R
the feeling of finally
knowing what it's like
to feel euphoric is
better than really
loving
you.

I waited for the train to come
as I do everyday.
Standing. Listening to heavy metal.
Full volume.
Fingers playing the drum track on my lap.
Station packed with strangers
until she walks by.
She's the one girl I see everyday take the same train,
just standing a couple meters from me.
I almost smiled as she passed by,
but I was too shy to do so.
She's no model. She's no movie star.
She has sad, shy eyes hiding behind thick framed glasses.
Long, black hair falling down her shoulders.
She walks a little hunched from carrying her backpack.
And still she makes me too shy to even say hi.
I know nothing about her.
Not her age.
Not her number.
Not even her name.
All I know is I like her,
and that today I let my chance pass me by,
yet again.

Temptation's bridge
Still stretches through the darkness
Tonight I'm sure
To cross it one more time
I long to feel
Those pretty lips slip open
A warm sweet push
Inside the curves I wind

I can't resist
The touching tenderness
The longing aches
That multiply desire
Where shadows arch
To peaks of rising pleasure
In sweet sensations
And waves of endless fire

That's why I go
Back to the nights that were
Always predictable
With feelings that were real
And you are there
To reward me one more time
To relive golden moments
Incredible to feel

Or I could go
Into the empty future
Where passion never goes
Not much there to gain
It can't compare
To that old bridge to darkness
That prism in my memory
Where pleasure knows no pain

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
And haven’t spent countless nights wondering how their voice saves you,
Or how their laugh is such a beautiful melody you cannot put into words,
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
Then you haven’t felt the first love butterflies,
Or the quiet sound of eyelashes against each other’s cheek,
As you kiss them for the first time.
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
You don’t understand the feeling when they hold you close,
As if gravity could never keep them down to Earth.
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
You haven’t felt the exploding emotion of feelings,
And feeling like you heart and soul will combust into dust,
When they say they love you for the first time.
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
You haven’t felt the red hot anger building in your throat,
And the tears coming down like waves from your eyes,
When the love suddenly goes away.
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
Then you cannot understand the emotion,
Or the words you wish you could form,
When they say the same words to someone else.
And you feel like an old photograph that was lost in the attic.
Then you are lucky.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
You do not know what it feels to watch your heart fall apart,
And crumble like soft rock dissolving in water,
Knowing you could never love someone as much you had loved them.

If you haven’t fallen in love with someone yet,
Then you are lucky.

(Inspired by the 56th Psalm of David)

They laugh and they chase ~
Hot on the heel ~
And I'm tired and weary;
In pity I kneel.

My blood has been spilled;
The battle is lost,
And the fighting is fierce,
My soul tempest-tossed.

So put my tears in your bottle
And write me a song;
Count every tossing and turning
And right every wrong.

          My God, whom I trust;
          My God, whom I praise;
          I shall not be afraid.

Do you hear when I call?
I know that you do;
Then stand me right strong,
Or else I shall fall.

I am a poor boy, forlorn,
And gripped in fear;
Screaming in the night,
Hoping you hear.

So put my tears in your bottle
And write me a song;
Count every tossing and turning
And right every wrong

          My God, whom I trust;
          My God, whom I praise;
          I shall not be afraid.

Walking straight barefooted
No looking back now
Feeling the cold breeze
Smell the white leaves

Falling leaves
I can't pick them all
My sorrows and sad lullabies
Falling leaves
I can't pick them all
My grieves and your sad goodbye

Words so beautiful
can only come
from a beautiful mind.
