The mirror was tarnished,
It gave her a sepia glow

The reflection varnished,
Memories garnished by sorrow

And with a silver brush
She smoothed away the greying years

Finely powdered gold dust
To cover trace of wear and tears

The mirror was tarnished,
And now brightly shines her beauty.
This was a collaboration between me and r (another groovy poet on here!). Here is his profile please check it out! http://hellopoetry.com/r-2/
If you want a lover
I'll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you
If you want a partner
Take my hand
Or if you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man
If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
I'll examine every inch of you
If you want a driver
Climb inside
Or if you want to take me for a ride
You know you can
I'm your man
Ah, the moon's too bright
The chain's too tight
The beast won't go to sleep
I've been running through these promises to you
That I made and I could not keep
Ah but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I'd crawl to you baby
And I'd fall at your feet
And I'd howl at your beauty
Like a dog in heat
And I'd claw at your heart
And I'd tear at your sheet
I'd say please, please
I'm your man
And if you've got to sleep
A moment on the road
I will steer for you
And if you want to work the street alone
I'll disappear for you
If you want a father for your child
Or only want to walk with me a while
Across the sand
I'm your man
If you want a lover
I'll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you
You should worry
when someone with ocd
tells you the pictures on the wall are crooked
and they don't care enough to fix it
I can't even count
the number of times
I have been told
"You're too nice"
"You're so sweet"

In the last 24 hours
I've even gotten the
"You're my favorite person"
and
"I admire you"

Now don't get me wrong
I'm not really complaining
But when you say
"You're too nice"
Six. Times. In. A. Row.
That's where I draw the line

F is is for friends and friendly
the road is long
but the sky is calling
take my hand
and we'll go exploring
until the day we die
I will be like a tree to you
neath whose shade you lie
as the days pull you down
and my branches long for
the pull of your weight-
the only kind I will allow
to pull me down.

Painless is the way
I shed my leaves for you,
die a slow death
all for your love for a golden autumn,
and again I come back to life for you,
because winter is a lonely business.

Your faith in my hold
is strengthened over these glad years,
unbreakable perhaps,
like how my roots are interwoven
into your ribs.

My poetry is eternal for you,
growing each day
and when you cut me open,
the rings will tell you of the years
I bled for you.

I will be a tree to you,
your very own Eden,
and the day I die,
I hope my roots reach out to you
when the time comes for you to
marry into the earth.

Only a vehement storm
can put me down.
I hate myself right now.
Her name sounds a lot like my prayers.
I know she can’t hear them,
But God pays attention to the things that make us happy.

When she looks into the sky to marvel at stars,
She has no idea that every star is staring back at her.
They shine brightly because she brings out the best in us.

Her smile has never solved any problems.
It makes every problem an opportunity.
Like how love can finally set you free.

If we were together, time would stop.
Father Time would fumble his watch faster than he dropped his jaw.
If we were together, the world would break.
Mother Nature would be explosively jealous of her beauty.

My heart was accustomed to living in pieces.
I don’t bother with doctors because they can’t cure soul-mate separation.
When she came along she didn’t try to change me.
Piece by piece, she put me back together.

She told me she feels empty when we aren’t talking.
As if my words are raindrops that make a difference in the ocean of her soul.
I commit all of her words to memory.
As if I could nail myself to every T, and be closer to making a memorable sacrifice.

If I spent my entire life try to deserve her,
I might save enough to glance at her smile.

In case I die tonight, I want you to be my last thought.
My last word deserves to be your name, whispered on
My last breath, only audible for God to hear.
Death might be waiting patiently for me.
There is nothing else I can imagine dying for
reddened face
swollen eyes
they always lead to
a better rhyme

shaking hands
trembling lips
now feeling high
and confused a bit

tripping around
falling up stairs
now you are lost
fearless, my dear

Glass bottle memories
Litter my mind
Some green, blue, one is even purple.
But most of them are clear.
Transparent and fragile
And most are broken,
Shards of them intermingled with the others
Indistinguishable from the next.
The worst are unfortunately protected the most
And visited most frequently.
They all have lids to keep them contained
But they do no good because
Everyone knows glass bottles are transparent.

Shackles promise freedom
But the laughs of clattering chains
Are pulled back by inner demons
I allow them to remain

Links from past to present
I’m unable to let go
I try so hard to forget
But it’s out of my control

So I cry to know I’m living
And I scream to know I’m here
The pieces are not fitting.

Do you hear me?
I cannot help but wonder
If freedom is near

The world crumbles around me
But I’m chained to the wall
Too attached to what could be
My demons hate me all and all

Suffocating in my past
I’m trying to break free
The world is stable in contrast
To what’s inside of me

So I cry to know I’m living
And I scream to know I’m here
The pieces are not fitting

Do you hear me?
I cannot help but hope
That my freedom is near

We cry to know we’re living
And we scream to know we’re here
The pieces are now fitting

Do you hear me?
**We cannot help but know
That freedom is here.
