Mary R Short, a new poet and friend of mine has posted a few poems now. When you get a chance, please read her as well and give her a welcome.

Thanks... Joe
the nagging pinpricks that flower in my chest
every time i hold my tongue
when i could take a stand
exhaust me.
some days i wish i were not stirred
by every minor injustice,
by every casual -ism.
i am not all angles and shards.
some days i am soft lines and rounded edges,
some days i am petal-small and twice as fragile,
some days i am tired.
some days the inevitable backlash
of speaking my mind
can send me reeling.
the accumulation of anger and dismissal and mockery
piles upon my shoulders
and seems sometimes too heavy to carry.

but even on these days,
these quiet, glass-***** lows,
i know why i am fighting, and
i know to the core of my being that
i
will
never
stop.

You're sweet like chocolate
that runs through my mouth,
your name still my lips
rhyming about.

I'm drawn into your arms,
and I miss you every time;
our love tastes like chocolate,
we couldn't lie.

I'm drowning in blue,
fantasies are out of control,
you left butterflies in my mind;
we're supposed to be cool.

Your eyes are my windows,
even curtains were torn apart;
you're just a girl
breaking someone's heart.

I promised myself
not to fall in love again.
Our love tastes like chocolate,
suddenly it melts.

Feel like dancing,
I.

If Dr. Who
Can
Boogaloo,
Then
So
Can
I.

Rose
Is
A
Rose
Is
A
Rose,
As
Dr. Who
Knows.

And dance on the bridge
Of the TARDIS,
They
Did.

Enough
Now
Of
Dooms
And
Emergency
Weathers....

We Dance
Hilarious
Dances
On the TARDIS
Bridge.

Tomorrows
We
Cannot
Imagine
Before
And
Yesterdays
Behind.

We
Pause
for
A
MO...

And
Just
Dance.
Just watched Episodes 9 and 10 of the 9th Doctor Who. Rose and the good Dr. dance on the bridge of the Tardis after saving future of humankind, which was nearly destroyed by rogue Jack Harkness' accidental release of medical nanobots into the atmosphere.... The celebration of life and success was intoxicating! Recommend!
Don't have to be rich
Don't have to be poor
Don't need a window
Don't need a door

To choose Life

Don't need to be fancy
Don't need to be plain
Don't need to be dry
Don't need to be rain

To choose Life

Don't need to be clumsy
Don't need to be handy
Don't need to be duncey
Don't need to be dandy

To choose Life

Don't need to be good
Don't need to be bad
Don't need to be Mom
Don't need to be Dad

To choose Life.

Don't need to go up
Don't need to go down
Don't need to smile
Don't need to frown

To choose Life.

If I choose Life
I'll know what to do
My Life-osophy guides me
Should always ring true

To Choose Life.....
Each And Every Day

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

I bring coffee in the mornings
To help warm his inner soul
We talk about the life he lives
How his day it will unfold

I give advice on where to go
When the weather gets to cold
Knowing that the words I say
He hears but will not hold

I check on him each morning
And make sure that he's alright
Hoping that he heard my words
Found shelter through the night

He tells me that the bottle
Is what keeps him warm inside
I know that he will not let go
Of the comfort it provides

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

You set the table just so,
with candle light's warm glow,
musical notes drifting on air
with the wine you serve,

I'm there.

But then the meal arrives,
with bones for my throat,
bitter poison,
leg of goat!

I notice the wine has lost its clarity.
Now you laugh at the perceived disparity.
You rise to leave, say you've lost your appetite;
I've ruined your supper, your planned delight.

You! who so carefully arrange brutality,
crafting my demise with skillful hand,
I won't be served by you again!

I finally found my own clarity,

I'm sweetest champagne, well chilled;

Now, I realize it was your own disparity
once your evil brew was distilled:

Never mine, never mine
I'm sweetest wine, sweetest wine.

*a toast to the ex
The refrigerator did it...

Results are in,
The crime is solved,
The botnet's done its ***** work;
The refrigerator has been caught
Just standing there,
But running just the same,
Cool as a cuc...
Never mind....

No appliance now is safe
Connected to the Net;
Programs roaming find some space
To pick up every megabit,
Conscripting all the little brains
Thinking on their own
To join together,
And while it's cooling Easter ham,
My fridge is on a mission now,
Releasing spores of spam.

We fixed your heart, it's all spare parts
Your liver ugh, we threw away
This one's new, the one we grew
It's going in today

Those wobbly wonky worn-out knees
Let's consign them to the past
With these bionic ones you'll see
You'll run twice as fast

Need new eyes? It's no surprise
We have all you need and more
Take your colour and your size
Down to our new store

Your genome's on our database
There's nothing we can't do
So come on down, no time to waste
It's everlasting life, guaranteed for you
