and out of the tide
In the pulling of the waves
When you ask of me, why poetry
What more is there to say
Wrote this a few years back but can't think of a better poem (unless someone else writes it) to celebrate.
Happy World Poetry Day!

Problem With Love
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
She's always out there searching
For a better place than this
Without her tender heart hurting
Because that's where all the hurt lives

From the top to the bottom
Chewing it over is always tough
She has got a problem
And her problem seems to be love

She draws tight the curtain
Long before the crowd even leaves
Which has them sitting and wondering
What those baby blues see

Like the way day and night takes
While also giving stuff up
She bends out of shape right before she breaks
The same way she has a problem with love

She would step off the high curb
But life's traffic is way out of hand
Low on its many promises
And much too high on demand

Before she even starts
She feels like she's already done
Where it's all inside her lonely heart
This problem she has with love

Temperature rising

Maybe I'm foolish
Maybe nieve
To draw back the curtains
To ever believe
That love at first sight
Could happen to me
This much I know to be true
But could it also happen to you

When there's someone special
The first time you see
You step up to the edge
And dive into love deep
When you find what feels right
Pretty as you please
Love at first sight can ring true
Happened to me, hopefully will also happen to you

~How Much I Needed You~

If hindsight had two eyes
To look ahead
And look behind
I'm sure then
I'd realize at

How much I needed you

Before it is
I let you go
In the passion
Of the throe
I wish then
What I now know is

How much I needed you

Before my world
Came undone
Before I learned
The meaning of true love
Before I knew
How much the cost was in

How much I needed you

Now that it all
Is different
At the very
Bitter end
All I can think of
Is back then and

How much I needed you

yin and yang
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
he's the yin to her yang
the trip of light fantastic
the color wheel to her shade of gray
the breeze if you can catch it

the open flame of the day
the hold it tight, the giveaway
the stop right there, begin again
she the yang to his yin

the raw idea in all that's meant
all that's said, all that's kept
under feet, overhead
yin to yang, yang to yin

cold are the hands
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
dark are the eyes
through which we see
hard is the heart
that inside beats
only the lonely
know of the deeds
cold are the hands
that outward reach

follow the progress
that gets in the way
swallow the innocence
in what we say
two-sided knife
baked in the cake
savor the flavor
of the escape

hold onto your breath
if there's any left
along with the secrets
that you have kept
tossing and turning
in unmade beds
knowing the deeds
cold are the hands

What's Wrong With Me
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
You look hard but you hardly notice
The inner workings of the beauty queen
All you see are the hair and makeup
Which has you think what's wrong with me

You shiver the colder on your shoulder
Heart packed neatly in deep freeze
Beauty fades as we get older
Yet still, you wonder what's wrong with me

What really counts is the in not out
So why do you feel the need to continually beat
Yourself up over what you see in others
As you steep deep in what's wrong with me

What you've got is straight from God
And believe you me, he's happy with what he sees
And he wishes that you would stop this nonsense
In your repeat of what's wrong with me

Because according to Him "Not A Thing"

This Girl I know
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
This girl I know
Once wrote a poem
The only thing it said
Was the one word "YES"

She takes walks at night
Under dim starlight
Believes the twinkling
Is their way of speaking

Likes to give a toast
Everywhere she goes
Here's to happiness
May it never rest

Has a pet rock she keeps
From the 70's
Never once did say
If it had a name

She packs a bag each day
Figures just in case
She needs to hit the road
Some days you never know

Has a small disco ball
She brings along
If just by chance
Life strikes up the band

Blows on dandelions
Hoping to find
Wishes do come true
And good times never lose

She has a Siamese cat
That makes her laugh
But in the back of her mind knows the world outside
Has a cure for that

~Time Flies~
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
Who was the fool
That taught time to fly
In a Jumbo jet plane
Like a fighter pilot through life

On bright sunny days
On days overcast
Passing through life
Going nowhere quite fast

As you hear the roar
By chance you look up
Before you even know
It's already gone

And it doesn't even come
With a parachute
It's up, jump, and run
In all that we do

Flip, flop, or fly
Ain't it the truth
Who ever taught time to fly
Is the biggest of fools

Alexander Graham
Rang a Bell when he said
Mr. Watson, come here
In 1876

With no earthly idea
Of what was to come
How we live today
With cell phones up our butts

Wherever you turn
Someone's talking or texting
At every red light
While the green one is resting

And let's not forget
The in your ear bluetooth craze
People talking out loud to themselves
Like we all care what they say

Or out and about
At a table for four
Where each cell phone in hand
Is the only thing not ignored

It does make you wonder
What Alexander would do
If he saw his seed planted
Producing this rotten fruit

Perhaps then Alexander Graham
Would ring that Bell in history
And say Mr. Watson, come here
Help me destroy this thing!

Today back in history Alexander Graham Bell made the first phone call.... Thanks a lot dude!

Part Time Jesus
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
You keep banking on the blessing
As you make your way
Through the blessed assurance
You're hoping for each day

You stop short in your wonder
As you wonder this
Do your hip boots have a hole
Knee deep in your sin

You love you some Jesus
But only part of time
You take the call from fall for it all
Living by dim light

Moving to the motions
Of the every day to day
Seasick on the ocean
Another clueless castaway

Bobbing to the concept
Of the sink or swim
Up and down with flailing arms
You go down time and again

Battles are a burden
Thrown wide in this life
That wouldn't be such a worry
If you didn't love Jesus part of the time

Special occasions you're saving
Him in a shiny box
Occasionally opening up
When you pray for luck

Still, you're in no hurry
You feel time is on your side
As you hustle in your bustle
He barely comes to mind

Taking your time, you're feeling fine
In the wasting of your dime
You love you some Jesus
But only part of the time

Liar's!
Mike Hauser Mar 2019
I've always proudly worn my pride
On the fact that I was right
Could it be perhaps that I was wrong

On most of what I knew
In everything I do
Heaven forbid, perish the thought

It hurts more than you know
When you find out you've been told
Over time a hefty share of lies

Just to keep you in the dark
Of who and what they are
The ones on top who wear a thin disguise

They like you where you are
Kept tight in a jar
Keeps the focus off their slight of hand

So they can do their tricks
Without you knowing it
Whether they're on the Right or Left

If you think you know
What all is going on
You might want to sit down and think twice

That what you think is true
Might be you without a clue
Whether it's coming from the Left or Right
