to communicate
words spread love
as well as hate

to lift you up
there's a fair amount
to bring you back down
if you get too proud

words when we need
to make a point
hoping that we can
knowing that we won't

words with hidden meanings
show our inner feelings
words that we imply
in our daily dealings

words are here to say
what some struggle to display
words we use for greetings
before you’re told to go away

when it comes to words
we cannot ignore
just what they do
and what we use them for

I’ve grown weary, I’ve grown tired
Of being forced to play this part
In the latest losing production
This B-Movie of yours, out of sorts

All I’ve lately come to know
Is acting out this one role
While you play heroes and villains
This audience is struggling to cope

There never seems to be a script
To go along with the craziness
It’s hard enough to follow
The drunkenness of your ad libs

I’m not looking for a staring role
But neither am I a walk on
I hear there’s a part that’s coming up
In another film so wish me luck

I tire easily of B-Movies
Played out on the streets but not the big screen
As I ride off into the sunset
Let the credits roll behind me

Find someone else for your B-Movie…

I look around and have to wonder
Why God Almighty would choose me
Far removed from days of thunder
Swaying more like a wind bent reed

How could I be of usefulness
To the mighty plans of God
I feel I am a man far less
Deserving of any applause

That is when I am reminded
Of those chosen in the past
God's not looking for perfection
But a willing heart to tell him yes

God knows of all our weaknesses
And completely understands
Knowing what is best for us
Is to place it all in his loving hands

As he holds it all together
The way he has from the start
Both the Alpha and Omaga
Wants to use us right where we are

If you too look around in wonder
At how God could possibly
Use you to achieve his purpose
It's not us but his own strength,
in which he will achieve

We daily cross the path
With those that do and do not have
A strong grip or is that grasp
On the life they wish they had

They either know or do not know
What it means to hold out hope
Trying to make it on their own
In the throes of, that's all she wrote

That's why they choose to lean heavy
On the downside of history
What to keep and not to keep
Find they're bound to repeat

The same mistakes their fathers made
In the way that they behave
What they say and do not say
The least resistance along the way

In what they do and do not have
As they walk along the path
With a loose grip or is that grasp
On the life they wish they had

there are those
that grab ahold
as well as those
that let it go
there really is
no way to know
how or when
the wind will blow

there are those
who know to cope
with the mess
that this life throws
and also those
out of control
who paddle against
the river's flow

there are those
that hold out hope
and then those
against the ropes
who wrestle with
themselves alone
with the easy come
easy go

with open eyes
and open heart
do you know
which one you are

you could be these
you could be those
honestly
do you know

aren't we to
love our neighbor
treat each other
much the same
because we need
one another
not run for cover
when placing blame

aren't we to

as we would have them
