I sat there watching the people pass
As I laid lightly upon the grass
Thinking thoughts that were a struggle to contain
Swirling at lightning pace inside of my brain
And in my heart something screamed
As a blissful song went unredeemed
I looked to the sky and admired its blue hue
Company is company but *none of you will do
Room 1648
Opening my eyes to
The streaming sun light
Stretching my body
In the heat of the day
To the sound of the sea
Seeing
How lucky I am
From the 16th floor
Looking out at
Sweeping palm trees
Stretch of South Beach
Echoes of beach life
Resonating all around me
Feeling the freedom of happiness
Of peacefulness
Finally

Down at the beach
Sand between my toes
The rolling waves washing
Over me
The taste of salt on my lips
The wind in my face
I lose myself in the expanse of ocean
Glistening under intense sunshine
Your depth of care eventually saving my life
Binding us together as husband and wife
Feeling the freedom of happiness
Of peacefulness
Finally
I wrote this poem last April when we were in Miami. It's been a rollercoster of a year but he is always there for me.

A. E. Housman
Here dead we lie
Because we did not choose
To live and shame the land
From which we sprung.

Life, to be sure,
Is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

I read once that
people who can’t
sleep are either
in love or lonely.
And some nights
I can’t tell the
difference
between the two.
Feelings only
become real
after 2 am,
While everyone
sleeps and I
lie awake
trying to hush
the swirl
of churning
thoughts and
memories that
still linger.
when the only
solace is sleep,
I find my peace
in the daylight,
the drinks, and
the medications
that make the
memories stop
showing inside my
skull and help
the darkness
drift In with ease.

You are beside me.
Silent and steady.
I am not alone.
I wish I can hold you, elusive.
With daylight, you are gone.
Moonlight on my bed.

Your body writhing.
Breathing, sparsely pinstriped with gasps and kisses.
Drawing curves already there, perpetual perfection.

Lustful passion, glazed with yearning, crowned with jealousy, jaded with affection.
A constellation of emotions, collapsing with just one whisper.

Warmth

Paint such visions in my heart
In this cold, feed the dying hearth
Tread where my footprints are in this snow
My lovely, warm me, don't let go

Hear me calling amungt the noise
Rest in the rumble of my voice
Feel as the warmth in our blood grows
My lovely, warm me, don't let go

Sing such songs from year before
Dare me, tell me to fear no more
Home is you and all I need know
My lovely, warm me, don't let go

I will kiss your hand as we close our eyes
Hold you close, your breath my lullaby
Let our love stay on the straight and narrow
My lovely, warm me, don't let go
