Dear Heart,*
In the past you've suffered pain
I know that you are there again
Wish there was something I could do
          To make it all okay

Dear Heart,
I know that you rely on love
And that you never have enough
But like most everything in life
           It's easier said than done

Dear Heart,
Want you slow down and take a breath
If there is any of it left
There's someone out there for everyone
You just haven't met them yet

Dear Heart,
I know how easily you are moved
Over what people say and do
Please take these simple words from me
And hold them up as true

P.S. Dear Heart...
        *I still believe in you

Eliza Jane
“Closure”, he said.
She watched a door close, happy to be on the right side of a shut off room, leaving the room full of babbling thoughts & sun-spots.

Together, they watched their own rooms be hidden from sight; his, a grand oaken double door, covered in intricate carvings and inscriptions - ready to fling open at just the right moment to shower a chosen woman in love.

Hers, a small, worn, yet loved door; sky blue with chipped paint and a nine-pane window, the glass clear as a mirrors surface & similar in its ability to give all who enter a view of themselves and their desires. This door would creak open again too, and slowly release seemingly infinite amounts of love, steadily trickling from her heart.

Both doors would one day open again, maybe together, maybe by each other, but for now, they were closed. Hopeful lovings not yet open for viewing. A promise still growing in the ever-lightening hidden rooms.
semi-fictitious?

~18 Inches~

Sunday's find you sitting in the pew
Listening to the words being said
Catching a few as they're thrown at you
But most blowing over your head

It's not like you haven't heard them before
After all you've been here for years
You know most of the hymns as you hum along
Even a couple might bring a slight tear

Back in the car, Bible back on the dash
On the go as your running late
You'll dust it off next time in the Church lot
It's not like during the week you share your faith

Cause it's all in your head but not in your heart
Just a few short 18 inches away
Don't be the one to miss out on the love
Between those 18 inches today

Next time your in Church, take in the word
Breath in deep the truth being shared
For it's inside the heart that God does his best work
A soft heart's more pliable than a hard head

God speaks something new to you daily
It's your job to listen with a wanting soul
Though it's easier to say than be done I'm afraid
But listen closely cause God wants you to know

Don't give dust a chance to settle on your Bible
And the wear it gets shouldn't be from the sun
But with you turning the page as you study each day
Able to share the Good News with everyone

Cause it shouldn't be all in your head but also your heart
Which is just 18 inches away
Please don't be the one to miss out on the love
*Of those 18 inches today

Disaster Child
I see a lot more than you think I do
I told you I notice everything
Every breath you take every glance you make
I promise my love, I wasn’t lying
I knew they were gone, and you looked so fine
Lovely and bare; precious and all you
Then you put everything back how it was; hiding yourself; covered up
I see a lot more than you think I do

I cannot but put words to the sight before me
A best friend, sleeping safe in my comfort
There is nothing like it
No words will ever describe
The peace I see
The safe she feels
To rest in my presence
To trust me watching over her
To dream quietly
Her gentle breathing
Her twitching smile
Her serenity is visible
A woman places her confidence in a man
Trusts him to look over and keep her safe
And even from fifty-bajillion miles
She believes me to be doing just that

I love you best friend, sleep well knowing
When your eyes flutter open
I’ll be the first sight you see
Never leaving while you sleep or wake

Dandelions still the night with kisses,
Teasing the wind at my lips;
It isn't too wise to wish-
But oh! Dandelion Moonrise,
What are your wishes?

Observe, oh watchers!
Look up into the pale blue sky
Do you see it? Can you see it there?
The pale blue smile drawn out
The same twisted smile she wore
On that chill mourn
The seasons change; it is a constant cycle
Spring had come and still she haunts
I was first shocked by her appearance
Then a calm swept over me
Now months have passed and she
Rarely crosses my mind
And yet I see her everywhere
The flowers dance in the cool breeze
It is her breath whispering
The budding branches sway gently
It is her frost covered hair
And each blood red sunrise
Against the vanilla morn
Reminds me of the seeping wound
Against her lovely pale flesh
The seasons change
But the memory has still not left
It did not melt away with the snow and ice
But rather flourished forth
Like the flowers and trees
Oh how I await summer
When it is likely to burn bright as the days
And rest clear as the night skies
Sequel to A Chill Mourn

They See A Different Me

I know it's just the outer shell
That other people see
Not knowing who I am inside
They see a different me

They think they know who I am
And how I will react
Only see what they want
Not gather all the facts

They will not ever question
Can't bare to know the truth
Think they have the answer
To why I act the way I do

They do not know how I feel
Not exactly where I stand
What it is that I believe
Or who I really am

I know it's just the outer shell
That other people see
Not knowing who I am inside
They see a different me

Disaster Child
Her joy overflowed as she skipped and pranced about
Not caring that they were wandering a busy store
He didn’t mind the locale either, but being so close, he couldn’t be without
And just as their arms stretched til they could reach no more
He pulled her back against him tight

The sadness in your eyes

I see you on the corner
As traffic passes by
I watch as people never see
The sadness in your eyes

They all walk past pretending
That you do not exist
They will not see the sorrow
Or the life that you must live

I see you on the corner
As you hold your cardboard sign
Hoping that just one may read
And understand your life

You do not bother others
You sit there in your place
With a cup that reads spare a dime
And sadness on your face

I see you on the corner
As the traffic passes by
I watch as people never see
The sadness in your eyes

I see you on the corner
