Leila The Kiwi Mar 2020
There's not
Much space
Between
Where we
Stand

If we
Wanted to
We could
Reach out

I'd be there
For you
I'd hold you
In my arms

But you
Won't take
That step

Before I die
I want...

To know why.

I'm watching the movie ' All The Bright Places.' There's a scene where they're writing on a wall, filling in the blank after 'before I die I want' and that inspired me.

I stroll this
Rose garden
Each plant
Represents
A previous
Love

The lusher
And brighter
The flower
The stronger
Our connection
Had been

In the corner
Are a few
Petite
Roses
These loves
Never
Fully
Bloomed

But I
Still
Cared
For
Them

I'm usually overlooked
Sitting beneath this willow
With a tin can at my feet

Many just carry on
But sometimes
Only sometimes
People share
The wealth
Of their smile
And kind eyes.

Stop pretending
You don't know
What's happening
Here

You've always
Played the part

But I see
The crack
In your grin
The knife
Behind your back
The faults
In your
Performance

I've been captivated
Absorbed in the show
But you're the same
Character
Each time

I already know how
The story ends
I've had enough
Of your twisted tale

Find another audience.

You feed me chocolates
From blood-stained hands
They taste bitter
They taste sweet

It almost
Makes me forget
My black
And blue
Smile...

Almost.

l.v.s
I was flicking through the book I write poems in and found the first stanza in there. I thought I would expand on it. It's nothing personal, just words.

I left you
In the
Hourglass
I'm sorry
I let you
Get lost
In time

l.v.s
I woke up and the hourglass idea came to mind
Leila The Kiwi Feb 2020
I can be
Cute,
Funny,
Silly
And
Exciting
I'll bring a smile
To your face
It'll feel as if
You're next to
A soothing fire
Warm and comforting

But look around, please
Notice the bare trees
And snow falling
I hope you have a coat
Because things can be cold
Your teeth may chatter
You might be shivering

I hope you
Make snowmen
And have snowball fights
With me

We can lay before the light
But we can also find
An adventure in the elements

If you come here
For the cheerful soul
You were told about
I must prepare you
For me being a woman
With many seasons

If that's something
That you can bear
Then you can come near
I'll welcome you
With open arms

l.v.s
The title inspired this poem, I got a mental image of a cottage in the snow glowing from within.
