The Performance

The curtain rises,
Swishing its many disguises,
Every face ever worn
Ever since you were born.

When audience's show
They sit down, stand up and go,
In and out of your life
Like your mother and wife.

The music is strange
Like your costume change,
One minute a rhapsody,
The next a parody.

I wish I could pretend
The dream could never end
But the boards you tread
Are only in my head.

A little more make-up perhaps
To hide the missed lines and gaps,
Such swagger and finesse
In your childhood sequined dress.

To whom are you playing?
The crowds that are beying?
Ignore them, my dear,
Dying is only a fear.

Critics can be cruel
To such a pretentious fool,
I can't always be my best
When sincere and undressed.

They'll never know
That you've fallen or how low,
Just be what you want to be
Because I know you are me.

The curtains shut,
The audience tut tut...
"Overacting!" they shout
As we try to get out,

But hey! I'll dream some more,
Life or death for the encore?
Artists don't have to conform,
But please heart......just perform.

Explain to me why
In my dreams you kiss my lips
But in life leave me

The moonlit water
My mirrors stare back at me
It is silver glass

Hot is the summer
Waves of heat rise from the sand
The sun scorches the earth

Red is the night sky
Their blood was shed on the field
The soldiers lie still
Being your slave, what should I do but tend
Upon the hours and times of your desire?
I have no precious time at all to spend,
Nor services to do, till you require.
Nor dare I chide the world-without-end hour,
Whilst I, my sovereign, watch the clock for you,
Nor think the bitterness of absence sour
When you have bid your servant once adieu.
Nor dare I question with my jealous thought
Where you may be, or your affairs suppose,
But, like a sad slave, stay and think of naught
Save where you are, how happy you make those.
So true a fool is love that in your will,
Though you do any thing, he thinks no ill.

Everyone's favortie thing
In the mirror
Drunk
Sober
Cracked grins and halfway smiles
It's how we walk
or
lean against that wall
Photos
Job Interviews
Time with friends
or family dinners
it's how we hold our drink
or
Drive our car
Clutch that cigarette with fingertips
or
two knuckles down
We all love to pose

I fear this
Everyday
Being happy is too scary
Just to live has been so hard

Lie awake at night
Crying because I've been feeling
Feeling way to much
