Early morning before
anyone has ordered coffee
and I feel delicate in the dewy
sun with the heater on low
at my ankles, I reorganize
the drawer below the register
gingerly feeling at staples and
rubberbands, Caleb watches from
the corner on tea with raspberry
in doc martens and ***** trousers
I wonder if I seem as pretty as I
feel or if he feels the staples too and
the dust from gift cards, if my hair
flares out in the light, if I am a brilliant
solar eclipse.

Hoodoo, Voodoo
Anything that you do
Think of what it will do
To your friends

Buildings, Guildlings
Masonic or class rings
Remember what the choice brings
When you choose

It's not so simple just to disconnect yourself
It's not about the way that you ***** yourself
There are so many things that go beyond your eyes
And the many things that remain are just disguised

it's almost nine
and for a moment
I was at Ye Olde
Curiosity Shop down
by the bay, buying
grape pop rocks,
and you kept
asking for kisses
just to feel the spark
but your eyes said so
much more.

He told me
“Once you start,
There is no end
Your life will
Curl and curve and bend.
Doesn't matter where.
Must you go south,
North, east and west?
Then go, I don’t care
But I should warn you,
Never rest.
Must you leave me?
Must you drive,
Fly and sail?
I’ve tasted it once;
It’s only fair.
I don’t think
I’m mostly sure,
That your wild,
Thirsty heart,
Is grand and pure
And I don’t think,
I am oh very sure,
That you will never be
On the brink
Of becoming bored.
Go find all that’s
Hidden, untold,
Hunt for your own
Silver and gold.
Don’t follow the steps,
Dig through your own road
Fall in love once, twice
Grow warm and grow cold.
When you travel
You haven’t got a home
But be sure,
You’re never alone.
When you travel. Take it all in,
Open your eyes wide
To lights, bright and dim.
And merge with the ground,
With the water
The people, the town
Be the lost and be the found
Remember every note and every sound
Every street fair, yen and pound
Every story from every lip
Bite at the memories, tear and nip
When you travel
Remember well
The essence is not
What’s left to tell
It’s not in riches
It’s not in years,
It’s for you,
For joy, mourning,
Laughs and tears.
It’s to live
With every taste on your tongue
It’s to rust and grow old
With souls and mind so young.”

Wednesday
Moth wings fluttering against my cheekbones
you are warmth
you are light

I am standing at the edge of this ocean
watching the galaxy pool around me

I do not care if it is a halo or horns
you have hiding out beneath your hat

It does not matter to me if you have shoulder blades
where your wings should be

We can press our bones together for all of eternity
We can be an archeological discovery

Love buried in ash
You are forever all I will need

Atoms

Scientifically, we are made up of a combination of atoms that somehow resulted in spinning minds and thirsty hearts, soft skin and aching bones.

I heard somewhere that if the atoms of an object could spread far enough apart, we could pass through anything.

If we are merely atoms, I suppose I spread mine so far that you passed through me.

You came through me, you hit my bloodstream and God was it a rush.

My atoms reacted with yours and it felt like they started to merge into one.

I felt you become a part of my spinning mind, my thirsty heart, my soft skin and my aching bones.

I spread myself so far so that you could really see who I was and before I knew it you had passed through me.

My atoms are tinged with specks of yours and I can't get you out of what makes up who I am.

This is why I miss you with all that I have.
