it was fleeting
it meant nothing, really
but it warms me inside
to know
we share something
that i will never let go

the moon, the sea,

and thus in your mind
a word contains the world
in which lives the person reading this poem
that holds
the wor(l)d

The waves withdraw
From the shore's warm embrace
Recoiling from the sand
Away from its touch
Yet they come crashing back
Rejoiced by the earth
Only to depart from the ground
