sleep or your freedom
I wished to hold her against my will
And envelop her in smoldering flames
She said,
Why’d you have to go and ruin it again
When all we had of love
Was much greater than pretending
We never knew the extent
To which we were being dishonest
Those meretricious arguments
Only fed our discontentment
She claimed, we seldom slept
I begged to differ
We held passionate vigil
And reveled in our bloodletting
Go to bed, she yelled
It's time to sleep
We each need to find some peace
If we are to ever speak again
When push comes to shove
I admit i was wrong
To have ever trusted her

honey in the raw
a poem is like honey
for the tongue
a bee stung your lip
and made it swell
I lost my grip
and down the apple fell
way down
down to the bottom
I bent down to grab it
but tripped and then I slipped
on the oily floor
so sore was I
I became ignorant of the ***
that was burning
all around me
a triad of strumming
humming and drumming
love is ancient and equipped
to do battle
with the fallacies that we follow
like flies to the fields
like dreams that never yield
all their memories
like cheese wheels gone sour
our hour has yet to come
while grizzly bears stare
at steaks medium rare
fair children face the sun
and are burned with love
return eyes to magazines
let your heart spread like wildfire
threads are tied together
like millions of strands of light
brighter than the sun

waves from the underworld
There is dirt on our phones
So we polish them with our bones
Combine pine-cones and pyramids
To see the stars in your eyes
They are dry like the desert
But perhaps we are thirsty eagles
Advancing along the edges of oblivion

Keep yourself clean
And dream of my heart
We never parted
We just left each other alone
For to die happy is to find your home
So comb the sand
And do handstands alone
When you remove the demands
From your sentences
And speak in sweet undertones
You'll see the feelings
That you've already known
From here to there we've grown
Into our houses and homes
I'm waiting for you to return
Like ocean waves on better days
You once sprinkled water upon my soul

crescent eyes
I sold my rope to a dreamer
Her crescent eyes held fast to signs of hope
You removed your clothes and found my sleepy soul
And consoled me for nothing
When did we get hunted
Hungry wolves ripped off our clothes
I suppose you were waiting for something
Or someone new to come along
Sunlight always sparkles
At the first crack of dawn

Just because you lack character and have
Nothing relevant or useful to relay

as dharma fades
sweet serendipity pouring through our veins like honey
timeline tragedies are existential certainties
stolen virtues and symbols of power are certain to remain
i wish to show you something that you’ve always known
in the tower of love we shall take our cover from the fire and the rain
forever faithful even after the entire world has been swallowed
in the flames

sweet embers burning
the state of the world is turning
towards darkness again
as dharma fades
what shall we name ourselves
when all is lost
what cost will we have to pay
how can we live again
there is no other way
save the road of innocence
all is a gamble
a sentient mess
the world is fading fast
as despair rises
its hard to know what to do
sing or dance or run away
give up hope or rock the boat
what an ephemeral day
starts out fresh and ends in sorrow
burns the fingers and soothes the soul
tomorrow is another opportunity
are we going home
or heading into the shadows
what are we here for
the lion roars and bares his teeth
as we sink into deep remorse
unsure of ourselves
we cast longer shadows
and break our spirits
darkness meanders like a heavy fog
the road is long and windy
spines are twisting
like vines for climbing
combining memory with freedom

a song for a friend
blowing leaves fall far from branches that release them
undulating dreams that quietly seed the seasons
becomes the ground's tightly woven web of meanings
she's returning to a faeries den astride a hive of thieves
to hide the falling leaves and eyes that see them
frequently forgotten in the aging light of evening
our heartbeats combine to produce the sound of dreaming
remember that daily baths of suspicion and treason
suggest that we are all undeniably yearning for this beating
yet, I say untie yourself from these meager meetings
and welcome home the infinite mystery that's greeting
family, friend and foe ensure each other's bleeding
and help to release the pain and sorrow that is no longer needed

this infinite being presides over our frustrated creativity
i see women dreaming like symphonies
serendipitous discoveries
individual recoveries from addiction to imprisonment
symbols surround our mountains
and draw us down from the ethers into present day realities
i choose to face the fire of the architect directly
stardust collects on your shelves and altars
stall as long as you wish
for procrastination can not touch this
who found infinity first
to brag about it would be laughable
i question our obsession with thoughts
why we validate some and consider others repulsive
can there be value in individual concepts or only in conglomerations
chains of misnomers
all skandas are fundamentally empty
including form, feelings,
perceptions, formations and consciousness

what a refreshing feeling
that existence is cheering for you
pushing you forward
towards your destiny
all you have to do is let go
and accept support and love
its all naturally wonderful
and yet we wonder about our value
if we are not struggling we forget to give thanks
if we are not puzzled we forget that we are amazing

