but i still remember the ghost
of your smirk on your face
it's been fourteen years
but i still remember the way

it's been fourteen years
but i still remember how you used
to ruffle
your unkempt hair;
and catch the winged ball with
your swift hands
it's been fourteen years

my hands used to shake as a child
they were spears to be impaled upon
and my teeth,
knives;
i remember feeling lonely
and then you came along
so i shed my skin each month
and waited by the tree

there i realize that more than a decade has passed
and i am still waiting for someone who will never come;
i am alone again

and you touched the lives of everyone around you
the tendrils of your flames and your fire, extending and overwhelming;
