Black little figure,
The same shape as me,
Copying my every move,
Like we’re the same person.

When I’m lonely,
You’re my closest friend.

But you hold my deepest fears,
The thoughts from my younger years,
Fear of the dark,
Something I can’t escape.

Yet I console in you with my deepest secrets,
Something they could never understand,
The people in the real world.

My Shadow,
Tied to me with strings,
Unbreakable bonds,
I just wish,
I could cut you loose.
