Esmé
his love was so harsh every touch left a bruise,
each kiss was an exchange of blood and broken promises,
he made my
mind
a
maze,
tangling all the wires of my brain until he was the only face left in it.

I convinced myself I could not live without the animalistic approval in his eyes when he looked at my body and I learnt not to flinch when the brutality in his voice knocked me down into disregarded sobs.

his love was so harsh every touch left a bruise, but now
I am anew.
