grain fields shimmer
pale blue green
a silent sea

I know who you are
And I think you're wonderful
Soul became a song

Somewhere there are those
Who walk the stars
As we may walk the Earth
Our many worlds that shine like
Grains of sand
Upon their shore

All spiral round a deep abyss
A mimicry of nothingness
I wonder what may walk
Beyond that veil of nevermore

How sharper than a serpent's tooth
This optical illusion is
And deep beyond the veil
How brighter than a thousand stars

The deepest darkest mystery
The turning point
The sanctuary
Who walks the narrow way?
Is there a door beyond the door?

so close to the earth
it fills up our eyes
we forget
time to time
that we dance on the sky

sometimes we may feel
that the world is still
illusion
illuminates
wheels within wheels

we never can tell
we who never fell
what lies where the light hides
how deep is the well

o would that we could
see straight through the ground
dizzying
infinity
all the way down

every day I judge myself
too this, too that
not good enough

but I know
I am not impartial
I'm not qualified to judge

but if not me, then who?
since I'm the only one that I can't lie to
if I'm honest
that is just another layer of denial

and who gave me this idea
that I should be judged by people?
people judging people
people who invented good and evil

or is that older than us?
animals know who they love
I think they understand blame
I think they understand shame

we give it more than a name
we give it so much power
sometimes we give it everything
and we are given
in exchange

someone to name
someone to blame
someone to hurt
someone to shame

an echo chamber full of hate
a broken mirror in a frame

I guess I am afraid
that if I treat myself
with more respect
the mob will turn on me
with one voice

"HOW DARE YOU FORGIVE YOURSELF?"

as if they care about me
right?
they must have bigger fish to fry
some people set the world on fire
some people commit genocide

so what would really happen
if one day I just stopped judging me
telling me I'm too this, too that, not good enough
and let me be

and build a real alliance with myself
built on trust
built on love

don't need to be
better than me

good enough is good enough

for you I would do anything
anywhere

the others can think what they want
I don't care

if I wrote this for them they would
like it more

but I don't want a dozen hearts
I want yours

Will our descendants live on Earth
Or will they live in domes on Mars
Or by Europa's icy surf
Or in the dark beyond the stars

We act as if we have no say
We talk as if we have no voice
But we who live on Earth today
We are the ones who make this choice

Fills the empty places
In your soul
Takes the mirror
That you broke
And turns it into a
Kaleidoscope

so much of my ambition and success
is what you motivated me to do
one day I hope I will find someone else
who motivates me just as much as you

the marks you left on my heart
slowly fade away
a choke chain
broken apart
day by day by day

When I look at my species
Who we are, what we have done
I wonder if I love humans
Just because I am one

If there is someone out there
Who has learned not to destroy
Then ours is a mentality
They may try to avoid

We wonder why the sky is silent
Why we are alone
Are we the kind of people
Someone would call on the phone?

Maybe one day they'll come to us
Maybe they'll let us live
I hope that evolution brings
The wisdom to forgive

sing the song you
sing for no one

there is no forever
that was never the deal

that was just what we dreamed

as far as I can see

reflections of reflections
no answers
just echoes of questions

sometimes I look inside my mind
to see what insights I can find

behind the light
with my eyes closed

to see if I can see

who knows

O how warm
Is the Sun upon my face
Calm after the storm

but I can guess
what will come next

tomorrow will
be stranger still

and infinitely more complex

It really hurt my soul
To feel that I was not enough
To know that I was not enough
for you

But I guess no one was

I think that's punishment enough

I want to dance on the silver Moon
I want to look at the Earth
I want to fly far across the sky
And see what I can learn

I want to glide under miles of ice
In a quantum submarine
Diving and finding the kind of life
This world has never seen

Now what is that up on our left?
An ocean dragon with two heads
And on its shining scaly sides
A hundred eyes four meters wide

There's something moving on our right!
Sinuous shape black as the night
It seems to shimmer in and out
Shaped like a delta, shaped like doubt

A great shell rises from below
What lives within? Nobody knows
A Fibonacci spiral hides
Some mysterious beast inside

Deep in the darkness more silhouettes
Unearthly and obscure
So many more we have not seen yet
Of this we can be sure

