I'll be your wool scarf
Shielding your
Throat from chilled air

I'll be your paper
If you need
To write about those
Who didn't treat you fair

I'll be a warm cup
Of coffee
Staying up through
The nite
Against my eyelids
Wishes, I'll fight

For you

I tried to find the milky way
but it was camouflaged
by bright city lights
and the haze from
overpass fumes

I grabbed a sharp knife
and cut through the haze
that's when
the sky
split into two

From the incision
billions of dreams
after years of collecting
in the void
began to rain down

Flooding the streets
after hitting the ground
settling into cracks
and gaps in the pavement

The people panicked
and broke away
from their living room
screens
rubbing their eyes
it was hard to
believe

That's when the ground
quaked below their feet
buildings shook
artificial light went dark
the earth cracked
apart

Black clouds
ruptured from the
cracks and gaps
giving way to
neon rays
the people left speechless
as they witnessed
the dazzling display

Everyone starred silently
at the hypnotic beams
that's when it struck
them
They all shared the same
dreams

Someday I want to
see clearly
with my eyes
closed

We are a collection
of fear
of what we will
regret
when we are no
longer able to
take in breath

Everyone fears
leaving a blank
journal
behind
For those
readers who
survive

Somewhere
out there
in the world,
someone is
kissing their
lover
for the first time

While another
is
having a
new round
of
drinks
hoping to erase
the memory
of a kiss
from their past

Nothing
is
invisible
when we're able
to see
negative
space
