The old man hunched over, slow to move,
Decided that this day, a honest day's labor,
Was just the ticket in order to have a day,
Productive and so lasting as the day was long.

He stretched and felt every muscle and bone,
Cry out to him in momentary pain and hurt,
But struggled, still, to dress himself alone,
In order to have a breakfast of eggs and toast.

The dinted coffee *** rattled on the stove,
The blinds were open to let in the light,
He put his breakfast on his plate of tin,
And commenced to eat in solitary fashion.

"Today's the day we build the wall,"
"You know, the one to keep the neighbor out,"
Because the neighbor was a persistant pest,
With constant hellos and meddling talk.

The old man bathed himself in silence,
Preferred to keep his thoughts secretly hidden,
Did not care for the company of idle fools,
Who didn't know what honest labor could do.

So, off to the work shed for his tools to begin,
The wall between the neighbor and him,
Walked to the place where walls are built,
Between the pastures of a neighboring farm.

The cold air felt like needles on his face,
The snow crunched repeatedly beneath his boots,
Wind hurtling gushs of shivering air,
With numbness in his toes he forged along.

Perhaps, a wall is something that builds itself,
Or maybe takes a long, long time to construct,
But determined in his quest for total privacy,
He must have felt a mission was his daily call.

"I'll build this wall, come hell and highwater,"
Despite the time of year being such a challenge,
Yet, when he knelt to gather his thoughts to begin,
He told himself tomorrow would be just as good.

Then, back he tredged to the house he had,
Where the fireplace roared and comfort awaited,
So, he could sip his tea and eat his evening meal,
While planning for tomorrow's daily labor.
Please hold my hand,
Gently walk me to the creek,
Dip my head underwater,
For salvation I seek.

Sing the spirituals loudly,
Tell my soul to take flight,
For away washed my sins,
I'm with the Saviour tonight.

Cleanse my evil that's lurking,
Some still left in my heart,
Wash away all the hatred,
Begin my new start.

Let me know I'm no loner,
A man lost on his path,
Give reasons for living,
With my spiritual bath.

Know that I am another,
Who was lost and is now found,
Let my soul soar the heavens,
With my feet on the ground.

Take my hand and slowly cover,
The hillside from the creek,
As we walk ever upward,
Salvation I seek.
Hot tea and cookies,
Some milk in the mix,
Remembering boyhood,
And picking up sticks.

Leaping and hopping,
Singing some songs,
Playing was magic,
All the day long.

Watching the clouds,
Floating on and on by,
Imagining monsters,
That live in the sky.

Riding our bikes,
Falling down hills,
Scrapping and bruises,
The death-defying spills.

Candy and cake,
Sweets never going away,
Living like gods,
On this wonderful day.

Youth and more youth,
Our blood boiling hot,
Living each moment,
When memories were not.

Laughing like mad men,
Being caught on the wind,
Not knowing the difference,
And life never ends.
Peace on a stick,
I think will do,
How about a taste,
Of peace for you?

Seen men **** men,
Beginning of time,
While some want love,
And nursery rhymes.

Watch society grow,
With technology true,
But humans shrink,
What can we do?

Watch disease ravish,
A nation of bright eyes,
With pollution rapant,
The hordes soon die.

Knew hope when young,
Sought love on the wind,
Lived life like a circus,
With salvation God send.

So, peace on a stick,
How about for you?
When peace finally comes,
What will we all do?
Peace on a stick,
I think will do,
How about a taste,
Of peace for you?

Seen men **** men,
Beginning of time,
While some want love,
And nursery rhymes.

Watch society grow,
With technology true,
But humans shrink,
What can we do?

Watch disease ravish,
A nation of bright eyes,
With pollution rapant,
The hordes soon die.

Knew hope when young,
Sought love on the wind,
Lived life like a circus,
With salvation God send.

So, peace on a stick,
How about for you?
When peace finally comes,
What will we all do?
Who am nothing,
A speck in the universe,
Wandering aimlessly,
Being noticed by none,
Not successful in life,
A brief, but brilliant interlude.

Sat myself down,
A silly, forgotten clown,
This time being all undone,
My tears begin to fall,
A body worn and torn by time,
Hauntingly unneeded,
I start to cry.

Who's there who wants me?
When will my life have meaning?
Lurching forward, a contorted blob,
Of a man so hoping for some glory,
But having no path put before me,
No master plan, or devious adventure,
I fall to earth in a pile of so.
If best to say farewell this time,
We must resolve to clear our minds,
For deep within my heart for you,
There's nothing that I wouldn't do.

To hold your  hand and kiss your face,
While holding you I feel at place,
To smell your body, so lovely to me,
With us I thought I now could see.

It's true with passion people are one,
To bask in glory in morning sun,
But stark reality sometimes it's true,
Sends people apart, what can we do?

So, now with love, I send you free,
To search the world for one not me,
But tears well up and flow like rain,
To see you go, while still I  remain.
