"tvam" poems
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be willing
to take mental risks
for a chance at greater understanding;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to delve into the Void,
come back with some new thing
and share that thing with the World;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be sensitive
to one's own Path
reminding others of theirs;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to not be afraid
to defy your Time, peers and Culture
to bring forth the Divinity inherent in everything;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is not not be deterred
by what you are told, but instead
to be guided by what you feel truest in yourself;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be able to interpret
and take things symbolically,
*Mythos and Logos*, synesthetically creating a new mutual Reality;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be willing and able
to be a Prism for the Divine;
to purify the Mirror of your being;
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be Artistic; Creative and Imaginative,
not that the Mystic must be an Artist, or that any Artist is a Mystic,
but that the Mystic is most naturally expressed through the various Artistic mediums;
To be an example for the masses
of just how the many are One
as One is truly the many
and thus All is Divine:
How the Universe itself
and all it's inhabitants
are the expressions
reflections and
manifestations
of the Godself;
An illusion,
A Dream:
**Godself
and self
is One.**
--
All is a Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
divided by Mind
into Self and Other,
but all is truly Godself:
Collective Unconscious and Personal Conscious,
Brahman and Ātman,
Godself and Self;
One in the same.
Tat tvam asi.
All it takes
to be a Mystic
is to be willing and able
to look inward and learn:
Godself and Self;
One in the Same.

BEING BROWN
My color does not rub off
on any one, said the brown
to the white, nor does it pale
on being exposed to you
we could share the same spa, the water will not change color
Don’t turn your face, your
back speaks the same language
as your steps echo the thoughts
laid bare, I may not react but
leave, turn back, with my body
dripping drops of abject dismay
You become the looking glass, denying
me my reflection, as in life everything
is a cause and effect, as are we, of the
same cause, two different effects, just
the same causes presented differently,
such is the way of our known world
Each time distaste is displayed, the
belief rises from layers of your past
to rèflect on your being - though
the scriptures prohibit, convenience
beckons and provides the blinkers
in this sequestered life of choosing
* ‘Tat tvam asi’ – you are what
you are – and I am the beautiful
me, without bleach and beyond the
veil – and, are we not all travelers
in search of the truth from the finite
to the infinite, in our equal existence
You do not get everything you
desire, since your life is chained to
your **karma – your choices form
your destiny – not always in
black and white but often displayed
in many shades, mostly in between
We are a part of the form and the
formless, You can hurt the brown in
the form not in the Formless, so do
not judge - as you will be carrying
The baggage of a your fears in your
form searching the formless in time
In dreams that shelter hope, you
live, with goals that were never
complete - despite the faith or the
lack of it - as they ignored much of
the colour around – do your worst,
as the best in me, is yet to come
We will all be probably born again,
when the colours of this life change
our present life may dictate the next
as the past catches up in time, and
perhaps, we will meet once again,
when I am white and you brown

I acknowledge that this may well be hypocritical to the very nature of what I am presently doing, but I continue;
If it were so simple that language could describe it,
it wouldn't be worth the effort it takes
to try to capture it with whatever medium you can
even when that medium is language.
Your life itself is an expression of it.
You are it as it is you.
Tat tvam asi.
Then again, if it were so simple we could understand it,
we would be so simple that we couldn't.

The morning
Clear and cool
Some seagulls
Fly overhead
Just be kind
Be caring
It was all there from the beginning
Tat Tvam Asi means
"You are it"
The self is identifiable
With Ultimate Reality
Which is the ground
Of all phenomena
Effortless action
I met kind and caring women today
One day I hope to
Have a companion
Who is a caring woman
