I see the world
Is it your world too?
Do I see our world
The same as you?

Do you see it
Drawn in nations
Or with no lines
Of demarcation?

How does our world
Look to you?
What is green?
What is blue?

Who are we
To decide?
Who are we
To take a side?

We are we,
I am me,
You are you,
That's all true

And if I listen
Close to you
I'll see the world
The way you do

I saw you
Looking at me
One night
Right through
My naked soul
Maybe you see me
Maybe you don't
I am looking at you
Do you know what you saw?

One time there was a little snake

Who said, why are the mice afraid?

The other snakes said I don't know,

For I have never killed a mouse!

And so the snake said,

I know! I will go and meet them at their house

The mice came to their windows

And they saw the tiny little snake.

It's one of THEM! They shouted.

They thought she was there to **** them all.

For you see, the larger snakes,

For thousands and thousands of years

Had killed millions and millions of mice

Which was the reason for their fear.

The little snake knew none of this.

She never had eaten a mouse

She only ate spiders and bugs

She slithered right up to the house

The mice came out by the dozens

And bit and scratched the little snake

She had just come to say hello

She thought there must be some mistake

They cut her into little pieces

And there came from them a cheer:

Hip hip hooray! We've killed the snake!

Now we won't have to live in fear.

You see, the mice had no idea

Just how many snakes there were

They thought they'd killed the only one

They thought that they had won the war

And so the little mice came out

And danced upon the little grave

Not knowing that the smell of blood

Had drawn a hissing knot of snakes

These larger snakes ate all the mice

And spilled their blood upon the land

The little snake could see no more

But if she could, she'd understand.

I wish that we could all have peace

And learn to respect one another

But though I think the war is dumb

I get why people hate each other

One side says "They attacked me first!"

The other says "They are the worst!"

The other then attacks them back

One side says "I have been attacked!"

Both sides say "They're attacking me!"

I simply cannot disagree

I simply cannot take a side

I wish there were a place to hide

From all this ******* violence

But if we didn't have this war

We would find someone else to fight

It's just the way we ******* are

I look up at the sky and I see stars
They look almost as dizzy as I feel
For thousands of years they showed us the way
The sky has changed, the world has turned the wheel
Into an open circle slowly walks
The one who brings the number to thirteen
A bridge over a river in the sky
The starry serpent and who stands between
But it was much easier to divide
In halves and thirds and fourths, by six and three
When there were twelve instead of a number
Whose only factors are one and thirteen
I wonder how much this will change our world
And in how many small and subtle ways
We will learn something of our unity
And of our individuality

I wish

We all felt love

No hate

We all felt joy

No sorrow

We all felt hope

No despair

How can I make this so?

I can begin with my own mind

Plant one seed of peace

Let it bloom into a tender vine

And wrap its tender green arms around the whole world

Until the whole world is encircled

Within the web of my peace

O if only

For a moment

Let it be

It's hard to empathize with someone who does not empathize with you... but it's important.
