Swindled
Neha Naeem Aug 19
5 days ago and we’d been sold crochet flowers in China town for “only” $30 instead of $36 and he leaves cards for me on my bed for me to have a memory to come back to. Brought back the stars I’d struggle to find some nights.

and did you know that the most common, repeated day Was hiding a moment that I’m so thankful for? Those eyes I saw everywhere but only when he smiles did it catch my attention only when the sun makes you squint do I wish you opened them further.
3 years later I’ve found the one this time

Exquisite Harmony
Neha Naeem Dec 2020
Lately, I can't shake the law of love off my brain.
I can't stop reminiscing about the fire that you set in the rain.
You work on us and never leave.
If I cast a fit, you come and tell me to start acting right. If I cry, you don't back away. Instead, you hold me.

You are that raw, intense love I need, and will never fade, even if I leave you.

You're that key in the piano I know about, I can still perform without you, but it's never the same.
You make each chord divine.
I've memorized all of your desires.
How you comb your hair in the morning, and what makes you tick, and with all of that, I produce the most exquisite harmony.
This is for Killian. Who somehow always manages to capture my feelings and transforms them into the most beautiful melodies.

Not poetry. Just a memory.

Green Grapes
Neha Naeem Nov 2020
“Here you go,” he handed me some more grapes. I popped each one into my mouth S he watched me.
“Thanks,” I replied.
“I wanted to ask you out.” I nodded, smirking.
“Right now?” He asked.
“Well there’s no point in asking though is there?” His cheeks flushed, and we were in the back freezer. He smiled, but we didn’t kiss. I rested my head on his shoulder, my whispers were so quiet that not even the angels that sat upon my shoulders heard me.
“I don’t do relationships in professional circumstances.” I told him about Ted, mg best friend.
“It’s okay, I’m here for you.”

“Thanks.”
Again it’s not really poetry. This is just some writing I needed to write. I saw it his scenario in my dream and wrote about it as quickly as I could before it would disappear from my brain.

Stargazer
Neha Naeem Nov 2020
You climbed the stairs of air, and your dream, and dream of what’s ahead.
The bridge beneath your feet is thin as a strand of hair, yet you don’t fall. Chasing me is dangerous don’t you see? Do not chase me stargazer, my stars are not glistening pools of astral.

They are memories compressed so tightly that when I embrace you , you will be thrown into another galaxy.  As quick as I throw you, you return faster. Counting my stars is ecstatic you say.
“Don’t conceal your beauty from me.”
Another random peice of writing I wrote at school. This one is written for the boy who sits beside me in social studies. The one who isn’t afraid of me.

Daydreamer
Neha Naeem Nov 2020
The distance you imagine is your utopia. It’s not a window, it’s two people dancing under the large tree behind the abandoned farmhouse, daydreamer, you can’t help but feel drawn to the window of dreams. It is Your escape the more you look the more you feel. The more you dream the more you can taste it, you press the repeat button to make-out the few moments of your dream, in advance when I rudely interrupt you, and you can’t go back to dreaming, that was it fantasizer, so savour your last few minutes of befuddling into space. see you soon, daydreamer, when you’re dreaming of me again.
I made this bit of writing in my art class at school. I saw a cute boy staring out the window behind me so it looked like he was looking at me but it was the window so it inspired me and I wrote this. It’s not really poetry it’s more poetic but I still want to share it
