Last trip he jumped ship
Off life’s ocean liner
Asking you what’s that got to do
With the price of tea in China

Uninspired he grew tired
Of the massive here and there
Another sign of the times
With the man who doesn’t care

Taking all he’s given
In opinions over time
Says a fool will only do
Enough to get by

According to the warning
In the buyer beware
Much the same in what you give away
The man who doesn’t care

No need to borrow sorrow
In these days of make believe
Easily seen within reach
As they hand it out for free

Time is wasted in the making
If all you do is stop and stare
That’s why each day he goes the way
Of the man who doesn’t care

When I look at some people
I have to shake my head
Wondering at what's wrong with them
Is it something someone once said

Spending their time in doing
It's every man for themselves
Look who's doing the *******
So many now that I've lost count

When I look at some people
I have to stop and stare
Do they know their life's a frayed rope
And do they even care

They're out here walking amongst us
So many it's getting knee deep
I hope they're not contagious
Don't want this happening to little ole me

When I look at some people
I hope against hope they don't breed
This kind of problem
I know not a one of us needs

It's hard enough to get along
With the ones I call my kind
Without adding some people
That are clearly out of their minds

here we are on day one
of me being alone
as we move into day two
lo and behold, she's still gone
bring on day three
the buckling knees
four, five, and six
not sure i'll make it
all the sudden seven
how can i even
make it to eight
what can i say
day nine and ten
i sink deeper in
thinking back to day one
what could i have done
to hold tighter to
love i thought was true
this time around
riddled with doubt
questioning myself
down for the count

Let's all raise our phones
In solidarity
All those at the green light
Honk their horns at me

Every time we stop
We pull out our cell phones
Always when that happens
We are not alone

Everybody's looking down
Every chance they get
The text is clear, they all swear
They one day will quit

Every time they find
Again they are online
Every time they get online
They also waste their time

Everybody raise your phones
In solidarity
Give me a call and let me know
Do you see and think the same as me

I would like nothing more
Than to watch you grow old
Watch as your story
Before the world unfolds

See the young man
You are bound to become
But alas, I myself
Am not all that young

I’ll still gladly take
All that I can get
Enjoying every moment
That we both have left

Treasuring the time
With your hand in mine
While we do our very best
To keep the memories alive

And that you would love nothing more
Than to be with me as I grow old
Sharing in the story
As we both watch it unfold
We just had our first grandchild 7 months ago and while both my wife and I are overjoyed, I can’t help but think I’m 68 and may not be around (though no one knows the day) long enough to see him grow into adulthood, I will enjoy every minute of the memories we’ll be making ❤️

There is a deep
Ever growing need
Where the breeze of the sea
Calls out to me

Tosses and tussles
My thinning hair
Making me wish
I was still there

What the waves have to say
In their defense
Is they’ve also missed me
Since the moment I left

Soon to return
Back to the beach
Where the breeze of the sea
Daily calls out to me

If you're wallowing in doubt
Wondering what life's about
Find you're more depressed as time goes on

If you're in need of a good laugh
With no idea of where it's at
I'd kindly like to tell you where to go

Where the in crowds hang to mingle
To experience the tingle
When you need a lift just hit that funny bone

What you find to do will soon ensue
Letting you know yes, it's true
Sending you up against the ropes

Instead of calling into question
To help you out with far less guessing
This little ditty is something you should know

Where the in crowds hang to mingle
To experience the tingle
You're not alone, just hit that funny bone
