I have this innate need
To be with the sun
While it paints the world gold
My feet melt into the grass
For a few fleeting minutes
The clouds are mixed with bubblegum, cotton candy
And drip with nectar
I let it soak into my skin and turn my eyes to copper
I wait there until
Goosebumps start to raise on my arms
Shadows from the trees stretch
Until they reach me
And with the faintest stars, I can see
It’s time for me to go home
