I first fell in love on a ferris wheel
in the brisk cool breeze,
A cinematic night that felt so surreal
a lover's flying trapeze.
And when we fell, we fell forever
entwined with each other,
Onto the sandy beach whispering
"You'll always be my lover."
I felt your touch before I saw you
embracing all of me,
And now I found what I always knew
a place where I can breathe.
With the years that have passed us by
I know that I still feel,
The same I did that night with you
found love on a ferris wheel.

I AM

I am a poet
I am a writer
I am a teacher
I am healthy
I am beautiful
I am creative
I am a mother
I am a wife
I am enough
Everyday faithfully I write down who I am and who I want to be.
Is it to remind me? Or the universe?
I leave out parts of me
Clumsy
Overwhelmed
Unsure
Scared
And I don’t write
Confident
Graceful
Elegant
Charismatic
Sometimes I write
Fearless
Strong
Funny
Words I use to paint a picture of what I want my life to be
The Law of Attraction or
The Law of Self delusion?
She was not born to be a bride,
She had no child of her own.
When she faced evil face to face,
some will say she died alone.
But to the children whom she helped hide
when terror roamed those halls.
She didn't die for nothing
She died to save them all.

Some learn their purpose early,
Others at the final turn.
Many blunder blind through life.
There are those who never learn.

Someday past suffering and grief
may her family feel some pride.
She was Victoria Soto,
Not for nothing did she die.
Written in honor of Victoria Soto a teacher at the school in connecticut who died saving the students in her first grade class.

Shy
Coarse and rough,pure and true

You are my angel of a nascent hue

Far away the rain clouds lay

Begging to meet my angel each day!

You are shy,veiled in a shroud,you are

Cozy, warm and safe with your lover, the Star

You say,you forgot me,so soon,I hear?

Is it because behind your back I disappeared?

I thought without me,you'd be in gloom

Remember,how,in your soundless cacophony,I swooned?

You ignited my heart, gave life to me

In your sandy storms, you entwined me,to set me free

I roamed,in love with you,in old directions,anew

Now,the storms are raging, the knights banter and look for you

Stay back,my angel, shy, behind the rocks where you grew

Let the thunder clouds darken around you

Protect your lovers, like and me and some others, few

Illusive and Elusive, you play games with me

Cajoling my feelings, and bringing me down to my knees

****** and lascivious,you don't disappoint

My savior,my sins and sorrows, you anoint

Winds of insanity rove around you,my eyes they enter

I cry,it's sand,worthless to all but me,soft and tender

I can't go on quenched of thirst and thought

I fall broken,crushed,will I be besought?

Care for the others,with you,I left,please

My guardian,my desert, hide forever with me in the shadow of bliss.

With
passion pray. With
passion work. With passion make love.

With passion eat and drink and dance and play.

Why look like a dead fish
in this ocean
of
God?
Letting

26 angels have arrived for orientation
Taken from the world without hesitation
Heaven is a little more crowded:
There’s a place already prepared
At least tonight those who’ve passed,
Will rest in God’s care

Buried under heartbreak, Newtown still stands
Worlds changed, for this kid and the next
“Kids, 2 +2 is…” BANG -
Children were unable to protect,
Themselves or their friends

Gunshots filled the air
Instead of love that should be there

Flags at half-staff, leave us half-hearted
Soo many, like too many,
Will spend their Christmas
With families torn apart
And no New Years resolution
Can make up for the inhuman execution

May we ever look to love unconditionally.
My greatest empathies go to those in Newtown, CT. Lives have been irreversibly altered, and in the words of President Obama, "our hearts are broken."
You are the one who can play the piano keys of my heart.
You can pluck the strings of my dreams. An orchestra of romance and tranquility and a concerto of gentleness and fire.
Memories and ghosts haunt us all and keep us afraid.
They tighten us and whisper in our ears that we are failures and that we deserve to be in pain.

I can be the exception.

I can be the voice in your ear.
What they said does not matter.

Ghosts cannot survive in the sunlight, and I want to bathe you in it.
I want to make you feel as beautiful as you are.
As long as you are smiling, the earth will spin a little happier and the stars will burn a little brighter.
As long as you keep the fire in your heart, hope for a reality better than this remains.
Close your eyes.
Let go of your fear.
Listen to me when I tell you that you are why the sun is so eager to poke his head over the horizon.
I will whisper in your ear and I will hold you.
I will be the exception.
Be brave my love.

Stay you.

Her daddy once told her that just trying her best was enough,
She shook her head and said, "Everything is just so tough."

Her momma once told her she could be anything she dreamed.
She rolled her eyes and said, "That world is make-believe."

Her best friend once told her she was the greatest companion she had.
She scoffed and said, "If that's true, it's pretty bad."

A boy once told her she was the prettiest girl he ever saw.
She smiled and blushed, but said, "That's not true at all."

She didn't see it - all her potential.
All she saw were eyes that were fearful.
She didn't see it - all the love they had for her.
All she saw was a mental sickness with no cure.
She didn't see it - all the life she still had to live.
So across her wrist, that shiny blade slid.

Red, sticky red,
It laced through her fingers,
staining her t-shirt,
but not releasing her demons.

Red, sticky red,
It let her down,
dripping onto the tile,
but no release was found.

After realizing the mistake she just made,
she bandaged up her wrist and got on with the day.
Her daddy and momma, they asked no questions,
oblivious of their sweet little girl's deadly intentions.
