Time is not the enemy
We are
Like pests we scour the Earth
Feeding off each others corpses
Stealing happiness
To benefit ourselves
And in the end time will win
As time always has
We will die
We will cease to exist
And not a thousand years from now
Each of us will have been forgotten
No lasting memory
No sense of self
No impression that still matters to us
And even the knowledge of our children
And our children's children
Brings me no comfort
Because they too will pass
Until there's no one left alive
No memory
No hope to survive
