Thinking of A Place...
Relaxing my mind with a peaceful song,
hoping the world would come along...
Joining me to find that special place,
where all is well with smiles on each face.

Childhood memories can always bring,
joyful hearts filled with pleasant things;
I escape today into the freshest scene,
where all is lush and forever green.

Running along the sparkling river's edge,
climbing trees and jumping o'er the hedge;
Racing my friends to the ice cream vendor,
while yearning for this summer splendor !

Awakened with a heart that's full and grand,
remembering our days on the sumptuous sand;
The trembling ocean roared with a lion's cry,
and it was always so hard to say goodbye.

I've thought of this place for hours today,
when times were innocent, free, and gay;
I must share all the moments I can recall,
before summer slips quickly into Fall !
For the child within us all !

Perceptions of Reality
When visions play upon our lives,
in varied images that survive;
Perceptive signals from a space,
will crowd emotions into place.

The stalwart stance of mindful thought,
seems stuck in future's promised vault;
But viewing every present notion,
it follows trails without commotion.

Reflections from the past apply,
appearing lost in timeless cry;
As treachery ends its battered ways,
revelations cure the wanton craze.

When integrity captivates with style,
inspiring reality along the miles;
Each mortal being plays a role,
in merging halves becoming whole.
Past, present and future often converge as one, in a spiraling world of changing thoughts and perceptions  !

Ferocious Flambeaux
They burn intensely in the blackest night,
from bubbling cauldrons of complexities;
Soaring openly into the cavernous skies,
and freely energize their raw abilities.

Destructive through their raging flames,
so far beyond mere mortals' comprehension;
Compounding aching wounds of hearts' lament,
in scorching psalms that bear each raw intention.

Among the massive canopy of fading stars,
entangled and dispersed by sparks of flight;
Soon connect along a wildfire's fearsome pace,
and through the paths of heaven's burnished light.

So fierce a power now set upon release,
The smoking torches quickly gather force;
creating empty spaces scorned and charred,
In history's relenting chase from sins' remorse.
The fires that burn inside of us take flight and eventually dissipate into the dark of night ! Some return, but not without consequence !

Tomorrow
In hallowed echoes of mortal sounds,
the days rush by like the wind;
Our fervent search for valued worth,
dismisses each careless whim.

As crucial as the day is long,
our thoughts become encircled;
By vacant images that realign,
reaping fortunes of a miracle.

We never lose our solemn vow,
to take the journey to its end;
But often stirred emotions break,
when we hoped they'd simply bend.

So if today appears to float on by,
with nothing more left to gain;
Tomorrow's tale will soon arise,
relieving our suffering and pain.
every new day brings a world of possibilities !

Clearly...He is Summer
Hazel eyes content to watch the sun,
in morning's light when day has just begun;
No clouds of doubt are painted on his face,
his arms of love I happily embrace.

When romance flourished in the summer sun,
his voice reminded me that we were ONE;
Our treasured moments at the water's edge,
inspired the forming of a lifetime's pledge.

With souls receiving joy from azure skies,
our hearts combined as ONE in spirit's eyes;
His tender touches calling me to home,
as shining eyes aroused the yielding moan.

This vision of eternity brought to mind,
a subtlety announced in reverent rhyme;
And clearly summer gave the best to me,
while frothy waves came crashing from the sea.
For my husband !

Prisoners of Time
Despite the lingering days of Spring,
perceptions are fleeting and rise within;
And with those regrets we take to heart,
the ancient rules of living soon depart.

Caught between past and present times,
our future visions form and fall in line;
Before moving ahead a backward drift,
conspires to halt our souls' heavy lift.

A blueprint of moments lay at our feet,
but the clock keeps ticking toward defeat;
Yet hopeful signs for conquering ills,
assuage our guilt with their careful skills.

If death then befalls us from wasted years,
and sins cascade down into bitter tears;
Our souls awaken through anguished hours,
and bring purpose like rain refreshing flowers.

So break down the walls of mistrust and dismay,
seeking love while sharing this glorious day;
And though we'll remain prisoners of time,
fears fade in the repentance of our crimes.

