We are more than
Passion or whatever

We are a stack of tourist info cards
A collaborative collection of poetry
Rolled up jazz club posters
Far off texts and calls at any hour
Pictures and
PICTURES
Photo albums public and (private)
Music made in parallel
A good book in the heart
Stimulating conversation to the mind
We are the choices made, over and over
We are the foundations and creations
Of love immortal and spiritual

Or maybe
That’s what I wish we were
And what I hope we could be

Hope is a devil
Costumed as a lamb

It draws you in preaching comfort
To change and embraces unknown

Then an old ‘empty’ suitcase is opened
one surprise yellow swim cap and memories

Nostalgia and reality stab you in the back
With daggers made of dreams

Hope smiles on
Watching you bleed for it
And its companions twist their knives

Hot, humid night
Broken air conditioning
Windows open to the
Sounds of southern summer nights
Humid skin, Humid sheets
Too uncomfortable to sleep

But now,
at least,
I can smell the trees
Labhrás Jul 25
Sunlight sparkling in tree canopy
Back stretched on the grass
Mind on a book newly opened
And heart on fire in our chest

Make these days last forever
Never a worry to be had
Flowers and leaves pressed together
A book of memory in our hand

Sip tea (or something stronger)
Relax with cheese and wine
Fill our soul and body’s hunger
Contented, in our mind

Run through fields of flowers
Find sacred space and sights
Behold the world around us
And never shut our eyes

Find our little nook
For love and life to bloom
Find our space and garden
Beneath the sun and moon

Be happy in our moment
Search out that single time
May life stretch out before us
And keep us in our prime

Slow down around the fast world
Let the pain pass us by
Come back to peace and comfort
For a time, ‘til we die

Wake
           Dress
    Move
               Drive

Feel the world fly on by

                                                          Searching
                                                    Thinking
                                                               Feeling
                                             Crying

Allow the road to break your mind

                              Forgive
                       Repent
                                       Pacify
                                 Contend

Find your way back home again

Keys
                Drop
                                  Rest
                                                    Sleep

             When your world is broken
Find the pieces, find your peace
   Stitch together your tired heart
And find your way to sleep

Dreaming reality
Is a hard pill to swallow
Days start to blur
And longer nights follow

Is life waking nightmare
Are dreams the true life

Wake up, into sleep
Slumber, into life

Comprehending the truth
When dreams are so real
It becomes a sore subject
For the dreamer to feel

What does one do
Where can one go

Wake up, into sleep
Slumber, into life

Walk in fantastic nightmare
Explore the horrible dream
Live life and don’t trust
All to be as it seems.

Is the world just a trick
Is the dreamer a lie

Wake up, into sleep
Slumber, into life
I’ve struggled with sleep
When things get rough my dreams and nightmares mimic reality. I wake and am confused where and who I am, what is going on in reality and what is real. The title is a description I gave to a friend as to what it feels coming between reality and dreaming when neither are preferred.

The trail has ended
The journey done
Tired and exhausted

Return to the start
Leave for another trail
Or begin again with renewed heart

Or stay at the top
Enjoy the view
Take the chance to stop

Before continuing along
A path our own
Through woods where we belong.
