He guards his love, he cannot hide,
A spark that burns, yet scars inside.
For though the heaven may turn away,
His love lingers, a light stays.
The way you lean close to hear me,
Your whispers brushed against my ear.
The murmur danced through sleepless nights,
A lavender haze in soft moonlight.

You wore it that day, just because I like lavender,
The gentle bloom, you were cute.
And when you winked, my heart began to race,
My cheeks turned red.

I've seen you cry and held them in my arms,
Shielding your pain, protecting you in my arm.
One cold day, you turned and walked away,
No words, just silence.

Now strangers we are, as though we never met,
A fleeting whisper written in regret.
Your eyes are jewels to my treasure
Your skin is like a sheet of the universe
Your hair, like galaxies holding onto stars,
I can see them when I wash your head.

I will never forget your mouth
And how it curves when you say, "I love you."
If God calls me again,
I will ask for one more minute listening to your voice,
Because that already feels like heaven,
And I will go by choice.
Many times I've loved,
And many times I've
Written about love.

Many times I've left,
And many times I've
Written about leaving.

I've loved with my
Heart in hand,
Blood pooling,
Words flying
Out of my mouth,
Crashing upon their skin
In an act of valor.

The same thing
I could say about leaving
Words sharp,
Striking like the edge of a storm,
Breaking upon the silence.

But it was just love,
And I wasn’t brave.
And it was just leaving,
And it wasn’t brave.
FROZEN LAUGHTER

we dashed outside
as the sky was
falling

“Crunch...crunch...crunch! ”
chanted the snow
as our footprints chatted to it

in a bold red
booted voice
and slowly a bird

wrote itself across the sky
with such careful
calligraphy

& our laughter
froze
right in front of our noses