A Moment's Grace
Sitting alone in a nearby church,
pondering the life around me;
Wondering why we all seem lost,
in this truly complex society.

Surely I'm not the only one,
who questions the role of man;
Determining how to make amends,
and love one another the best we can.

Lighted candles glow on the altar,
as white roses lay at Mary's feet;
The mother of Christ whose son sacrificed,
His earthly life without defeat.

This lovely place I often visit,
where peace and calm take my hand;
Inspiring visions of a world that's whole,
as we interpret our Lord's own plan.

One moment of grace is all we need,
to give of our hearts each day;
This humble gesture can only prove,
our blessed mission is here to stay.

The Hourglass
As I sit and watch the sands of time,
sift through this hourglass of mine;
A tune keeps running through my head,
reminiscent of all the words unsaid.

We had plans to make our future bright,
until you left me all alone one tearful night;
And when you finally called from far away,
I knew your faithful love had gone astray.

Did I ever lie to you, to cheat or to complain ?
when stumbling through our anguished days of rain ?
And when you lost your job that fateful year,
wasn't it I who demonstrated heartfelt cheer ?

You never warned me of your deep desire,
to explore another life without this fire;
Of passion that I thought we'd always shared,
so now I'm left with nobody to care.

The words remained unsaid just like the sands,
were wicked wounds which ruined all our plans;
Yet with this hourglass I still recall the time,
when I was only yours--and you were mine.
I wrote this LONG ago as a heartbroken young lady. It was tucked away under some old papers. Luckily, I've found the truest love in my wonderful husband whose deep devotion always touches my soul !

Bridge to Sanity
While traveling down relentless highways,
still trying to discover where to find;
The essence of tranquility and love,
to halt the turmoil poisoning our minds.

Emotions streaming in an endless fury,
enraged by all the purposeless of life;
Fraught and fearful of misguided echoes,
that dampen spirits' cause to surmount strife.

But worlds of raging anger climb above,
in perilous words that lack civility;
As the crassness of each mournful missive,
tends to feed upon the public's sanity.

Yet in the air a solemn pledge will rise,
from past histories defying caustic themes;
And suddenly the storms are put to rest,
by brave revolts against satanic schemes.

As if a bridge appears amidst the haze,
where highways cross the ocean's mighty force;
While following our hearts to greener pastures,
we're set upon and clear and righteous course.

By Lamplight
In the purple depths of evening,
when the moon and stars fade away;
And the air is filled with mystery,
as the spirits come out to play...

There's an inspiration growing within,
a mind that's filled with gloom;
To tackle all the demons which,
have lived forever in this room.

Grabbing pen and ink I start,
to describe my inner thoughts;
The lamplight glows before me,
bringing comfort to my heart.

Yet still the motion of my mind,
spins like a twirling windmill;
As each word I write is garbled,
quite distorted and unfulfilled.

The lamplight starts to flicker,
and suddenly I'm aware;
This notion of pouring out my soul,
has given me such a scare !

The wretched night moves into day,
before I have the chance;
To recover from this episode,
then from the desk I glance...

Outside into a perfect dawn,
a springtime gift from up above;
The cobwebs cleared I close my eyes,
seeing the face of my true love.

He's softly whispering his feelings,
of sweet devotion through the hours;
Which calms the storm within me,
and restores the lamplight's powers.

Innocence
In his eyes the secret of my pain,
mirrored softly in the gentle rain;
Knowing very soon my days would die,
within the ghostly shadows of our goodbyes.

The words between us had all been said,
the torment lingered long inside my head;
Our tears had blended with the falling rain,
revealing hearts which sang a lost refrain.

With a childlike innocence our love was born,
as friendship carried us against the storm;
We laughed as if the world was honor bound,
discovering the depths of life's sweet sound.

But somehow in the twilight feelings changed,
our miracle that magically had proclaimed;
Soon faded with the moon and all its stars,
and disappeared like dust among the meteors.

