I don't know when
I started to feel more
Than just wanting to be felt
But I knew it was something special
On friday night
When we were in the car
And you reached out
To hold my hand
I'm feeling something
Different now
Something I've never
Felt before
And it's confusing
But I don't mind
Because I'm happier now
Than I have been
In a long time
Seashells and castles,
Imagination, holy as the skies,
Sea sprayed our faces.

We are the generation
With our sorrow etched into our skin
And swallowed down with the morning coffee
Fingers crossed that tomorrow will be better.

We are the generation
With our lives plastered on screens
And written in the history of our web
Desperate for affirmation.

My days ago
are piled
with excess.

My days ahead,
clouded
with letting
go.

This day today,
empty
as the bottle
laying next
to me.

And there's
no way
to grow
young
again.
the women of the past keep
phoning.
there was another yesterday
arrived from out of
state.
she wanted to see
me.
I told her
"no."

I don't want to see
them,
I won't see them.
it would be
awkward
gruesome and
useless.

I know some people who can
watch the same movie
more than
once.

not me.
once I know the
plot
once I know the
ending
whether it's happy or
unhappy or
just plain
dumb,
then

for me
that movie is
finished
forever
and that's why
I refuse
to let
any of my
old movies play
over and over again
for
years.

I'm stuck
In the toughest moments
From few and far between.

Searching for something
      Searching for anything.
