Age Is Just A Number
Einez Apr 2021
Youth, age
Time and space
Numbers made up by humans like ourselves
It’s manmade, but not
We’re told they’re not flawed
But how can we ever be sure
Why do people use it as if it can measure
How deep our minds are
How strong our hearts are
How much we’ve been through
How rough my feet grew
How tough my skin turned
How much those scars burned
The capacity of my brain
The intensity of my pain
Why is 18 the password
21 the tall fence
Why is 30 the eclipse
Or 40 the edge
Why is 50 the pity
And 60 the sorrow
Why is 80 the age we
Start to question tomorrow
Why is 90 the age we
Thank the heavens for forgetting us
And why is 100 the age we
Start to wish it would take us
Why is the number of years
That my shell has been on earth
A measurement to the depth of my wisdom
Or the darkness of the abyss I am climbing out of

To Dance
Einez Mar 2021
Did you know I like to dance?
You do not, I’m sure.
For how can a person who can’t even walk
dream of something bolder?

But I love how my muscles breathe
and how my soul flows
when I spread my arms and
let myself go.

I like to let my arms become the limbs of a willow,
let my legs become the wings of a bird,
let my body become the stream flowing towards a river,
let my soul be taken to the free sea

Life has placed me into a small glass
barred from the outside ocean that promises freedom.
I could only watch through the transparent veil
while my flesh bound me to the ground.

But one day I’ll fly, I know it
I feel it in my blood.
One day the glass will shatter
and I’ll dissolve into bubbles
unchained from pain.

Him
Einez Mar 2021
Him
Its gentle voice
Like a lullaby
Prompted him to advance into the abyss again
He couldn't help himself
Unconstrained tears of glass
Crisply spilled

It strokes his face
Holds his hand
Takes him to this desperate paradise
Children singing nursery rhymes
That melancholy melody
Echoes around him
He soon hummed along

Pregnant with doubts and sorrow
The devil that bred his heart
But they were also his angel
Blinded people waste their lives
Looking for something that can fill the void in their hearts
But that endless black hole
How can it be filled?
No amount of wealth or power
Can ever satisfy their loneliness