How well I can recall the hours we shared,
the beauty of those days without a care;
And in my aging years the memories stay,
to comfort me--as if you'd never gone away.

Foolish Heart
As I felt the kisses of the flowers,
your sweet temptations urging me on;
With the heavenly scent of your auburn hair,
stirring my heart to the promised land.

With one embrace the air was fragrant,
the sand was fresh and soft with rain;
You held me close to your aching body,
as joy followed passion's exquisite pain.

Somehow it all seems as in a haze,
of sharing languid summers by the bay;
When eager cries grew soft and mellow,
then heartsick--I learned you'd gone away.

When we're young we can feel intensely,
the burning desires within our souls;
Reaching out--if only to faintly touch,
a chance to shed the fear of becoming whole.

Foolishly we can forget ourselves,
and let life's notions float high above;
Experiencing romance for the first time,
with emotions lifted up toward truest love.

Yet recalling all those youthful memories,
not changing one brief moment in time;
Believing a foolish heart is better than none,
we discovered how the lyrics finally rhymed.

traveling to whereabouts unknown;
Imagination stirs our inner desires,

Magnetic energy pulls our deepest thoughts,
into a maze of magical creation;
Vibrant colors shape our infinite view,
and lighten our hearts with sweet elation.

We're set amidst a huge cornucopia,
of comets, stars, pixie dust and meteors;
A cavalcade of grandeur and wonder,
like confetti falling delicately to the floor.

At dawn we'll awaken with inspired visions,
of future worlds with endless possibilities;
From the elaborate journey far beyond the rainbow,
which has lovingly shaped our sense of reality.

Once Upon A Springtime
Once upon a Springtime's glowing rays,
of sunlight far beyond our happy gaze;
The seeds of flowers sown into earth,
with pretty petals shown upon their birth.

We laughed the shining afternoons away,
while sipping sweet and frosty lemonade;
Beneath a vast umbrella of turquoise skies,
I felt that love was surely beautiful and wise.

A poem from your heart was gently spoken,
this aching heart of mine no longer broken;
Your tenderness joined with a hand in mine,
while showers of daffodils appeared sublime.

Once upon a Spring I felt your touch,
the breezes in the air were soft and lush;
That season stays forever in my mind,
as memories ring out from church bells' chimes.
Inspired by a song called "Once Upon a Summertime" written in French by Eddie Marnay with the English translation done by Johnny Mercer. This romantic tune is sung exquisitely by Barbra Streisand on her French Album, Je M'appelle Barbra, from the early 60's. It has always been one of my favorites !

Private Worlds
The mind is like a private world,
that spins within a sphere;
Of engaging thoughts and mystery,
with ideas not always clear.

It's a place we can always call our own,
unique in its expressive ways;
Sensitive and sweet yet often cold,
like a record that continues to play.

Frequently it lets someone in,
to share an opinion or two;
But sometimes it just closes up,
when it doesn't like the view.

Creative forces always at work,
to free it from despair;
Disruptive as they may often be,
are imbued with fresh, clean air.

We'll never know the strength within,
this quizzical part of man;
It's a game of chance to let it go,
to follow a life-long plan.

But wherever we go our minds evolve,
reaching out towards a treasured world;
With the privacy of self-indulgence past,
emitting echoes that shape and swirl.

In The Evening
When the daylight dims its shiny face,
among the sky's exuberant show;
Our hearts are mellowed by the mist,
and once again the moonlight glows.

In the evening when the whispering trees,
tell poignant stories of a summer's love;
We hear their mournful voices crying,
to reach heaven's starlight up above.

The night grows soft in perfumed air,
of sweet jasmine, wisteria, and violets;
The canopy on high becomes a rainbow,
of varied hues from a sumptuous sunset.

A hush soon envelops this welcome scene,
while hearts embrace its wonder and romance;
The porch-swing sways as subtle tunes,
caress us with the joy of Nature's dance.

Awareness
Escape is not the way toward resolution,
a runaway soul needs more than quick solutions;
While mindless measures trample every chance,
to see the changes wrought in tactless glance.

