Broken street lights
Dim against the black of night
Cast shadows on the wall behind us
The red brick smolders from the heat between you and I
Clothes soaked from the summer rain
Laughing we lay down on the empty road
Where only the memories of cars drive by
Hands intertwined
We look to the stars above
And watch as the world goes by
The sound of two breathing as one fills our ears
My head on your chest
The beating of your heart echoes mine
Hanging onto the shadows of yesterday’s youth
Not yet ready to face the consequences
Let us once again feel alive