We rise for the night back into the light
Of glittering golden rings
We dance on the ice of the silver Moon
And think about everything

The moons form a line all across the sky
And the Earth is in Scorpio
I admit I've never been that high
But one day I would like to go

I want to dance on the silver Moon
I want to look at the Earth
I want to fly through a bright black sky
Too beautiful for words

I have walked the wide world
Searching for sanctuary
And at last I found it
Within myself

no boundary
outside the mind

I am the void
there is no
"I"

no horizon
undefined
there is no line

I am the sky

I believe that one day

I will be where God is

and think God's thoughts

God is everywhere

God doesn't have any thoughts

sometimes when I am under stress
it's not enough to do my best

and I distract myself from that
act like I can take back that fact

in fact I undermine my efforts
just to make myself feel better

always around people
because I can't feel when we're together

I'm out late
I'm with my friends

I'm tired of them
but I pretend

it's better than what's in my head
I burn the candle at both ends

I burn myself with limerence
and my mindlessness shines in a
bright line of afterimages

dead echoes of this emptiness

One day
The Sun will fill the sky
With its blazing
Diamond heart

the mind is a kaleidoscope
that makes the whole world bright
so full of shapes and colors
like a wonderland of light

the patterns are so beautiful
symmetrical and strange
when I turn the kaleidoscope
I see the patterns change

I watch existence tessellate
and open like a flower
perception means so much to me
I give it so much power

but when the mirrors melt
and let my mind into the night
I hope that
for one moment
I will truly see the light

Sometimes it isn't about
Whether other people like my poems
Or understand them

Sometimes it's just about
Being able to
Express myself

In a way that I can understand

I fantasize about you
so often
that when I am with you
it feels like a dream

We create monsters
Because the one we fear
Has no face

we cannot separate being from seeming
we could be seeing things
we could be dreaming

what small percent of this can we perceive?
we cannot know
we can only believe

the truth is everywhere
dark as the night
our minds overflow
with visions of light

how much do we see?
how much do we make?
how sure can you be
that you are awake?

The wheel turns
Around me
I am still
Tranquil
In the
Eye

I am in a dark place
Show me the light
And lead me home

My journey is not over
But I have reached the top of the mountain
Where I may sleep one night

From time to time
From day to day
I see the world
In different ways

How different then
Must it be
From the perspective
That you see

How does the world look
Through your eyes?
I wish that I
Could read your mind

But it is hidden
In your head

I'll show my mind
To you instead

I truly believe that everyone
Is pretty much the same
We all share ninety-nine point nine
Percent of our DNA

We love to look through those old books
And say how much we've changed
But take away the new veneer
Reveal an ancient face

We all say those people are bad
And these people are good
We all think
I am too strange to be ever understood

Oh how we cling to anything
Which sets ourselves apart
As if that naught point one percent
Is who we really are

If we had no identity
Beyond humanity
I wonder who we would become
If we were really 'we'

Maybe one day we'll join as one
We'll all stop keeping score
On that day I'm not sure if we'll be
Human anymore

Every time I think
That I've run out of things to say
I see something that makes me
View life a whole new way

Then my mind is full of words
I want to tell you all
About this new idea
Which has so lit up my soul

Serendipity
Sail across a silent sea
Starry and serene

There are some people
Who really seem evil
But I still love them
Because they are still people

If you try to fill your heart
With hearts
It will never be full

If there is only so much stuff
Then there can never be enough
And this is why we're all so rough
You can't survive if you're not tough

We scratch and scrape and strike and steal
Do anything for our next meal
We don't care if we **** each other
Fighting brother versus brother

There is only so much here
Crushed beneath our greed and fear
Humanity becomes garbled
War ants swarming on a marble

When we have trampled all our grace
There is always more in space
Mountains and oceans and dunes
Diamonds as big as the Moon

Wonders and riches untold
Moons of silver, stars of gold
All the elements on Earth
Strewn throughout the Universe

There's so much space, there's so much stuff
The journey will be very rough
But if we're clever, if we're tough
One day we might just have enough

The full Moon
Is a mirror in which the
Earth can see her soul

Not long ago did someone see
A golden serpent in a tree
A raven took the snake away
But evermore its shadow stays