Despite new moves that carry you along,
those shattered scenes create a mellow song;
And when each word of comfort goes awry,
the heart grows restless for sweet lullabies.

In haste the mind's uneasy sense of fate,
renews sad memories than can never wait;
And the lonely waning hours of the evening,
foment all wretched fears upon the grieving.

Reflecting now on visions fraught with terror,
encircling the outer edge of 'now or never';
A sudden burst of life reclaims the soul,
as wisdom takes its place in honor's role.

The ocean carries us all on her shoulders,
in its expressive and emotional turbulence;
Yet something exists within this raucous energy,
reaching down inside us with a fond embrace.

They say all life began in the ocean's depths,
where creatures thrive--both exotic and unique,
And as we learn more about the mysteries below,
our eyes open wide to their haunting mystique.

But what I always glean from the salt-water's edge,
is pure serenity which floats above nature's power;
The surf pounds the sand with beauty and force,
and solace fills my heart for endless hours.

which inspire a spiritual love no one can erase;
To endure through every challenge before me,

guardian angels follow us in flight.

Sweet sounds now touch our fearful souls,
as we search to find our faithful role;
In God we place our hopeful prayer,
whenever life seems beyond repair.

Fading Light
As evening falls about the town,
and silhouettes of trees abound;
A dusky haze surrounds the moon,
as she lifts herself in rhythmic tune.

The sun has faded from our sight,
while making room for sky's delight;
As shadows dancing 'round in play,
dismiss the vivid signs of day.

Lying low on the dampened green,
the crimson sky emits a gleam;
With soft and tender strains of light,
that glow so gently through the night.

Give welcome to the mystic face,
of shining stars and planets' grace;
As the easy flow of nature's way,
now captivates in magical array.

Every Moment Glows
Reaching out and calling your name,
each moment without you is such a shame;
In my 'heart of hearts' the memories arise,
As I look around with tear-filled eyes.

The moments past when romance glowed,
the kiss, the touch, the feelings showed;
My mind is spinning throughout the night,
as I dream of holding you again so tight.

Why it all ended, such a mystery !
we had so much, the sun and the sea;
Your eyes were bluer than the skies,
but you left me alone against the tides.

Love is eternal, so the prophets say,
with spirits flying like children at play;
Yet often when the nights are long,
I still can hear our mellifluous song.

OVERCAST
The sky is covered with woolly clouds,
for days they hovered above;
So impatient for the sun to shine,
with its gleaming light of love.

Walking toward the river bank,
I pause to toss a stone;
Onto the rippling water's edge,
where gulls fly about and roam.

Cold and chilled I hang my head,
with sadness as company;
I want to run from all my fears,
and blossom whole and free.

But overcast the world remains,
despite my heartfelt prayers;
Now crying till the angels hear,
my wistful words of despair.

Yet when the new day breaks upon,
all the faithful waiting long;
Will bask in heaven's radiant glow,
and sing their own sweet song.
this is one of the first poems I ever wrote...simplistic but with a hopeful ending !

The Parting Clouds
The heavenly sight of whirling clouds,
makes one ponder the sky's delight;
When fluffy pillowed pinks and grays,
converge and float away from sight.

In autumn one sees changing skies,
that cover the earth in violet hues;
Cool rains often energize the air,
so fresh and crisp from harvest's muse.

But the simmering sun soon finds its way,
shining on pumpkins like topaz stones;
And while the clouds have sifted past,
a pure aqua sheen recovers its home.

The russet days of October arrive,
in their vastly uncommon elegance;
While the winds begin to scatter leaves,
as purple clouds invade their presence.

The velvet canopy of autumn's sky,
refreshes our life on earth below;
And breathing in the cold night air,
we watch in wonder of nature's show.

Legends
Gone now are those we leaned upon,
for wisdom and care throughout our lives;
They've reached their heavenly home above,
where answers are honest and never contrived.

They were the wonders of our souls,
the stars which burned brightly each day;
Everyone sharing compassion and insight,
carving out paths to help find our way.

