Because the night refused to slip away,
I offered you a place beside me, on the bed.
We spent the night cuddling, smoking,
Exchanging words previously unsaid.

Because the night refused to show the moon,
We set up torches to light up the yard,
And we had dinner on top of a cloth,
Below millions of stars reflected on your cornea.

Because the night refused to see us,
We kissed and danced and napped.
We flirted and smoked again.
We explored each other in the torchlight.

Because the night refused to keep clouds away,
It started raining, so we ran inside.
I kissed your neck, your chest, your belly,
I kissed all of you, even the parts you hate.

Because the night refused to stay awake,
The sun caught us laying on the bed,
Only bedsheets covering our bodies,
Only love surrounding the room.

Because the night refused,
We loved each other.

I walked through a town
That I once knew
Walked not drove
And that's how I knew

All along the side of the road
Bottles and cans strewn all around
Flattened cigarette packs,
General ******* and such
Stark reminders
Of those down on their luck

We drive past such things
Each and every day
We don't blink an eye
Nor do we say

Maybe that fellow
Could use a lift
It's pedal to the metal
And around all lifes corners

We drift.

Things not going well now
I'm ready to crack
Satan himself
Laughs at my back

Waiting and hoping
The pressure will take
I'll say something awful
Like God is a fake

That's how he gets started
How he gets in
Turns you against God
And welcomes you in

I'm not that foolish
Sometimes I'm bothered
But he'll never deny me
The love of my Father
Going through rough patch, but I'll not give up.
If I could just be your little daydream,
Then that will make me happy,
Sharing a space
With all the other thoughts
In your beautiful mind.