what a way to grow and learn
our hearts are bigger than our homes
sweet waters and violet thrones
our shadows taller than our souls
have you heard the echoes
of owls in the forests
the queen of the jungle
her eyelids are painted black
swollen in their act
of becoming images
forever bitten by candy striped gardenias
soldering irons are hotter than the sun
your darkness is something to outrun
keep chasing images and you’ll go blind
the time is now to rest and unwind
green trees bring traveling companions
to their knees
i believe in my soul
wholeheartedly
i follow my impulse
a tragedy of enlightenment
shadows of retirement
infinite abyss
harboring the mystic
out of time and space
i run from mind and place
look behind you
are you aware of reality
the tiny details
the cracks in the pavement
bearing fruit
can you see the way

your presence caresses me like a feather

wild blunders
letting go of mind and body
out of this dichotomy a world of flowers blooming
forever is in the choosing
to see the water’s beauty from inside our hidden towers
thousands of broken flowers
threatening to reveal the truth that we are returning
to the burning days spent singing in old cathedrals
streaking naked in the woods
dreaming upright streams of cottonwood
treetop dancers stand upon the crashing boughs
deepen their stance and make flashing elbows
your feathers are wet as yesterday’s snow is melting
how many years till the pelting of the sun with arrows and stones
commences to cover up our coats
of fur, tooth, breath and bone with armor
your faith is cheap so you repeat the weakness of the elderberry
your syrup stealthily dripping, stripping, ripping
a wealthy dreamer hungry for the sun-dried lobotomies of love
the watershed depends on nothing yet it remains
ugly and unsteady and ready to drop you without warning
love is deeper than still water
it is all about alabaster and descending melodies
the viola serves his daughter’s laughter
in symphony’s ancient slumber
projecting this imperfect world as a boy masters his box of toys
stepping out into the abyss like gargoyles on the corners of rooftops
i stop and wonder how we plundered so much of the universe
despite the treasures that were never uncovered
did we misplace our souls in the bargain
in stolen mansions deep within the forest
stallions cast shadows on straw covered blankets
asleep in thyme’s meditation
i deliver the delicate feathers of the mother
to swarms of stormy eyed children drifting in meadows
forests of wildflowers matching our emotional temperament
again we separate the wheat and the chaff
the oat and the staff of ancient Syria
stood tall and bowed before
all the youthful interpreters
foregoing is ambitions cursed gesture
We remain motionless
And a portion of me knows
That I am already insanely famous
So come close and face it
We are infinite silence
As if art were all magical islands
And infinite forests
Histories of violence and tornadoes
Escape our lingering kisses
We resist the finish lines
And make lists of all the lullabies
You've ever had sung to you
In deep sleep we dream
Of trips to the amazonian rain-forests
Hunting for magic carpets
We keep returning
To the exact same pages
That we've always started on

Pockets of peonies
Replete with felonious undertones
This music sings through space
We upstage our own angels
Who have fallen into place
To the depths of their fate
They make a soft landing
Held by time's grace
They repel the light's bending
While biliousness bulges
And consternation compels you
Is it corpuscular or crepuscular
Neglect that commands you
To make your escape
Do you select denial
As a worthwhile opponent
From the depths of my being
To the depths of the ocean
The sea floor is waiting
For you to touch
Her unfathomable bottom
Its never easy to escape your prejudices
For the shadow is ever lurking
Beyond your uncertainties
We are all floating
On top of a volcano
If it never erupts
We’ll not know the difference
But if it does
There’s not a chance in a thousand
That we’d survive long enough
To heed even one of these warnings

the desert hearted cactus flowers
once in a single lifetime
your river-bed is made
to be drenched in the raw moonlight
by a cupola of vanilla frosting

I am weeping in a willow’s arch
at the foot-hills of a mountain
two streaks of colorful music that became trees
and infinite magical branches
the size of slender fingers
counted for all the sleepless nights
spent upon bottomless pools of nectar
at the center of your star-mirrored navel

stumbling down a trail
of ear-shaped spirals
then falling into a tiny nest
of moistened shadows
ten lips, one eye, and two hearts

We already share the same tree of life
And fuel is only as bright as the ultimate, really
We come from hundreds of angels wrestling
Welcoming the shared commodity of love
Back into our shattered skylines and economies
Consternation was constructed from dust
So we encrusted rubies and revolved on our butts
I trusted you to crush me correctly
Instead you became funny
And money fell from your fingertips
Now we bring humor to the dying
In lingering dreams of the aristocracy
Among the other moondancers
We alone fancy a rush of nothingness
When less than a decade ago
We could still find lookouts for our shadows
I resume the music as fumes drip vaporous
And campaigns to elect our democratic fathers
Are merely shambles of something
That once enraged us but now just ramble on forever
Until we can't wait to end all this target practice
But we are still mere artifacts of human hammering
Instantly building our secret languages
Where we will speak nothing but tired gibberish
To a enlightened community of solipsistic symbolists

We end the way we begin
our lessons are set to renew themselves
to diversify we must try something new