Now they rest, those thoughtful folks,
those who shared our visions of light;
Sweet memories stir deep emotions when,
we pray and bid them a fond goodnight.

Always look up to those golden skies,
and you'll feel their spirits among us;
The past and present merge together as one,
while hearts are filled with honor and trust.
for my beloved 'elders' who've passed onto a new world.
thank you !

Whereabouts Unknown
The wandering echoes of our minds,
complete the verse in shameful rhyme;
Combining visions of sin's distraction,
while trolling paths of costly actions.

These enemies of thoughts persist,
through varied voices' promised gifts;
Pursuing all the senseless powers,
destroying lives through endless hours.

Then spiritual reign becomes a joke,
if crushed beneath the words we spoke;
Instead of praying for our release,
we wallow in our loathsome grief.

Surrounded then by tainted vows,
our worth diminished in the clouds;
However, then, did we go wrong,
from the shallow lyrics of a song ?

Walking along the silent road,
thinking of where I've been;
Taking the time to set to rhyme,
all the music flowing within.

Questions have always haunted me,
the answers never seemed to come;
But in the melodies of the night,
I hear the beating of a drum.

Or is it just my lonely heart,
that thumps inside my chest ?
And when the darkness rises full,
will life's purpose come to rest ?

Yet in the moonlit skies above,
my quest seems small and meek;
For soon the rains of autumn fall,
laying kisses upon my cheeks.

Fragile
Fragile as a feather or dew-kissed leaf,
the heart can be torn like tattered cloth;
A pearled wedding gown tossed aside,
to be flung away and chewed by moths.

The perils of commitment's mysteries,
with feelings warped into wavering lines;
While damaged goods offend as solace,
but uphold the remnants of intended crimes.

And to the 'maiden fair' our sorrows go,
who waited many years for 'perfect love';
Her pale demeanor in loss portrayed,
as torment from the disavowed betrothed.

Into her bed our gentle lady remains,
while friends wonder if she can ever be;
Released from this false and grim betrayal,
or eternally held captive in solemn grief.
Reminder of the days when ladies took to their beds when shunned at the altar, lying heartbroken and ashamed.

The Lilting River
Under the spreading clouds on high,
inside my skiff I gently glide;
Watching the calming water flow,
while golden skies put on their show.

As I lazily recline inside my boat,
my thoughts and worries seem to float;
While drifting on as in a dream,
my soul connects to this quiet stream.

The lilting river seems still as air,
and peace embraces my heart so fair;
I've carried onward through the day,
and stop where children come to play.

Reflections of my one true love,
which shines in waters of the cove;
Mirrors my life as it should be,
as I set upon the restless sea.

Rejoice in Shadows
Along the path of righteousness,
rising notions that are limitless;
Promote the lights of love and cheer,
rejecting minds encased in fear.

Inside a world that's mostly gray,
a friendly shadow shows the way;
Into a place which comforts all,
and spirits answer worthy calls.

Among the shadows that reappear,
are those which banish anguished tears;
For when the road seems quite insane,
this friendly shadow takes the reins.

My shadow falls across the land,
preparing me to take a stand;
To help the lowly victims of,
the evil that destroys all love.

And when the dreams of angels die,
a second shadow fills the sky;
Where empty hearts can soon recover,
in vows to cherish one another.

RESTLESS NIGHTS
Asleep or awake the clock ticks on,
playing its same ridiculous song;
Fast or slow my heart is beating,
in motions that seem lost and fleeting.

A mournful night clouds memories,
of daylight hours in succulent breezes;
The wicked winds of darkness gasp,
while stars grow old in moonlight's grasp.

Frightened now I call out in pain,
but no one answers my plaintive refrain;
Warned by shadows of bleakness deemed,
that sleep won't rescue me from this dream.

A sickening feeling pervades my soul,
as forces beyond this scene unfold;
With nightmares of my past mistakes,
which cause my body to quiver and quake.

Yet once the morning light appears,
the episode dissolves in moments clear;
And with the sweat pouring down my face,
are signs of sorrow the dawn has erased.
