April:
Eager lilac
dropping blossoms after a late frost.
Caught
in the misty morning
in the net
of her hair.

From its Heart
the ocean beats a steady throb,
resounding thru the murk and mirth,
crashing, clawing on the shore
of nameless fame,
of endless birth.
Blood of the Earth.
Sum of our worth.

From its Face
a fire shines a steady gaze
to make color of a flame.
This ray in my eyes,
held in water,
lifts it to heaven.

Though my Heart is less steady than the sea,
and my eyes unlike any star,
the blood in my veins holds the same potency
that slowly turns the stone to sand,
and the candle in my hand even flickering,
is bright enough to light
the pages of our lives
as they turn
and we write.

Wet
The "one-door-leading-to-another" philosophy.
Thru endless halls
will I ever see the sky?

I watch water
stain the walls
and know suddenly of rain.

I claw and kick
the mortar,
brick,
I break my fist
and bite
and spit
the blood and bits
of teeth.

I sigh, I sit,
Grow soft and watch
and the water with no bone,
no blood, no foot, no fist,
just motion, mist,
become the wall and crumble it.

The sky beyond the wall is black.
I cannot see.
Still, looking upward
I smile at the wet on my face
and die
just as lightning strikes.

I don't know how many trees were cleared
to build the foundation of my
childhood home.

The frogs sing of dreams we'll never see.
Empty inside to give the breath a dancing chance,
they look sideways,
no memory of what
they were before *** gripped the
reddest plasma part
of our connected being
screaming, seething in
water someday to be frozen
and given in
to the dream
unseen.

While we,
looking forward,
see only
meat.
