The thought consumes my mind
America would rather remain voiceless
Than fight for humans who have their rights stolen
It all roots from a fear, and ignorance
Of what people don’t know, understand
When the hate gets so strong, some would rather die
Than be who they are
A law is one thing, it can be changed
But it wont change us, we have to change us
There is no difference between my brother and his wife and my sister and her wife
Why does it matter to you, who I am
We are who we are, we are the same
The difference between you and me is you judge me because of what you don’t understand

Washed ashore
By the angry ebb
Of lost Atlantis,
The ocean brims
In liquid Jade
And grains of gold.

The sun won't sleep
Under the blanket
Of the vast horizon,
But dances with
The velvet moon
At heaven's feet.

Divine rays pierce
The prismic clouds
Bleeding spectrum,
Rain that seethed
At the apex
Of nature's bossom.

They gushed forth
Like raging horses
To a thirsty basin,
That slithered down
The silver rivers
And shallow streams.

Neon vines
Creep in the floor
Of the sleeping forest
Cradled by the songs
Of Mockingjays
And willow dryads.

The zephyr hums
A joyful song
In the laughing thickets
As flowers bloom
Like newborn stars
In the undergrowth.

In the mellow heart
Of the deep forest
A *****'s cry
Echoed woes
Of the hidden land
And its deadly curse.

You are balding on the back of your head. I sort of like that.
You drink more alcohol than you should.
Your eyes grow to twice their size when you are excited.
You have four dimples.
You smile with your entire face. I really like that.
You have a body sculpted by the directors employed in Hollywood.
Your scar under your chin helps remind me that you are perfectly imperfect.

You will forever be: my prominent “what if”, my greatest regret, and my favorite “almost”.

-- -- --

You have a smile that could light up a stadium.
You sing off pitch to my favorite songs. But I do also.
You chew the inside of your cheek when you are nervous.
Your dancing needs work. We could take classes together.
You lie a lot.
Your father is your best friend, and I would love to meet him.
You are going to make a difference in this world, but you don’t realize that yet.

However for now, I know you are the one. The one I cannot have.

I knew her even before the day I was born,
in my heart I know she's there.
But when I finally met her,
I cried and shout for joy
for she was the most beautiful and strong woman I ever met,
It was love at first sight.

Holding your hands for the first time feels like heaven.
I love the touch of your hair whenever I rest my head upon your shoulder.
And when it's time for me to rest,
your hands are my cradle and your scent is my lullaby.

I know at times I made you cry
for I was adamant and senseless but you never cared.
Instead,  you kept on loving me and that made me change.
Right then I loved you even more until my last breath.

There are times I want to let go,
then you set me free knowing I would go back to you and never will I ever go.
Your embrace is my comfort
and your sweet kiss is my surprise.

Grace, that is what you are to me.
Love, that is what you gave to me.
I may have love many but MAMA you are the first woman I ever loved.

I think there are some things
Of which a child should not be warned

Why place in them a mortal fear
That they need not yet learn

I remember the summer vacations
Spent at the ocean's side

Where I danced, splashed and dove
Never once thinking that it was cold

Now I return to the beach
And long for the good old fun

But I am held back
By the fear of believing it's too cold

I yearn to start over
To learn again in time

To live without fear
Of the small things that ruin me now

I want to run barefoot through the grass
But I can't let myself do so

I know too much
Of the dangers that may hide

These fears I have are often of situations
That probably won't happen

Yet I can't bring myself past
What I've been told that I now know

So don't ruin the kids
Let their wonder take control

Keep the world magical
Keep the fears at bay

Look there in the field--
a funeral march for the lost desires,
a waltz for the mourning.
Can you see them?
The bald, wasted wishes
dancing high above the heads
of the grass,
in the wind,
quivering with sadness.
