God doesn't say give up your sin
And maybe then we'll talk
What he says is take hold my hand
And let's go for a walk

I'll be with you through the trying times
As you put your faith in me
I'll help you live the best of life
Where you'll come to see, it's me you need

You'll recognize the worlds agenda
As being no place for a righteous man
Where Satan and his minions
Are creating chaos in this bedlam

To try and turn you away from God
Where we were all born to belong
Using the sin in all of us
To the point where it all goes wrong

God's mercy and grace gives us the choice
Whether or not we will be free
I my friend can only hope
The choice you choose is to believe

By taking hold the hand of God
And going for a walk
Where you'll come to understand the love
He has for all of us

I think we need a lesson
In the art of compassion
Seems to me to be the thing
Most of us are missing

Bless our hearts and darkened souls
When did we all become so cold
Who made us judge over all
Giving us the say, to say what we want

Who out of us doesn't struggle with
Controlling the will of self
When it comes to compassion
In our hardened hearts and mouths

We all need to pay attention
When it comes to compassion
We've lost the understanding
And the ability to listen

Do you not know deep down inside
Love is the answer to the question
Can't we all at least try
To have a little compassion

how many rely on the soundbite
to get their daily news
where they try and disguise all of the lies
to pass them off as living proof

a snippet here, snippet there
leaves us unaware
exactly what is going on
in this crazy world out here

so busy staying dizzy in our own lives
to even know what's going on
to where we find we never take the time
to check if it's right all on our own

we let the soundbite do its maneuvering
to what they think we indeed have a need to know
to stir up some trouble inside of our bubbles
in these lives where we think we have somewhere to be,
or at least somewhere to go

You know what I find a mystery
How we all see things differently
Right in front of both our eyes
I see truth while you see lies

Could it be our upbringing
That helps us see the way we see
Gives us different points of view
Where I see lies and you see truth

Were we not caught in mid-blink
When we all saw the same thing
This might be the great divide
I see wrong while you see right

It's as good as guessing gets
Exactly how our brains process
Does anyone know what's going on
Where I see right and you see wrong

Willing to die upon this hill
Whoever has the strongest will
Under the sun there's nothing new
I see lies while you see truth

All depends on where you lean
With our thoughts on reckoning
Whatever will we ever do
Where you see lies and I see truth

What came out of Charlie’s death
Is the truth in all of us
Contemplate how we relate
As we celebrate, love or hate

It’s hard to hide a hardened heart
Shows exactly who you are
At what point did you turn in life
Where you find death justified

There’s a fine line that’s been drawn
Between good and evil, right and wrong
Making it easy for us to see
Between those who do and don’t believe

With all our colors coming out
We crayon in what we’re about
How many stay within the lines
With decency part of their guide

What came out of Charlie’s death
Is the truth in all of us
Check yourself, be on your guard
When battling a hardened heart

Who replaced
The Golden Rule
Do Unto Others
As You’d Have Them Do Unto You

With this ever present
Babbling nonsense
Do Unto Them
The First Chance You Get

Where is the fiber
Of morality
That was once held so tight
Now it’s unraveling

Your guess is
As good as mine
Where are the morals
We had at one time

Before we were faced with
This babbling nonsense
Do Unto Them
The First Chance You Get

Back when we stood
On The Golden Rule
Do Unto Others
As You’d Have Them Do Unto You

We’ve got fascists on the left
Nazis on the right
Supremacists in the middle
All dressed up in white

As commies come in colors
That are hard at times to see
They’re still a colorful array
Of daily catastrophe

Socialists here to tell us
As a matter of fact you can
Take candy from a baby
And place it in someone else’s hand

With elitists at the top
To tell us how to breathe
And the poor without a paddle
At the bottom of the stream

All I really want
Is to be left alone
In my lower middle class
Without your fine tooth comb

Hate who and what you like
Just please leave me be
And I’ll leave you to enjoy
Your latest bout of insanity