Reuse and relearn
our outlook is our own to play with

Let's defy gravity
smile at our insanity
remedy our insoluble arguments

Dance in the cloak of darkness
superhuman struggles
like finding love
among the muggles
Swarms of wasps infest your houses.
Cannabis is smoked on the horizon.
Plants watered and driveways paved.
Your life is about how much money you've saved.
What a sad and lonely way to die.
If a pair of pliers and a phone call,
Could have saved your life.
Then the price of anything,
Is probably just a little bit too high.
It takes two point four
Cents to make a single penny
In a post-delusional world
Exists an antediluvian deluge
Of fuel, food and fossils
Reducing our carbon footprint
Is categorically equivalent
To sweeping up our tracks
And is as forbidden
As the tampering of evidence
Or a denial of all that we lack

Similar to the way you moved with purpose and attitude.
I was bound to attract your attention.
I recall the falling feathers of our fathers.
Like sand washed out to sea.
Bleak eternities spent in separate parts of reality.
Reality’s basements are being washed clean.
Flooded with water and covered with the dampness of feathers.
Feet rustling on the pavement. We beg for entertainment.
Company is coming over. To discuss plumbing and retirement.
Jumper cables upon your refrigerators.
I look into your eyes to deduce the algorithms for remembering.
Your blemishes are no longer rubbing me.
Your lungs were made for pumping oxygen and steam.
Yet we keep it airtight and dry. While aliens were coming for my eyes.
Your irises were dreaming of me. Meaning is always fleeting.
So I borrowed your compassion.
And danced on the Sun. You turned into a living goddess.
But you became just a memory to me. For freedom is never free.
It’s always drifting between sarcasm and sandwiches.
And it can never EVER be found on Reality TV.

someone who really
truly knows something

I really didn’t know where to turn
Until I fell into your arms and learned
A lesson that hurt but was truly necessary

Dancing w/ Dionysus
I have a healthy space
That I cultivate each day
We are all architects
Of our own time and place
We are infinite weavers
Of sublime ministries and arboretums
We are blooming leaves and plants
And the tiny fingers that grieve them
We are all Apollonians engaged in battle
With the heartless hedonists in our midst
But we're also dancing Dionysians
Who know that you already know
What's best for you to believe in
I am a firefly on your wall
And long before the fall
I held you tenderly
In my embrace
What a chase yet we never really escaped
Nor made it back from that place
So we attack ourselves in the kitchens
With faces full of ice cream
You laughed and said who is the victim now
I came close to closing the door
But instead i wrestled you to the floor
And cuddled you
In case you forgot
Just how f@!#$@! beautiful you are

happy-ending
Do you think it's a mistake if i stay here all alone
With you tonight and we end up naked in your bed
Can we pretend like we never asked for this to happen
Some people think that you and I were meant to be
But I think it's all just a story in need of a brand new ending
Maybe if we were to fall asleep at the wheel of all our feelings
We would wake up tomorrow in the ER in need of some recovery

dance floor
give thanks that we can work it out on the dance floor
everyone knows there is more to life than a high score
so come get your fix of this sonic deliverance
while all of my love is here for you to indulge in

the right to bare arms
Smack dab in the middle of the season
You seized them by their cojones
Accepting all our feminine values
Can never turn us back into men
Remind me of the muck you bared
Like growing mustard greens and sharing your wealth
We uncover millionaires in their health clubs
Doing nothing but killing themselves for free (love)
Now men are boorishly standing up to women
To remind them of their choice to bear children
Or to openly perform complex arthroscopic heart surgery
Still we are fortunate to live at a time
When you can decide approximately
How many fingers you'd like to have inside of you
Its true that we have more to lose than our pride
And at times we experience the same arrested development
So why not join forces for the embellishment of our stories
Your allegories destroy all my categories of interpretation
Did you really think you’d get away with it
Why can't we just let the world know
That we don’t need any more specious people on the block

Celibate sages are ageist it seems
A common propensity of sheep(le)
Is the ineluctable need to get married or procreate
In this heat we are all defeated repeatedly
Underneath a level of arrogance i breathe
Dripping sheet-rock from my knees
We are trying to show by degrees
That I can embody what I need
If I am really the healer that I long to be

mysterium tremendum
god is the mystery
that lingers on the lips of eternity
turn me into everything
i am your obedient child
make me an example
of your generosity
i am immediately elevated
solely by your presence
your essence is immanent
though life is impermanent

mercury is buddhilicious...
a follicle of light is falling
from the house of midnight
troubadours wrap our imagination
in jasmine and other heady fragrances
gypsy eyes steal salt water from tides
and return them to our adjacent lives
keep mustard seeds by the bedside
and burn irises like incense
hours fly by and leave us hurting
like piles of rusted shirts and clothing
her luck has begun to expand
but man still demands his fate
redecorate your cozy cottages
and receive your visitors' disguised hatred
make music burst throughout this garden
as lonely brushstrokes reach out to touch her bottom
i am moving, doing, and having faith only in the theater
she is carrying fetid water with feet bloodier
than those burning skyscrapers bound to her posterior
