I lost it.
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
I always found a way to lose something
I lost my papers
I lost my book
I lost a friends number
I lost my daily stuff to play around on.

At first they think your losing habit would change
But after a while they start to think you lie or not care
I lost my grades
I lost my job
I lost my respect
I lost my friends

But at times when your stress out or think it's the end
There's some stuff you can never really lose

Beach
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
from a very young age the days at beach have held special place in my heart
the hours of digging into sand and splashing in the waves
there was nothing you could do to cheer me up more
then say I could run and kick up the sand
that was when the waves were calm
that was before the storm churned
and everyone had to find shelter
or suffer the consequences
the cold storm uncaring of who or what it rains on only wanting to make others feel its pain
and it did for years my beach was under siege from the storm

and it still is, I just pray that
one day it will go away

"On summer nights the world,
Moves within earshot,
On the interstate with its swish,
And a growl, an occasional siren,
That sends chills through us,"

As we drive by finding a new dream,
Trying to size every opportunity,
To feel alive again,
Breathing heavily,
Foot leaning ******* the gas pedal,

Driving toward a new success,
Realizing its one we already have,
Still driving forward pushing it to the max speed,
We will all die someday,
Why not now,

So we dash full speed ahead,
Letting the alcohol numb our minds,
As it seeps through our blood,
No one will know until day,
It's already 11:59 day won't start until another minute so we best be going,

The Heavy Door
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
It will always be there
Blocking
Keeping us from the person
We want to be

To pass
We must find
Our strength
And open the door

If we cannot find strength
There it will stay
Solid and cold
Lifeless

But there is always hope
Behind the door
Potential we cannot see
Until we open the door

Albero Centrale Apr 2014
The sky may be blue,
With white clouds floating overhead,

The grass may be green,
With dewdrops that spread,

Flowers may be blooming,
With a lacey petals on the edge,

But all you can see is,

A dark gray sky,
With storm clouds overhead,

Hard, brown grass,
That's dried up and dead,

Flowers that are wilted,
Drooping with dread,

The day may seem perfect to me,
But to you its something else.

Swings
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
I sat on the swing,
Shifting my body weight,
Coasting higher by the seconds,
leaving all my thoughts behind,

Finally I am soaring high,
Wind hugging my body,
And the blue sky outlined with white clouds,
Creating an instant shock of insanity,

Making me feel like I'm about to be swallowed,
And I might never come back down to earth,
Because I'm finally happy,
Here on this swing alone.

True Friends
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
The past has fully risen
My mistakes now present
My heart tends to beat faster now
Always afraid for the future

I never thought of myself as I truly am
I’m somewhat unique, having my own personality
I’m pretty normal perhaps even average
But I never knew I was one of them

They are the ones everyone can hear at lunch even if they don’t want to
Always yelling and screaming
Many will sneak a judgmental glance and sneer
But I won’t they are my friends and I am one of them

I do admit we are a crazy clan
Kind of weird and awkward
But they are the few I can trust that will always forgive and forget
And that’s what true friends do

Even while you’re at your worst, they make you feel as if you’re at your best
They are always there to support and forgive
But there are times were you may fight
But if you are true friends they will always forgive

In my eyes life is full of mistakes
But your true friend will always be there to help
Some mistakes may be worse than others yet we shouldn’t be afraid of what may come
The future is still unknown
And that’s the way it should be

Albero Centrale Apr 2014
Time marches on
not caring about a thing
Hurting on the inside
But on the outside,
wearing a plastic smile
to not show the pain she goes through

Just trying to fit in and be "normal"
But the is no such thing
Normal is just a thing we made up

Rose Petal
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
My eyes were just like the clouds that day
Dark
And full of rain
My tears streamed down my face and smashed onto the concrete floor...
Just like the rain
I cried in anger
I watched the beautiful little Rose die
Drained,
She lay there
As each of her petals fell off...one by one
I sat in the bed next to her,
Begging for an answer,
Flowers aren't ment to die, they're ment to be beautiful.

The Forest Queen
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
She got lost here once

Ran off into the forest without thinking twice

It was February third

She left, and went onward; forth.

She became one with the woods

She got used to the cold winters

She was like Robin Hood

Who had been withered.

She lived without living

And died without dying

The forest, she then learned, was unforgiving.

Before she knew it she was crying.

She got lost here once

Ran into the forest without thinking twice

It was April third

When her soul went onward; forth.

Insanity
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
Alone,

But not really alone.

Insanity,

breathes down her neck.

Insanity,

“I will win! I always do!”

Crying,

“No you won’t you can’t win!”

Chuckles,

“I always win. I’m winning right now you see.”

Denial,

Insanity can’t win!

Brave,

“Everyone has to win and it is your turn!”

Insanity,

“I’ve already won. Look around and tell me where you are.”

Looking,

She didn’t know where she was.

She had lost after all.

Scared and Alone
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
The cold darkness
Wrapped around her
like an unwanted
Blanket.

She sits quietly
On the vast, empty hill
Waiting for something
To happen.

The terror slowly
Takes over her mind
She forgets everything
She fought for.

All the hard
Work to be
Free and safe
Is gone

Not to be
Afraid and helpless
But now she quietly sits
On the hill
Scared and alone.

The Old Days

Wish I could go back to those days
Where nothing mattered
I was who I am
My innocence wasn't tattered

I didn't care about how I looked
What I wore
Who I was
I never swore

My mom could cradle me in her arms
Comfort me and tell me it's okay
It was all so simple
But hey, that was back in the day

Misunderstood
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
I realize that I treated you wrong,
You thought about all your possibilities,
And apparently I pushed you out.
If I had one more chance,
I would’ve done it right.

