Does your heart jump over the sun?
Does the sun seem as near as the ground?
Does your blood rush and burn?
Do your knees fail to keep
the poise you've been polishing to show?
Do I seem real? Do I make sense?
Does everything but me seem to blur?
Is the whole world too slow for you
but then you can't seem to catch up?
Do you find it hard to breathe?
Does the whisper of my name
scream endlessly in your head?
Does the bittersweet sensation of this situation
linger even after you awake?
When you see me,
Do you feel like I do when I see you?
This poem is a decade old, written back in 2005.
I want to softly whisper
on your collar bones
that don't rhyme with anything
but your heavy breathing.
I want to bury my face
in the curves of your neck
because you smell like the winter clouds
and I've been gazing at the sky
since you left.
Sometimes your heart needs to be broken
So you can see what's underneath,
To the flicker and flame of your soul
That you've always been destined to meet.
Sometimes your spirit shines brighter
Through the glimmering light of your tears,
And when you arrive at the end of it all
Love will outshine the darkest of years
If it would make you mine,
I'd sing every **** song,
name every star that shined.
I'd say the lamest things,
rhyme all the corniest rhymes,
if it would just make you mine.
Drink all the sparkling wine,
refill your hot cup of tea,
Oh I will if it would make you mine.
Swim every beach,
every restaurant I'd dine,
whatever just to make you mine.
If I fixed all the bugs,
walk my fingers up and down your spine,
will that make you mine?
I'll add a new zodiac sign,
sleep on an earlier time,
if that will make you mine.
If I call you mine
even when the sun doesn't shine,
will that be fine?
I'll be more kind.
I'll be yours until years after the end of time,
if you'll just be mine.
