..All the kings horses and all the kings men
couldn't put Britain
together again.
21st century nursery rhymes
Did you wake up thinking of me
did you wake up wondering what it is I can see
or did you sleep anyway
did you want to hold onto the day 'til forever came knocking at the door
did you like what you saw
was it worth waiting for
did you wake up thinking of me?

When I sleep, I see you in my dream
and if it seems like I'm dreaming the meaning is clear
I need to get near to you
tomorrow that's what I'll do
did you wake up thinking of me?

When we're old will life tell us okay
you can have your dreams everyday
would it be just the same
is it more than a game
did you wake up thinking of me.

When the morning is tangled in night
and the evening is light from another day
That's when I listen real carefully
hoping you care for me
glad that you're there to see
did you wake up thinking of me?

You can find Old Blue Joe down on the corner every night
Playing his guitar like he's picking a fight
He'll play your request but it's the blues that run his life
In fact the blues is the only way that Old Blue Joe gets by

He's gotten used to it but he still don't like to lose
If he had a choice it's not a choice he would choose
He knows that he's one of the unfortunate few
That's been on and seen the other side of the blues

The other side of the blues...
Takes a bite out of life

The other side of the blues...
Darkens more the darkest night

The other side of the blues...
Doesn't care if you like

The other side of the blues

Old Blue Joe's on the corner he's always been on
Still playing the saddest of the saddest song
Through the blues, the youth he feels he should warn
Not to make the same mistakes the same way he has done

It's raining now as he plays but he'll never stop
The drive to keep on strumming is all that old Joe has got
Growing the bitter blues is this blue mans crop
Fertilizing it daily until this life is naught

The other side of the blues...
Doesn't care what is lost

The other side of the blues
Knows the price and pays the cost

The other side of the blues...
There is something that is wrong

With...

**The other side of the blues...

Shackled

I am bound by the shackles
of rationale and reason.
They wear at my ankles
and wrists.
I pick at the itching scabs.
I know you had the key once,
but you lost it
in a struggle against
your own heart.
Now, you’re sprinting towards me
at full speed,
lock pick in hand.
Face red, you fumble it
with your hands,
like a child’s.
You’re half-sobbing,
half-chuckling
and biting my ear.
The shackles come off.
Then, I lose myself in you
and never find my way out.
