Yours
is peaceful strength;
I see you settled,
ankle perched on knee,
head bowed
with the weight
of male thoughts;
alien mind,
I cherish you for
that little smile
cast in my direction,
hardly a twitch
of those subtly
curved lips
but I see,
I see.
Oh, if I could
press you
into myself and
drink the masculinity
of you, become one
with it and
truly know what it is
to be a happy man,
I would.
For me, it is only ever
the imperfect joining,
the spill of fluids
and your ragged breath
caught in the cup of my
mouth.

The morning light only became beautiful
as it reflected off the soft skin of your face
the smile dancing playfully on your lips
the dreams still awake in your eyes
and what light could be more beautiful
than the radiance of the song of your heart

to witness such splendor
to be a spectator of such graceful miracle
if this is not heaven
the room you adorn with dreams
from the flowers of eternity
then there is no heaven
there is only you
you and love
Keep your eyes
On the pavement
There’s no telling
When it will begin
To drift away
To turn to rust
Or to drive
Itself crazy
So trust
You are alive
For a reason
Or a season
You can certainly
Try to hide
Your feelings
Keep them all
Inside of you
Or perhaps
That won't work
Sometimes
Love is just
Busted compromises
And wheat crusts
While we dust off
Our condolences
Solemn somnambulists
Seek retired singles
In obligatory
Obituary columns
Reprimanding angels
Fill our
Dinner tables
We are all lovers
Suffering
From a fatal dose
Of something
That tastes a lot like
But is not quite
Total honesty
