Quarantine

It’s today but
It’s also tomorrow
And yesterday
In this museum
Of memories and
Memories of memories
Bits of old songs play
And quickly fade
Into moving shadows
Days are just bits of weeks
Just names of things
That have lost all meaning

Today
David Frank Apr 2020
I listen for my muse
But there are only tears.
We must not touch.
Embrace is forbidden.
If death will come
It  comes borne
On the breath we share.
The quiet voice
Bears our doom.
Only in silence
Is there hope.

Unplug your clocks
Don’t wind up your watch
There’s no need for haste
There’s nuthin but now.
So farewell dear John
Time’s run out of you.
We’ve run out of song
And can only remember
The gift of your music
When time was alive.
John Prine died this week

We all wanted was
For it to be over
We just wanted normal
But the lies grew
People died
It took the old
And then the young
It took all hope
And in the end
Left dreams undreamed
Left hope unspoken
Left life unsung
There’s just the silence
None none to remember
A touch, a hug
A voice
Or just anyone
To hear and to know

Art is the Dichotomy
David Frank Aug 2020
Art is the dichotomy,
The feast our souls share,
Our dear muse
Is also the mistress of isolation
When all  fears fade and
Pain at last is done
It’s just then I ask
To know one last touch
Of kindness, of love
Of not being alone
Wrapped in silence
Breathing only darkness.
