in my mind
we played by love
red roses
and sweet words to speak of
but

in your mind
we played by points
each new lie
another check on your score board
and

yes I know
that when I go
this game will turn into something
much more
still

no matter the blood
and guts that may spill
I'll take that
rather than losing  this to
you
Inspired by the Book Poem Challenge. The title is from the book Impulse by Ellen Hopkins.

[for Ellie's book poem challenge]*

In last,
the brat
pointed
to the slate,
to the grid
chalked there.

"And then
he found a way out
of the maze!",
he said,

and as he spoke
he erased a line
in that last square.

He smiled,
toothless,
to his best friend:

now
both of them
had it wrong
but that cage
of loneliness
was open wide
- at last!

When you were interested in me,
I didn't know how to react
Was I gonna allow you to deeply see?
Or just pass through the facts?

I didn't know it then,
but both choices had their consequences.

I chose what I thought was the best for me,
but was it really?
Check the tag bookpoemchallenge for more info. The book I picked was 'The Woman in White' by Wilkie Collins.

Hey everyone,

I'd like to propose a challenge.

Grab a book, any book, and open to page 49.
6th line.
5th word.
Make a poem, and use that word as its title.
Be sure to make sense, and relate the topic to title!

Tag your poems as bookpoemchallenge so I can check them out. I'll be sure to like, comment, add to collection, share the poems which I enjoyed reading.
Best of luck.
Please like and share this so it will trend and more and more people join on this lovely challenge!
