The Race
"A girl and boy went for a walk. The walk turned into a race. The girl won, but it's okay—the boy took second place."
I decided to write an early reader coloring book and word search.  I teach  K-8 and I really think my lack of maturity gives me an edge.

BACON
Right eye woke,
Left eye shut.
My nose is smelling… what?
BACON!
I’m UP!

The Cat and the Cow
I put my old cat up on a cow.
I had to reach up high.

The cow went moo,
my kitty flew.

I didn't know that cats could fly.
Another poem for my kids activity book that I'm writing.

Giant Problems
1
My name is Tom. I live with mom.
I have some Giant issues.
I'm such a wreck. Hang on a sec.
I need some Giant tissues.

#2
When I sneeze, there's such a breeze.
Trees and houses tumble.
They get so mad, it makes me sad
To hear the people grumble.

#3
I'd run and hide, but last I tried,
I fell and hit the ground.
The valley rumpled, the mountains crumpled—
You should have heard the sound.

#4
A young boy, only two—
I was the same as you.
I was bigger by three
And by four,
I grew more—
I was almost as tall as a tree.

#5
It’s hard to sit,
find clothes that fit,
And friends?
I’ve never had one.
They’re scared of me,
But they can’t see—
I am really fun.

#6
One morning,
without warning,
a storm began to brew.
The rain fell,
the river swelled,
and thunder rumbled through.

#7
The river rose, it spilled and flowed—
It rushed right through the town.
The people screamed,
the houses leaned,
And fences tumbled down.

#8
I stomped my foot—
a hole I put
in a field by the town.
One stomp did make
a giant lake,
must be two acres round.

#9
The river waned,
despite the rain.
The people stood and cheered.
“Oh, so brave—
the town he saved,
the Giant that they feared!”

#10
Smiling faces,
welcome places
greet me every day.
My troubles ended,
now befriended—
they invited me to stay.

#11
Ten years have passed,
my friends at last—
in peace and love I live.
I wake each day,
searching for a way
to my friends, a gift to give.

#12
One final thought—
the love I sought
was always mine to claim.
“My friend,” said Elf,
“just love yourself,
and your story ends the same.”
I wrote a children's book.  I teach grades K-8 so I'm at similar level of maturity.  I hope your inner child enjoys this!

Sammy's Birthday!
I have a snake
That slithers and slides.

So green in the grass —
It's easy to hide.

Today is his birthday,
I made him a cake.

Happy birthday to Sammy,
My slithering snake
More kid poems. I need 25, I wrote 10. Wish me luck!

The Magical Man
The Magical Man
With a wave of his hand
Stops the world
As he fiddles and tinkers

He gives youth to the old
Comforts the cold
Feeds the hungry and gives drinks to the drinkers

He then cures the sick
With a smile
so quick

For the sad and disabled
He makes room at the table

BUT there's still work
As he ponders
Walking and wanders

What to do?
What to do?
What to do with

The racists, hate-haters
The for-fun agitators
The mean and the greedy
The liars and seedy

But the good will go where
With none to compare

Will they even be needed
With the bad so depleted

So the Magical Man
With a wave of hand
Simply smiled
All his changes deleted
Sometimes I wish for Super Powers because if they do exist. Somebody is asleep at the switch.

The Cutest
A puppy and kitten were talkin’,
"I’m cute!" — "I’m cuter!" But then…

A baby chicken came walkin’ —
The cutest is the babe of the hen!

Flowers
I hugged a flower for an hour —
Oh, the pollen between my toes!
I tried to hug another one,
But a petal went up my nose.

Size Matters
I have a twin that's stuck to me

He's 6 foot 4

I'm 5 foot 3

How do we move

Well let's see

He holds me in his arms sometimes

I bought special shoes

Now walking's fine

My special shoes are 1 foot 1

With my new shoes

We walk and run
It just to crazy to keep in.  My family just rolls their eyes when I speak.

Colors
I slipped in a puddle of yellow —
The fall made me really feel blue.
My mom made my favorite red Jello…
Don’t feel green — I’ll share it with you!

Spring
I planted a seed,
I’m watching it grow —

Praying for both rain and sun.

What did I plant?
You reap what you sow.

The waiting is half of the fun.

Time
Monday and Tuesday
Went pretty fast.

It's the beginning of summer —
I hoped they would last.

I'm watching the clock,
The slow hands, not fast.

I'll make Wednesday tick slower...
Oops — Wednesday just passed!
