We are taught,
to walk the fine line,
between what is wrong and right,
that there's only black and white.
A constant stream of
the list of consequences,
and the customs and traditions
our society follows,
holding on to a life line.

These laws, rules, and regulations
closing in around us,
tightening their grip,
the noose around our necks.
And even when you try to do right,
the once in a blue moon slip ups, and mess ups
magnified a thousand times
by those seeking, looking for a mistake, a break in the line of perfect mannequins.

Drip, Drop, Drip.
Rain knocks on the window.
I climb over the fence,
Careful not to disturb his sleep.

Drip, Drop, Drip.
Rain splashes on the tile floor.
I close the door behind me,
Careful not to disturb his sleep.

Drip, Drop, Drip.
Water slides off my coat.
I creep up the stairs,
Careful not to disturb his sleep.

Silence.
The rain has come to an end.
I whip out my knife,
Sending him into everlasting sleep.

Drip, Drop, Drip.
His blood stains the floor.
I wipe my knife clean
He shouldn't have ended our relationship.
Don't worry, everything here is made up, none of it is real.

A great hall
thousands of candles
each lit
their lights flickering erratically.

A great hall
thousands of candles
one by one
they go out.

A great hall
one candle is left
surrounded by darkness
drowning it.

Rumblings shaking the earth
Names cried out, long lost
Blame the gods, or us
Who forgot to pray?

Buildings collapsing
“Ubi est mater?”,
Children cry
Who forgot to pray?

Ash everywhere
Miles and miles of dust
This is it,
Goodbye Pompeii.