Rain drips down this window,
Like tears down my cheeks,
But I know even if I let you go,
The scars will continue to show.

Your love left me broken and defeated,
Unable to stand,
I still love you,
Even though you changed along the way.
Why is it I love you,
When all you do,
Is hate everything you’ve become.

My world continues to crumble,
At the sound of your voice,
Just know when I say,
It’s not my choice.

We walk as strangers,
In our now separate lives,
I’ll keep fighting,
But I’ll never win.

I’m so far away from you,
But I’ll live for right now,
With no difference between right,
And wrong.
Just know,
If I had one more chance...

...I would've done it right

She was a girl
no one ever chose
for teams or clubs
dances or dates

Upon a rock solid bench she weeps
hair cascading down her back
covering her face
and hiding her pain

A very adventurous girl she was
full of hope and joy
but her true feelings not shown
covered by the smile plastered on her face

She played the drums
to the beat of her heart
from the harp she would lean upon
each song, each string, each note, simply tore her apart

She was a girl
no one ever chose
for teams or clubs
dances or dates.

“If I say I wouldn't be hostile,
could you say you would do the same?
If we're all made just a little bit broken,
tell me who is to blame?”

We’ve all got battle scars,
wounds from fights we’ve already lost.
You made me promise not to get this bad,
but I can’t seem to control myself around you anymore.

The voices are building up,
I promised,
and I’m still not taking back my word,
but you’ve turned your back.
And you left me in the dark.

I thought I loved you,
but I realized this whole time I was wrong.
I break at the mere mention of your name,
driving my entire life downhill.

I’m always going to be,
a broken imperfect mess.
I tried to change for you,
but there’s nothing else to change.

I’m a damaged marionette,
lying in your disapproving hands.
But this won’t be my defeat.
With my bones exposed,
I stand up and fight.

Fighting for my life back,
for all I want to be.
I might have lost the battle,
but I’m going to win the war.

Lets see how much you need me.

I’m done playing your endless games,
find a different pawn,
I’m through.

“If I say I wouldn't be hostile,
could you say you would do the same?
If we're all made just a little bit broken,
tell me who is to blame?”

Black little figure,
The same shape as me,
Copying my every move,
Like we’re the same person.

When I’m lonely,
You’re my closest friend.

But you hold my deepest fears,
The thoughts from my younger years,
Fear of the dark,
Something I can’t escape.

Yet I console in you with my deepest secrets,
Something they could never understand,
The people in the real world.

My Shadow,
Tied to me with strings,
Unbreakable bonds,
I just wish,
I could cut you loose.

Writing this poem
It reminds me of home
Quiet time, I think is cool.

The times of old are coming back
Those times were fun
I just might write a poem on that
Some were fun and but now they're done

So here, now writing this next line
My peers will watch, they'll watch me write
For soon in time
I'll say goodnight.

Backs Turned
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
We are irresponsible,
we hide the damage we cause in the back of our minds and the bottom of our consciences,
the world around us crumbles under the weight of our neglect,
its wonders deteriorate,
its creatures die every minute,
who are we.
Entitled, self interested, narrow minded.
Our sins will bear repercussions.
The fear of imminent death and destruction,
herds us to flee further into ignorance.
we had a choice and chose the easy way out,
to let greed rule.

Is it winning the lottery,
Is it being in love,
Or is it being loved,

But it has many answers,
Add your answers if its a humble one,
The question is what is,

Man's Best Friend
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
He is what I like to call "interesting"
His head is too big for his body
His breath smells like peanut butter and
He is always tired
But he is all mine

Many would call him "cute" or "adorable" but
They don't know him like I do
He is Tonto- 95 pounds of pure love
He will always stick by your side but
There are times when he will hide

He can make me mad when he chews my shoes but
He can cheer me when I'm sad
Even when I'm down he can turn my frown upside down
He is a true joy to be around and
That's what best friends are

I can always tell when he's in the wrong because
His head sinks like a fish in the pond
Then his eyes slowly rise as if he is surprised
The big browns just give me a look
That say "I'm sorry and I know I've been naughty"

No matter what I always forgive
I owe it to him and he owes it to me
He knows were a true match meant to be
So our friendship will forever last
My baby Tonto and me

- From C.G. Hanzlicek's poem "What I want is"
Albero Centrale Apr 2014
Books are like people,
Bent,
Broken,
and folded in places,

They're judged by their covers,
What they look like,
How they act,
Their name,

So the older, uglier ones get thrown away,
Just because they are not perfect anymore?
And the shiny, newer ones replace them,
Just because they look better and never have been torn?

But there's a special place beneath all this misery,
Somewhere hidden deep beneath the covers,
Where a true story develops,

They may look boring from the outside,
But when you really get to know them,
Read their pages,
Learn their story,

You'll find the truth,
And the truth is beautiful.

Not knowing how to react
Time frozen

Then the tears fall

The emptiness now in her soul
No room for happiness
Now feeling all alone

The feeling of shock
through out her body
Her daughter too
Sitting there at the police station
Knowing that her husband is now gone.

Silently watching over the sleeping village
he works
inspired by the dreaming villagers
he is motivated
to tinker
to invent
all he wants is the joy
and wonderment from them
he got what he wanted
he lives of it

But that's not enough
hunger building inside
he needs real food
meat

When the hunger is unbearable
he lurks through the shadows
he takes the villagers
one by one
eating them
then moving on
to repeat the process
for an eternity
